Is this like other weapons like the one lance that is actually considered a blunt weapon, though, and doesn't suffer the damage reduction against bones that slashing and piercing do normally?

if you get to lv70 and get this weapon, and you need the +7ACC to hit things in gusgens, you've got serious issues.
