Golden World Passes
# Nov 28 2006 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
I just picked this up for the post 100 days Golden World Pass.

Pumpkin Head I was available for the person who accepted the Golden World Pass.
Horror Head AND Pumpkin head was offered for the person who bought the Golden World Pass.

I must say it wasn't a wise choice for gameplay. I play a Samurai. I think the only good I can even get out of this is if I want to someone to check my Bazaar. It seems extremely useless. I only picked it because I think it's one of the coolest looking equipments and I have wanted it since I saw it on my 1st day playing. I think the Pitchfork +1 that gives +movement speed would have been a better choice.

So... I chose it, but unless I go Blackmage, I doubt I'll see any good use from it other then to look cooler then everyone else.
thanks for wasting my time

Thanks to the couple people who posted how to get this item. And to the rest of you who went on and on about useless and ridiculous things like running a level 1 mule to jeuno ---> why the hell do people like you waste our time trying to siphon through reams of useless information for something valuable?

Is there not a 'useless information and ranting' thread you could post in somewhere? This happens in way to many threads. I look and look for info to help me figure something out and often this useless drivel is all I find. :(
BLM in Sky
# Aug 31 2006 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
I saw a BLM using this on Darksday, Full Moon, at night. He used Manafont and blasted Byakko to shreds in the 30 seconds that his 2-hour was active. He had RDM sub and a Loquacious Earring, so he was casting rapidly. Waterga III, MB: Flood II, Blizzard IV, Fire IV, Blizzaga III, Thunder IV, MB: Waterga III, and landed the killing blow with Tornado II. He got hate right before Tornado II, but main PLD voked off him. The little Taru did over 8,000 damage with his 2-hour. Only got hate at about the 6,500 damage mark.

They told me he had some BRD song cast on him that lowered his Enmity as well, so he had more along the lines of Enmity-60. Insane thing to watch though. Byakko's HP going down like 15% in 30 seconds was funny.

I was on the ferry (Selbina-Mhuara) and I saw someone wearing one. I asked if they were doing it again this year and they said yes. So if you missed it last year, here's your second chance!

Timing

From the various online clocks, the best I can tell Darksday + Full Moon happens roughly once every 3 and a half days.

How To Get Halloween Items
# Oct 28 2004 at 6:12 PM Rating: Excellent
It's a bit late, but I'm hoping this info can still help some. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong trying to get my items. You must equip, or not equip the items your given to get more. If you want Pumpkinhead I or II, or Trick staff I or II make sure you have no halloween gear equipped in your head or weapon slots. If you're wearing Pumpkinhead II, you will never recieve the first one. Instead you'll be given Horror Head II. What you want to wear is as follows...

To get:

Treat staff, wear the trick staff
Treat staff II, wear Trick staff II
Horror Head, wear Pumpkinhead
Horror Head II, wear Pumpkinhead II
____

Trick Staff - wear non halloween weapon or nothing
Trick Staff II - non halloween weapon/nothing
Pumpkinhead - non Halloween hat/nothing
Pumpkinhead II - non Halloween hat/nothing

Of course if you have the hat you want, but are still stuck on staves, you can equip either the Horror Head or Horror Head 2. They should stop giving you hats at that point, and only pass out Lanterns or staves. Same should work the other way, wear a Treat I or II staff and only get hats and lanterns.

It still takes some time to get them items knowing this, but it should work for everyone. I wasted 200k + trying to figure out my mistake on my main, and have gotten the items for at least 5 alts for less than 50k since figuring it out. I hope it's not too late for ppl to get this info and find their Halloween gear. Good luck to all~! ^-^

GREAT WORK!

About 1 hour 40 min after reading this post and
15k in Oranges i got the remaining 4 items i needed. (YAY ME 8/8) If some say that this isn't the only way it is done, then i would say it's still by far the fastest!

Also, i would like to add my findings. The last few items i collected were done by standing at 1 NPC till it paid off, even a "Jack-o-lantern". Soon as i got anything, i would move to another NPC that gave me a different costume. Before i made full circle of all costumes, i would obtain a rare/ex item.
Not saying only Yag costume NPCs give "Treat Staff II", but soon as NPC that give you a Yag costume pays off, dont do Yag costume again till you get one of your rare/ex items.

Anyways, helps pass time trading all those oranges if you have a plan. About 3 hours and 30k investment isn't to bad for 8 rare/ex's.
Thank you FrostAdora for you post, till i read it i thought i would have to wait till next year to get the rest of my items.

Darksday+Nighttime+Full moon
# Oct 25 2004 at 8:30 AM Rating: Good
So everyone knows, you can plan when to use this. Simply go here and select the next 100 Darkdays. It shows you when the next full moon is on Darksday in relation to your current RL time. I can use it 10 times effectivly over the next 30 days. Just an FYI...
average treat given per item ratio
# Oct 24 2004 at 6:41 PM Rating: Decent
i blew 35k on halloween treats and have found that u get one random halloween item per 4-6 stacks of treats. Saruta Oranges are cheapest per stack and costs only 900 gil per stack. I got Trick Staff, Treat Staff, Treat Staff II, Horror Head and Pumpkin Head, and 2 Jackolaterns from 35k worth of treats (around 30-35 stacks total) hope this helps!

BTW: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO BACK TO YOUR CITIZENSHIP CITY FOR THE ITEM DROPS TO BE MORE FREQUENT!! I AM FROM WINDY AND GOT ALL MY DROPS AT BASTOK MINES! ^-^
just got mine

This year's Halloween Event just started today, I got the Horror Head (along with a Trick Staff II, and a Pumpkin Head), but what are the chances I will be playing on Darksday+Nightime+Full Moon?? This is mostly for showing off.

Mule
# Sep 08 2004 at 7:17 PM Rating: Default
Why would you take a mule to go get this? its EX, you can't send it to your main character... and the only reason i'd want this is to show off... just like my lord's yukata, which i will never use (Bronze Harness+1)

Ok, lets get this straight people: Emnity DOES NOT protect you from getting aggro when walking past mobs. Emnity reduces aggro gained from spells, abilities, items, etc. Mainly used for your mage type. This was one of the first "holiday quests" that SE did. This was done over the halloween season last year, during the first year FFXI was out. Most NA players dont ahve them because this was done during the first initial release in NA. The quest is just like those oh-so-familiar Egg Hunt and GoalPoint quests we've just finished. So, to recap, this will not allow you to walk freely in Ifrit's Cauldron as a Lv 1 whatever and not get aggro.

LoL - i can see a lvl 1 trying to run to jeuno with this on but just as day breaks he runs past an aggro monster and gets killed...
not often enough
# Mar 11 2004 at 1:00 PM Rating: Excellent
considering how long a full moon lasts, not even a game day, and how nighttime is like 10 mins RL time, and dark day is like 1/10 of the time, you dont get this often enough to be good.

The Full moon last for 1 game week, and darksday is 1/8 of the time, 90% full moon > 100% full moon > 90% full moon. So you get from 0:00 to 3:59 and 20:00 to 23:59 on darksday to take advantage of this items special effects. That still doesnt make it much better however.

Weren't these given out on the first week of the American release in celebration of Halloween? Cause that was the only time I saw these.

-50 Enmity
# Mar 02 2004 at 7:49 PM Rating: Decent
If u get lucky and ever do get the -50 enmity, Ewonian, you can basically walk up to a monster and hit it and it wouldn't notice you. (exagerating)
Enmity lowers hate towards you.
and your point is?
# Mar 02 2004 at 6:53 PM Rating: Decent
What is the point of this item, I don't remeber the last time it was darksday+Full moon! (do you) also, what is the benefit of having -50 enmity?

Seeing how the full moon is from 90%-100%-90%, and since the % changes 3% per day (is that right?) the full moon will exist through at least 6 nights. The chances that there will be Darksday+nightime on a full moon are pretty high. How do you get this? The lvl 1 mule run to jeuno would be lots easier with this.

I got my level 1 mule, "Meatwagon" to Jeuno unescorted, unsneaked, and visible. It's not that hard. There were a couple of tense moments and close calls, but who cares if your level 1 gets killed? There's no loss of XP and there are several places to Homepoint along the way. I did it on my first try. There's the obvious benefit to having a fulltime buyer / seller / price checker in Jeuno, but mostly I did it because I thought it would be funny to run around naked in Jeuno with that floating newbie "?" next to my name. I got there on the first try with no equipment of any kind.

What's even leeter is a NIN1 in Jeuno with a Question Mark hovering over their head.

Actually this is quite possible. If I recall correctly we were all given the '?' mark when that feature was added, and we had to remove it manually no matter our level. I was level 24 or so and I had to figure out how to get rid of the thing.
RE: and your point is?
# Jul 31 2004 at 1:01 PM Rating: Decent
How the hell did someone manage that one?
RE: and your point is?
# Aug 04 2004 at 3:10 PM Rating: Decent
it's not possible due to the fact you will lose the question mark after a couple of levels, but what you could do is get a level one to elshimo island, i've thought about it, the mule stands at the zones of where you get the kahzam keys and lots them after some high level farms them. what would be even sicker is after the mule gets to elshimo have someone buy a couple of silent oils and prism powders.... Level 1 noob in Norg ^^

EDIT:
Or you could fork over the gil and buy an airship pass >< but that wouldnt be as cool
