Here's the only problem I have with this whole thing. I've got someone posting in the beginning about these buffs. Then I've got people all refuting it but no one has any evidence of anything. Maybe you only get an xp buff, maybe nothing at all. I won't be getting married anytime soon, but this is an open question I would like completely resolved once and for all. I would like if someone who is married, take their significant other and party equal level jobs, first w/o the ring noting the xp they get of what type of mob. Now take those same mobs and fight them using the wedding rings. Record the xp and possibly any changes in stats. All things should be recorded. In fact not to confuse anything, the slot the ring is supposed to be used should be left empty for the first runs and then only add the wedding ring for the sussequent runs. That way all stats are equal with the only variable being the ring.
Bonuses would be cool and all, but if not that's okay too. Being married is it's own reward. I would just like no doubt left in this debate. I don't like things being left unanswered.

Heres a question, If you get married and the person you got with turned out to be unfaithful, so you drop your ring... could you remarry? I read that bonds on characters dont stick so is it possible or do you have to remake a new character to marry?
re marriage i know for a fact that you can not get remarried in the game once your married your married. I got married in game an hubby quit talked to GM an they say you can't get remarried even if you drop the ring. just thought i would give everyone heads up on this Panthercat/Titan
When the Married Couple are in a party together they get
1. A major stat boost. 2. 100% more exp than normal. 3. 100% more gil than normal. 4. More Damage is done by both players.
A new chat channel will open up. This is a permanent channel, which can consist of the married couple as well as the chapperone, and all the guests that join.
If both players reach level 50, they are given the ability to warp to each other
The couple are also given the ability to visit each other's mog houses and recieve the stat boosts from the furniture
umm this isn't the real ramzy its his son. but i need help on askin my g/k to marry me and i always backout wen i am bout to. so can some1 tell me a better way of sayin will u marry me plz reply ^^
I got married January 28th to Cephiro ^^ We had the wedding in the manor in San d'oria, with a beautiful elvaan female ^^ It was fantastic... To those of you who expect to get bonuses out of this... the only bonus if that you married the one you love. No shared mog house, no double exp or gil, just a wedding ring and wedding eq(for the bride) to show your devotion. Whoever expected to get something out of it besides being with one you love... you dont deserve to read these posts.
Ok. i may sound big headed for this but i got the answers to everyones problems (at least for the Van Diel Wedding) i found out exactly how it works. this may take awhile to explain....
1) You must have a Chaperone. Its basically the Best Man (or woman, can be any race/sex). Basically just pick a friend who you know will be at the wedding. Very important for the Chaperone to show up. The reason you have to start with a Chaperone is because the Wife nor the Husband can file for a Wedding Application, it must be done by the Chaperone. 2) The Chaperone needs the names of the 2 to be wed and the names of the main weapon they carry (example: Obelisk Lance). Its for the ceremony. No money is required yet. 3) The Chaperone then goes to the screen after the main screen that allows you to check your Playonline mail, buddy list, etc. The Screen has a "Play" button on it. You normally go here to enter into the game and pick your character. Instead of hitting "Play", scroll down to "Compendium". This will bring you to a screen with about 5-6 options in a circle. spin the circle to Wedding. In here will be various options with further information about the wedding and at the bottom will be the "Application". Click on "Application" and fill in all the required information. 4)Once the application has been sent, the GM will let you know when the wedding will be. they will inform you of the Time, Place, and Date. 5) ONE HOUR BEFORE the wedding starts, the bride, groom and chaperone must meet the GM at the wedding locale. they will go over the ceremony, write the vows, and buy the wedding dress. the wedding dress is 50k and can only be bought at this time. it is not required to be married and can not be sold back. there is no tux for the guys, sorry. just to put your minds at ease, the opaline dress is NOT the wedding dress. the wedding rings will be given out at this time too. all guests of the wedding will receive Fireworks for after the wedding and will be able to use them and use emotes to celebrate. 6) Once the wedding is over, its over. Thats it. No sharing of mog house, no exp, no money or increased skills. Just married. Oh, and you got the ring to show u did it.
Now that we have that out of the way... Lets fill in all the blanks.
-Weddings can only be held Wednesday-Sunday. For some reason you can NOT get married on Monday or Tuesday. Tell your Chaperone what day and date you want to get married. Your application will be returned in a week, if not then resend the application. -Times to get married are 2PM, 5PM, and 7PM Pacific Standard Time (PST). You can ONLY get married at one of these times. Tell your Chaperone what time you want to get married. -The rings: Your wedding rings can be engraved in one of 2 ways... Either with initials or names. Example: Jeff and Sue are to be married. the rings can say: grooms ring: StoJ bride: JtoS meaning Sue to Jeff and Jeff to Sue. or the grooms ring can say Sue, and the brides would say Jeff. Either way, tell your Chaperone how u want it BEFORE he puts in the application. -As for your level, the 2 to be wed must be at least level 20. Not my rules, just has to be. -All guests must be on time. Any big distractions during the wedding will cancel the wedding. Also if guests are late the wedding may be cancelled.
Locales and their cost: -First off, to reutter, the dress is bought in the HOUR BEFORE the wedding. it is 50K but not essential to get married. there is NO tux. and the chaperone must have the money to pay for it. the bride nor the groom can buy the wedding dress or pay for the wedding. The costs below are rental costs and do not include the dress.
Ok, so where do you want to get married...
San d'Oria Counts Manor: Guests-10 Cost-20k Counts Manor Courtyard: Guests-36 Cost-80k Chateau d'Oraguille: Guests-18 Cost-30k *the Chateau requires minimum San d'Orian citizens to be Rank 2 and Bastok or Windhurst residents to be Rank 3 to enter the Chateau.
There is a chance you can be married elsewhere. When filling out the application you can put in an alternative site. Its the GMs choice if that is an ok locale for the wedding. Restrictions include heavy traffic areas like the Auction House or places with lots of fighting going on. If you must get married somewhere else, ask the GM and if its ok then go by these prices. Remember, only a certain amount of people may be able to fit into your locale. The GM should specify the number of guests you may invite.
Hey I'm getting married to my RL g/f on the game. If you wanna come to the wedding your invited. It will happen Next Sunday in Shiva.(8/07/05) Hit me up if you wanna come.
K I'm new to this whole thing and very confused. Am I missing something?? I can't find where I find this ring or how much it is. Can someone help me? Please.
ya, on Unicorn, me (Turner) and Attea want to get Marriede, but b4 i do this, i wana learn as much as Possible. regarding dress costs during Wedding, i got Gil, i'm already hlping Attea w/ the 20K she'll need 4 it. pls send me PM's w/ info thx^.^
Yea, just recently on January 30th 2005 i got married. I had a windurstian style and everyone of my LS members enjoyed it. 1st you get teleported to a location and you go to a hidden part of East Sarutabaruta. A taru taru appears and hes the wedding master. You pay him the gil and then for an hour you go over the wedding. Once you do that your guests should already be at a certain position. They get teleported and the music turns into this wedding style music. Its pretty cool. Of course the bride gets the dress and im stuck with my Iron Muskateers armor. But yea its pretty fun and if you really love someone you should get married its a really great expierence that 2 people who love each other and play this game should see. AND ALSO... there are no bonuses to get married, SE made this as a purpose for loved ones to unite from different parts of the world. All the bonuses you get is just having a someone who loves you thats all. If you gots any questions send replys to this and ill be sure to respond to u asap.
I'm interested in getting married too. And I was wondering if you can have more than one friend submit an application for you? Also if some of your selected dates have been rejected, can you submit another application before the remaining dates have been drawn for?
U cant have more then 1 person sign up for a wedding, but if u do get declined, u can keep resigning for the dates that did not get already drawn for. Sry for the late reply, PLD's addicting
Right this is damned simple, to do a wedding you apply using the Compendium menu you get in the FFXI menu before you click "Play".
You need someone to submit you and your partner for the wedding list, and you have meet the level and play time requirements
All you get AFTER the wedding is a wedding ring, to signify your devotion to your partner. Thats it kiddos! There is no stat boost, no shared mog house, no other advantages at all!!! The wedding is like in real life, its to show your game peers you and your partners love for each other, and to show this later with your ring wid your partners name on it!!
Plus the bride gets to keep the wedding dress hehe!
I hate people who want to get married to get sumthin outta it /sigh

I know for a fact that a RL marriage is not required for NA game weddings. The only non-game question asked on the application is the email address of the person filling out the application (which cannot be the bride or groom).
EDIT: You can look at the application yourself by going to the Compendium in Playonline. You can get to the Compendium from the same screen where you register Content IDs.
Benefits? The only "benefit" it getting to marry the one you love... And if that's not enough, go away. I hate how everyone thinks theres some bonus... like exp increase, or stat boosts... One person even asked me if you got a shared moghouse. If I haven't made it clear enough yet, the wedding is purely a symbolic thing, just like the ring you recieve.
Umm.... I bet I've only read half the damn conversation but I bet its every where now.....Anyways, straight to the point, what I REALLY ment to post was, well. I met this girl online (I know she's a girl, we even talk over MSN and crap) but, I'm kinda... to say, in love with her and well, I couldn't find the words to say to her yet. We're like best friends and all, we play together every day and. As I said, its like impossible to live without her!!! Someone! Tell me what to do before I go psycho! because I am so unsure of what to do, what to tell her, and what the **** to act like... I mean, we're best friends basically (on the game) and if I @#%^ up, not only will I be out of a online GF but a very, very, VERY good friend! Someone, tell me what to ****in' do before I fall off the deep end and, I kinda wanna marry her>.<
Get a grip man! </slap> All you gotta do is when you log into POL, go to games then Final Fantasy XI like you normally would only instead of selecting "play", you'll select "Compendium" from the menu below. All the info about weddings and other things are in there. Good luck and if you marry in Diabolos I'll try to throw some pixilated rice at you. This is my first post and my info is outdated.
u can not get it from quests u can not craft it u can ONLY get it from having a wedding ceremony it is Rare/ex so the only way that anyone can possibly get authentic wedding equipment is from having a wedding ceremony so if u hope to get the wedding equipment but dont have the gil to do a ceremony sorry :(
when u get married u get the whole Wedding Set but u only get it if u pay 50k that includes legs, feet, head, body, everything and u get a wedding ring with ur partner's name inscribed on it u also have to pay a certain amount of gil for the ceremony itself depending on how large the wedding is if u wanna get married u must have a friend of yours send in an application saying the date, time, size, and all the small detailsu can amrry any race, but not the same sex
Ok, we can finally get married....but what if my new wife keeps nagging me. Is there something in the works for getting a divorce? Or am I just stuck with that ????? for life? Im not married yet but i want to know just in case I decide to, because if not I definitly need to choose wisely....
How to get a divorce in five easy steps. Unequip wedding ring. Tell her, I'm sorry it isn't working. /Goodbye your wife. Walk to the Jeuno AH. Drop it. (Or in one easy step, Drop the damn ring.)

Based on this, I'm not entirely sure *you* want to get married on the game...it's not like you *have* to. Besides, most women on the game are very nice, not naggy or anything.

Just to inform everyone Square has finally anounced the date that weddings will be avaliable in the English version. June 4th American players will be able to enjoy this new event. Also the wedding ring is NOT a quested item. The ring is given to the two to be married when they send in a request for marriage form. They have the option to be engraved and all. All information regaurding American weddings can be found in the Compendulum in the PlayOnline viewer. ^_^
ok, so this really has nothing to do with the armour, but I saw my first wedding in Bastok a few months ago. It was around the time when they had the fireworks (ouku ranman?). Somehow I was invited to watch the ceremony and it was extrememly beautiful. The trees in Bastok were blooming and the wedding coordinator was running around crazily trying to get people in the right spot. When the maid of honor came down the steps she used those little fireworks and it was just really cute. ^.^ Oh yeah, they had a bard playing during the service too. Off the subject, by some strange happening I became the groom's mother. o.O; Yeah! ^_^ So I just wanted to share the cute little wedding story, maybe give you some ideas for your own. Good luck.
If they do decide to include marriage, it should have a benefit to the palyers, like if you are partied with your wife or husband, you get a tax break at the AH or something...lol Maybe crafting skills rub off on on another, not fully (25%-50%) would sufice. Also exp in battle could be higher between the two when partied. Ok there aslo has to be a negative right? When playing without the other player exp will take a slight hit. If they get separtated (divorced) each pay 1/2 their gil for a divorce, and lose 50% of their skills gained by the marriage Something like that.
(Um...)(No thanks.) That's not really a smart idea... Look at what they did to Ragnarok online, they made that kind of thing, where you get abilities if you marry someone, but, its dumb, its more of a "marrying people because you get to do this cool kickass thing!" instead of love, I think SE chose the right thing to do. so, Marriage Benefits? (Huh!?)(No thanks.)
Hope this helps someone, but from what I have been hearing.. Is that when you complete "Fit for a Prince" Quest you and the female Mithra/Hume/Elv both receive a Wedding Ring. Not good for anything else except the Wedding Ceremonies, which should make an appearance in the game in one of the upcoming updates.
Ok i found out somethings about the wedding equipment. SquareEnix is adding the wedding ceremony to the English version of the game soon as announced on the playonline website. If you go to Windurst Walls outside the huge tree in the center is a hume in red clothing. She mentions the equipment and the playonline site so my guess it will be coming real soon and we will have to buy the equipment.
Where do i get the wedding clothes and ring? Are they crafted, drops off mobs or purchased? I know only the japanese can get nmarried but is it still possible to get the clothes?
Given the percentage of male gamers in the world, I'd say the overwhelming majority of the 'weddings' that can happen in this game will only be superficially heterosexual.
I don't know about that. The majority of players probably won't be interested in weddings to begin with, and those who are interested in weddings are more likely to be female gamers. ^^

Actually I'm going to be marrying for fun. However, I don't think they will allow gay marriages due to how America has been acting about it lately, but you never know it IS only a game. But, I DO plan on getting married, to take it seriously and to have fun with it... not really dating nor married irl. :) It's all about role play... To escape from the real world... That's what role playing is all about. Having fun ya. :)

It's not rude at all.. check the item up there. Does is say anything about killing NM? Noooope its a wedding ring, go post in the Monk forum about how 100 punches is great for killing NM.
I wish that this ring would give you and your spouse a little something. Maybe extra dmg when you SC together or maybe a special "cover" when the other is low on hp. Then again I want my own airship and a Chocobo Knight job too and I don't have either of those yet ^.^
So... where can you get this ring? Is it craftable like some of the other wedding equipment, or do you get it from a quest, or does an NM drop it, or what?

#Anonymous,
Posted:Mar 02 2004 at 3:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well no one cares what you think about the first post, why dont you guys just stfu..
"what now is SE gonna be all the other games and have marriages, wow thats original if i wanted to play house i would have gone to gramer school, i personally feel that there should not be marrige for the fact that people are then gonna want devorce, weddings, and the game is gonna get alittle stupid even though i don't think ffxi will ever get stupid. i guess i should have thought the day would come with the tarut card quest in jueno."
I was nearly completely unable to find and/or follow any sort of logical thought progression in the first post down there. It seems to me that I would rather prefer the idea of playing an online RPG with persons who want to have a little good fun... at least if given the option between them and such illiterate junior high dropouts as our well-spoken first poster... <cough>
