Lightning Ore

I have found that if you feed just one lightning crystal the second feeding you get better results. Different items too. You can get water crystals, Reishi mushrooms, gold leaves, and lightning ore. I have had better success get lightning ore with just one crystal. My character is in Fenrir, name is Orcadian.

OK i have tried this twice with succes. plant the tree saplings in a porc. pot and use 2 lightning crystals. harvest the plant on firesday when the moon is 70% or more in waxing gibbous. and like in all plants wait for the mog to say "Its grown so big" before you harvest. If it works for you plz reply.

I tried this and got it to work, but it took a severe amount of time. What I did was in a ceramic pot planted the tree sapling on Lightning day and for the next week (In real time) I examined the plant twice a day. 8 days later (again in real time) and again on Lightnings day I gave the thing a lightning crystal. I then waited another 8 days (real time) and did the same thing... Lightning crystal on Lightnings day... eventually when the tree was able to be harvested out of 4 attempts I've grown 2 Lightning Ores that have sold for 390K+ on Lakshimi as of 15 Jun 05. Hopefully this will help those that don't have it quite right.

Small correction to the above information. You cannot grow Lightning ore from Tree Cuttings you will need Tree Saplings to grow this. Also listed is 3 crystsals (1 dark 2 lightning) but you can only feed the plant 2 crystals. So far the most popular combination is feeding your Tree Saplings 2 lightning crystals although there are other combinatoins that will yield this ore as well.

Yes they can.

Yes, these elemental ores CAN be grown, for anyone who's still wondering... I have proven it by growing one myself, and several in-game friends have done the same. So, yeah... you get it.

Ok The Elemental ores are all obtainable through 3 ways. FIRST: is BCNM 60. Simply put, win the battle and you may get one.

The next 2 are much better methods for the poor player, however.

SECOND: CHOCOBO DIGGING

You have to get your chocobo digging skil;l up to a considferable level to do this (yes chocobo digging is like a guild with 10 skill lvls)
visit www.cannotlinkto/ffxi and click the chocobo digging section. It lists what can be dug there.

LAST and BEST BY FAR is GARDENING
the recipie is as follows.

You will need a PORCELIN POT + TREE SAPLING (note this is NOT cutting but sapling). Simply plant the seed in the porcelin pot in the mog house (preferably on dark day since that is the seeds element) and then add 2 crystals of the desired elementak ore color (IE: fire crystals for fire ore and wind crystals for wind ore) on the day of the crystal element. Then harvest on the elemental day of the ore you are going for and you will hopefully have your elemental ore. Btw these ALL sell for over 200K (so much for Leaping Lizzy hunting).

The downside of this method is as folows. You are not guarenteed an ore EVERY time. There IS a chance of getting lesser results (as with al;l gardening). And the biggie is that it takes approximately a REAL LIFE MONTH to grow these so don't do only one. Have a few going at once so that if one pot fails maybe another will succeed.

I have PERSONALLY grown a water/fire/ice/wind/earth ore and have yet to attempt the light/dark/lightning

so this DOES work. I now have 8 million gil from this with 6 mules over the past 3 months so i don't need the secret anymore. Plainly put it WORKS...albeit a little slow and not 100%. DO IT it is your road to riches :).

Why must it be a Porcelain Pot? I've heard that you can grow any of the ores on ANY of the pots. Check Pikko Pots for example. She grew dark ore on any of the pots. I have 30 BRASS Pots with 30 tree saplings. Gonna see what I can get =/

It hasn't been determined what "element" the tree saplings are. I can point to five different websites, all saying five different things.

Water Ore attempts may result in Mithril Leaves, which each sell for 850+ to the NPC with lvl 7 fame.

Elementals drop clusters. They do not drop ores.

The only way that I know for sure to get the elemental-type ores is through BCNM60. I have heard other rumors, but I will not feed the propogation of unsubstantiated rumors.

This ore can be refined in to a Lightning Bead (or it could be Thunder Bead ... I don't recall off the top of my head) by a high-level goldsmith, which can then be used by a high-level carpenter (~75) to craft a Thunder Staff.

These ores, and their corresponding products, are worth several hundred thousand gil.

You can also grow them with Cactus Stems.

Cactus stems?? I just find that hard to believe since they are confirmed drops of 60 BCNM battles. There is a HUGE difference between the rarity of the two. I wont believe this until more people agree with you.

Cool. Thanks for the info, this sight lists Dark, Earth, Fire, Ice, and Light beads and says that you can make Staffs with them. But, it doesn't say anything about the beads (like where or how you make them.) It would be called a lightning bead because that is the trend.

Because this item is new there isn't any info.
I have no clue what it could be used for, but just think. Elemental Ore could yeild elemental Ingots, and yield some awesome gear that was only available from drops before.
Something like a Lightning Ingot and a Wind Crystal yielding an Electrum Hairpin. Man that would be cool. ^^ You could make some kick **** 250,000 gil ring with level 100 goldsmithing. Wa ha ha!
