I was wondering what you guys meant by glowrate and how you can time it w/ the full moon. I remember reading about it on the forum b4 but when i went back to reread it i couldn't find it. I'd really appreciate it if someone could clarify all of this for me. ^^

The purpose that mogenhancement gardening is used for is: to help you time a full moon correctly while extending the optimal glowrate phase.
22 maple tables will give you 176 gardening enhancement which will let you time it perfectly. Do a search for the ffxi v2 timer to time your growth phase for about 20.5 days before the beginning of a full moon or 21.5 days before your harvesting element day full moon. ie: darksday
This is only relevant if you are going for a 3-6 ore harvest. If you know you messed something up earlier you should focus on building up or down the elemental strength of the sapling through feeding crystals on the same or weak day depending if you need to build up or down. Another main thing i did was wait for the optimal glowrate if i messed up the planting or feeding and you can almost always get an ore as long as you fed the correct crystals.

Please tell me where in game or here where you come up with 176 gardening moghancement I have 22 maple tables with 1 earth element each & was able to fit 6 yellow jars on the free spaces on the floor with 2 earth elemental each & the 10 ceramic pots for 1 each, that's 44 earth element total & if it's the number of earth elements in the house that gives the moghancement would'nt it skyrocket if I fill the floor with yellow jars with 2 earth each & just 1 maple table to set the ceramic jars on giving 647 earth elemenet & if your moghancement was based on the amount of earth that would give you well over 2,500 gardening moghancement unless there is a cap which I would,nt know where to find that information either. So please someone tell me where to find information on mog house stats like this cause all I get is overwhelming earth energy which I had at 12 or so tables.
Hey Dara that was an amazing catch. I really wish you had caught the planting and feeding elemental days. You also caught the optimal glowrate accidentally which made the difference in your harvest.
I have verified that 15 days is possibly through other pots in a certain home city.
To the guy below going for wind ore. you should be on your way. Just check the glowrate on windsday when it's ready to harvest and if it's not optimal then wait until the following darksday unless you lose your full moon. Calculate it with +2% per day I think. Your glowrate should be good enough to grab you at least one wind ore.

A few days ago I was able to grow a dark ore with my mule Kirana on the Carbuncle Server. I checked the ah in Windurst and 1 had sold for 10K. I sent it to my main, Dara, and sold it at the Bastok ah for 100k. I was surprised.
But to the point...i used a brass pot, fed both crystals, and out of 2 pots got 1 dark ore. And it took only 2 weeks to grow, not 1-2 months. I didnt pay any attention to wether or not it was darks day or harvested on a full moon, and I still had a 50% success rate my first time out. Also, I have a work bench in my MH which gives the key item Moghancement: Gardening, which helps alot. Another thing that I didnt see mentioned...you need to check your plants EVERYDAY (realtime). The person who told me this recipe stressed to me that this was very important.

There is a BIG problem at this point on the server I am on. I was growing dark ore with a couple friends, and it was avaraging around 150-160k apiece. Not bad, and easy profit. Normally there awas 5-10 on sale at any one point.
All of a sudden, it jumped from 5-10 to 60 at once, and the idiot that grew THAT many also priced them all at 80-90K. It effectivly killed the entire market, you couldn't make profit on it.
Forget gil farmers, or bot campers, now they are taking high profit stuff like this and ruining it for a quick buck.

Ok The Elemental ores are all obtainable through 3 ways. FIRST: is BCNM 60. Simply put, win the battle and you may get one.
The next 2 are much better methods for the poor player, however.
SECOND: CHOCOBO DIGGING
You have to get your chocobo digging skil;l up to a considferable level to do this (yes chocobo digging is like a guild with 10 skill lvls) visit www.cannotlinkto/ffxi and click the chocobo digging section. It lists what can be dug there.
LAST and BEST BY FAR is <b> GARDENING </b> the recipie is as follows.
You will need a PORCELIN POT + TREE SAPLING (note this is NOT cutting but sapling). Simply plant the seed in the porcelin pot in the mog house (preferably on dark day since that is the seeds element) and then add 2 crystals of the desired elementak ore color (IE: fire crystals for fire ore and wind crystals for wind ore) on the day of the crystal element. Then harvest on the elemental day of the ore you are going for and you will hopefully have your elemental ore. Btw these ALL sell for over 200K (so much for Leaping Lizzy hunting).
The downside of this method is as folows. You are not guarenteed an ore EVERY time. There IS a chance of getting lesser results (as with al;l gardening). And the biggie is that it takes approximately a REAL LIFE MONTH to grow these so don't do only one. Have a few going at once so that if one pot fails maybe another will succeed.
I have PERSONALLY grown a water/fire/ice/wind/earth ore and have yet to attempt the light/dark/lightning
so this DOES work. I now have 8 million gil from this with 6 mules over the past 3 months so i don't need the secret anymore. Plainly put it WORKS...albeit a little slow and not 100%. DO IT it is your road to riches :).

This game has many interesting factors involved, one is change! Roll with it. If the price sux so bad, many people will abandon the ores at the AH, thus the price will rise again. Someone probably handed u the information; or did u experiment with countless recipes until u found it? I dont think so...
I guess by keeping the secret to yourself u feel powerful, this is a false sense of power within the virtual boundaries a digital world, take a step outside of FFXI into the real world every once in while, if u can handle it.

I am a level 74 Wood worker on Lakshmi server, I am interested in making light/dark/earth/etc. staffs and have been checking the prices on the materials needed to make them. Elemental ores alone cost almost as much as the staffs sell for, and that is prior to finding a high level goldsmith convert the ore into a bead, so that I can use it. There is no reason for me to even try to synthesize one of these staffs if I do not get the ore on my own. So for Oujix up there you need to consider the bigger picture and stop being so greedy. I appreciate when people post information that is useful to others, information such as methods of obtaining these ores.

By all means, please do give away the secret and lower the price.
Those who take the time and space to grow these will still make decent money. Great money for the tiny effort, if not for the long time investment.
Those who bothered to work their goldsmithing up to a high enough level to make beads will increase their profit margin, and be able to competitively price their beads.
Those who put in the effort to get high in woodworking will then take these beads and make elemental staves, making more money because the materials were much cheaper, and selling at a lower price.
So whiners with no work ethic can get their Dark Staff relatively cheap.
A system like this takes slackers totally out of the loop, from the base materials to the end product. Everyone along the line takes a risk, and everyone eventually cuts a fat profit.
First - it is not a guarantee that you will grow one, even with his recipe. Second - Pikko's Pots has been up for a long time now, and this recipe is on it as well.
What makes this comment even more ridiculous is the fact that it takes 1-2 months of real world time to grow/harvest. Even if you had 10 pots going at the same time, all with the intent for them to grow the ore, you are still not going to get 10 ores in 1-2 months. You might get one. One ore introduced into the game every month or so will -not- reduce the price of them. Not by a long shot. If the price on your server is reduced, you can bet it is due to Gil Sellers working the BCNMs.

can be obtained through gardening, but i heard from jpn friend takes around 1-2months. He told me the seeds in jpn and i looked it up the seeds cost alot of gil around 10k per one. and you feed it Dark Crystals.

I believe that this also can be mined at Ifrit's Cauldren. However, I do not know this for a fact. I assume it is only used in very high level recipies.
I don't believe that this can be mined in Ifrit's Cauldron. At least in all the mining that I have done, I have never seen it (nor have I talked to anyone who has seen it). That's not to say that it's impossible, but it does exist there, it is insanely rare.
igtenos is right -- Dark Ore is synthed in to Dark Beads, which are then synthed in to Dark Staves/Pluto Staves. Dark Staves are ~75 Woodworking. Not sure what level refining the ore in to the beads is, but I imagine that it is pretty similar in level.
By the way, the elemental staves are really nice for just about any class. Dark Staff is LV 51 and has MP Recovery +10, and +1 of just about every stat.
Not 100% positive. Dark Ore (like all the Ores) can be synthed into Dark Beads, which can in turn be synthed into the insanely expensive Dark Staff/Pluto Staff. Considering the ore is listed under Goldsmithing, I'd assume that you need a *very* high goldsmithing rating to synth the ore into beads and likely even more (and very likely a high Woodworking skill) to synth the staff itself. On Bismark, the ore sells for 600k and the line of elemental staffs are around 1m+ each.
you think that's insane? they are 170k now! and you can't even ake money off making the staffs through woodworking alone ore still cost 150k and beads 150-200k each no that is messed up economy!
Shiva server: Every staff has made it down into the 90's. Sadly enough, I didn't have the money to buy one, though. They range from 88 (the lowest I've ever seen) to about 150 (the average), but the +1 versions go for about 500, steadily. Kinda depressing for someone who just dropped 150k to get woodcrafting up to lv 28, lol. Btw, anybody have any good synths for fast/cheap leveling? ^_^

Seraph, as of today, has major issues with profitable synths, even in upper-level Woodworking. I originally started wood to fix Lu Shang's once I got it, and started breaking it. Then a buddy of mine got in Goldsmithing, and we learned of how we could team up to make Elem. Staves. Then I guess 500 people got to 70+ Woodworking, and made it extremely difficult to find the money in it.
As I type this, the ONLY profitable synth series, counting the Goldsmithing and Woodworking, of going from Elemental Ore to Staff, is Wind. All others are a loss.
Elemental Ore > Bead > Staff (Note: N/A = no price history in Jeuno for this bead)

So whiners with no work ethic can get their Dark Staff relatively cheap.
A system like this takes slackers totally out of the loop, from the base materials to the end product. Everyone along the line takes a risk, and everyone eventually cuts a fat profit.
First - it is not a guarantee that you will grow one, even with his recipe. Second - Pikko's Pots has been up for a long time now, and this recipe is on it as well.
What makes this comment even more ridiculous is the fact that it takes 1-2 months of real world time to grow/harvest. Even if you had 10 pots going at the same time, all with the intent for them to grow the ore, you are still not going to get 10 ores in 1-2 months. You might get one. One ore introduced into the game every month or so will -not- reduce the price of them. Not by a long shot. If the price on your server is reduced, you can bet it is due to Gil Sellers working the BCNMs.

igtenos is right -- Dark Ore is synthed in to Dark Beads, which are then synthed in to Dark Staves/Pluto Staves. Dark Staves are ~75 Woodworking. Not sure what level refining the ore in to the beads is, but I imagine that it is pretty similar in level.
By the way, the elemental staves are really nice for just about any class. Dark Staff is LV 51 and has MP Recovery +10, and +1 of just about every stat.

Seraph, as of today, has major issues with profitable synths, even in upper-level Woodworking. I originally started wood to fix Lu Shang's once I got it, and started breaking it. Then a buddy of mine got in Goldsmithing, and we learned of how we could team up to make Elem. Staves. Then I guess 500 people got to 70+ Woodworking, and made it extremely difficult to find the money in it.
As I type this, the ONLY profitable synth series, counting the Goldsmithing and Woodworking, of going from Elemental Ore to Staff, is Wind. All others are a loss.

(Note: N/A = no price history in Jeuno for this bead)
Fire: 300-350k > N/A > 175k
Ice: 135-150k > 150k > 90-100k
Wind: 260k > N/A > 500-600k
Earth: 310-350k > N/A > 300-320k
Lightning (Thunder): 400-450k > N/A > 200-240k
Water: 170k > 130k (1 ever) > 130-170k
Light: 250k > 220-250k (2 ever) > 180-200k
Dark: 160k > 180k > 150k
