Why do you think Bastok always in 3d place??? SE designed it that way to benefit Bastok Nins and Thfs, since (a) more places not controlled by Bastok, and (b) Signet lasts longer. Joking aside, you put on signet, and the +5 evasion becomes +5 evasion skill. Makes thf even a more capable solo farmer, and these are really nice when tanking Charby (along with a pair of bat earrings, etc.). One of the few decent CP investments you can make in Bastok.

Just got these gloves for my PLD. Being from Bastok on the Caitsith server, I will find many regions to use these in as Bastok is frequently in last place. Someone asked if the def loss was worth it. Well if you evade more or parry more then I think it is.

These gloves are obtained by trading 40,000 conquest points a gate guard.

this glove totally rocks, eva skill+5 is just so sexy.

For the effect to work, u need to be in an area controlled by one of the 2 other nation (no effect is beastman control), and have signet on, i am from sandy and when i can wear it, i really see a nice eva boost. :)

These gloves are pretty tight for soloing. There are only a few eva skill gear. There are eva torque, the eva earing, and these gloves. Actaully, i cant think of over eva skill gear.
Eva skill+ goes directly to you eva skill in combat menu, so it is accounted for before eva+ gear is acounted for.

Glitched?

Im a level 65 Ninja, (I stopped levelling at 65, to get Rank 8 just for these babies^^), but since ive bought them, the 3 bonuses have NEVER triggered on my character.

Considering ive been on a levelling haitus since January 22nd, i find this incredibly unlikely. Today Ive passed through about 35 zones just to check if ive been misreading (Im San d'Orian, bought from bastok CP) and nope, never triggered. Ive just logged out of Crawler's Nest (which was updated as being under Windurstian Control), the GM function doesnt deal with problems such as this, so can anybody (Help me out!)?

Im kinda worried ive spent 60k CP on an item which is glitched/and or broken. ;_;

im fairly sure you have to be bastokian for the gloves to work, and have bastok signet on. seeing you said your sandorian, the gloves are never gonna do anything for you, unless im wrong.

Make sure you have signet on. I don't personally have these, but I do have the Republic Gold Medal, and in order for the effect to trigger you have to be in an enemy controlled region AND have signet on. If that doesn't work, then either they are glitched (unlikely) or they only work for people from bastok. But if I had to guess, especially since you haven't been exping much you probably haven't kept signet on, I'd say that's probably the issue. If not, try switching your nation to bastok and seeing if that works, I guess, and you can always switch back (you do lose your outpost warps though).

I just got Rank 8 and this was my very first major purchase with CP ever. (I got warp scrolls before, but that's it.) I'm from San d'Oria and have to pay a CP penalty (since they're from Bastok) but still consider them worth it.

These may "arguably" be the best gloves in the game for a Ninja, assuming of course the effects are applicable where you happen to stand. Ninja excel at parrying and have the 2nd best evasion skill (to THF).

Yes, gloves like Arhat's Tekko and Rasetsu Tekko add evasion, but these gloves add evasion SKILL. Skill levels have significantly more effect than evasion alone. The level 65 torques are priced so high for 2 reasons: they're from bcnm 60's (hard to obtain), but they're so coveted because they improve skill. With these gloves and an evasion torque, a Ninja's evasion skill will improve by 12. That is like making the evasion of a 65 Ninja equivalent to that of a level 67-68 Ninja. And if you've improved 2 or 3 levels as a Ninja, you can notice a significant evasion difference if trying to tank that same mob.

However, I would never use these as another tank job. PLD are based on def/shield, not evasion/parrying. Even the mighty 74+ War/Nin with Utsusemi: Ni cannot benefit as much as a Ninja from these gloves since a War's evasion skill level is much much lower. In exp pts, my belief is that you should specialize in whatever it is your job is supposed to be good at. War & Pld can wear those heavy armors. And these gloves have a major loss of defense (compared to others at that level) if equipped by those jobs.

For solo work, any job can use these well, but I would think Ninja and Thief take most advantage.

That being said, these gloves clash loudly with my sexy scorpion harness. =(

Hmm, I agree with your general assessment, but I'm seriously considering these gloves as a Paladin. The difference in def between these gloves and the PLD AF Gallant Gauntlets is 5. 5 def is nothing when as a Paladin, you have between 450 and 600 def depending on what food, buffs, and skills you have on while tanking. What really DOES matter is the +2 vit. Vit decreases the damage you take directly as well as indirectly by adding def by doing a check against the Str of the opponent. A level 65 PLD might have like 65-75 base vit, so +2 is a much greater increase than the loss of 5 def. +5 evasion skill is also nothing to sniff at for any job where you're being hit a lot. I consider it a bonus, though, rather than the purpose of the gloves. The +5 to parrying is the same way.

What I'm really giving up wearing these is the +3 Dex and the +2 enmity also granted by my Gallant Gauntlets... So, basically, which one I wear will depend on whether I'm having more trouble taking too much damage (these), or generating enough hate (AF).
Better gloves

I think that the Arhats Tekko +1 would be better then these gloves because they always have evasion +5 and enmity +2 regardless of the region control

Notes:
VIT, Evasion, and Parrying bonuses apply only when in an area outside your nation's control.

Outside of nation's control

for something like Dungeons

does this mean the bonus is always in effect, or if the dungeon belongs to a area, then it's bonus isn't in effect?

Next time you're in a dungeon in a region controlled by a specific nation, and are there for long enough to see a Conquest update, have a look at it. It will say, "This area is currently controlled by <country>." All zones within the region are considered as being under the cotrol of that nation, including dungeons.

So if Sandy controls Li'telor and you're running around boyahda tree with them, expect no bonus unless you're windurstian or bastokan.

I think you can get these with conquest points from Windurst, but its about rank 8, 40,000 CP. Bastok's 'Ex' CP rank 8 item is Presidental Hairpin http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=5305
