I'm sitting with my THF capped out at 276 EVA skill. With Boxer's mantle I'm at 286, with Evasion Torque 293, and in conquest regions outside of my nation's control I'm at 303. I know I'll get an Evasion Earring to boost it to 306 for normal circumstances, but I can't resiset the idea of THF + BRD and EVA skill with both Melody +1 earrings equipped sitting at 315. 315. Can you even imagine? That's SOOO many levels above 75. Can any other skill in the game be increased that much? I've heard of THF's tanking Boroka, and with 315 EVA skill, I can imagine it.

This is so wrong that I started getting a headache as I read it.
It is somewhat understood that Evasion Skill > Evasion when you discuss which is better.
There is a reason for this.
The law of diminishing returns is applied by the game (it is believed) so that your +Evasion & -Evasion gear total is modified by your AGI and +AGI/-AGI gear and food.
So essentially, if you have +19 Evasion gear you may actually get +17 evasion or +22 evasion (ACTUAL) based upon your total agility. Evasion SKILL modifying equipment does not filter through this process, therefore you can wear Evasion SKILL equipment without having to also use slots for AGI bonus gear so as to not lose your bonus to evasion.
To put it simply: EVASION SKILL > EVASION
If anybody is interested in the formula, here it is:
(NATURAL AGILITY+AGILITY BONUS)*.05 = AGIMODIFIER
SQRT(EVASION BONUS) * AGIMODIFIER = TRUE EVA BONUS
NATURAL EVASION + TRUE EVA BONUS + EVASION SKILL BONUSES = ACTUAL EVASION

For a lv58 NIN, evasion is capped at 183. When two of these are equipped, evasion is capped at 195.
Meaning?
You are essentially evading at 4 levels higher then what you actually are (+3 evasion skill every level). Blink tanking raptors in Vally of Sorrows at lv58 would be nearly impossible (Peryton's as well (sp?)). With two of these and a bard, you're basically tanking as lv62. Evasion skill + 6 > Evasion +5.
The reason the Evasion Earring (lv30 +3 eva skill) is so expensive is due to the fact that there are virtually no Eva skill+ items at that level.

no offense to you but evasion skill is alot more important than the EVA+ that some items give. for isnatnce the evasion earring which raises 3 evasion skill is ALOT better than an elusive earring which raises eva by 5

actually if what u say is right, that means that evasion skill increases the chance of eva skill up and how much .1's go up. that being said this earring would be so great for thief, reason being, chr is needed for TH, as its speculated b/c of the relic armor having chr on it, and also b/c i currently have eva at 258 uncapped, its not easy finding mobs that can raise ur eva anymore w/o u being tank and risking death at lvl75. so any eva skill "assister" would be awesome. just... 2 cents. be sure to have a bard with u when u skill up XD

I use this and a Beast Earring as my end-game.... they are both pretty good for a BRD, but there are not too many good earring for BRD.

wtf would a bard waste their earring option on a beastly? it doesnt do evasion skill, adds same chr, adds pointless axe skill, and once you pick the beastly earring you can't get one of the better ones.

On my server the +1 versions are about 400k - 500k per earring. The regular versions run 50k or so. The difference is 1 extra CHR and 1 extra Eva. per earring. Also, you get that nifty 'white outline'.
For bards these earrings are great, because, the Latent Evade kicks in, not when low HP, but rather anytime you are buffed by a song. This is, all the time for a Bard, so they are a good buy. Probably the best (if not the best definately in the top 3) Earrings for Bard in the game.

So the regular version is Latent Effect: Evasion 1, and the +1 have Evasion 6??? That's a big jump in numbers there.
