For the small number of fights I actually still kite as a PLD, these legs are insanely useful. In my shell, PLDs and RDMs get a slight priority on these, but it's all point based, so if you work hard enough, it doesn't matter.

I went something like 1/16 Kirin fights where I was first to lot, and something like 5/50 fights total on droprate. Seems like it's about a 10% droprate for the W Legs Abj... :-/

I must admit though, these almost never come off unless I am straight tanking something fairly difficult, or fighting a demon type mob, or a mob with the Dragoon job.

As a unexpected side effect, I have also saved a small fortune on sneak oils. As a PLD/NIN, I can get to Fafnir with a single oil, and can get to most places in sky with no sneak oils at all. Being able to outrun almost everything and working the portals fast enough makes it possible.

Side note: Is it still possible to intimidate yourself wearing these assuming you have an item with the Dragon Killer ability? I have been told yes, but have been unable to do so with the few tests I have done...

Kirin does not drop these. It drops the Wyrmal Abjuration: Legs that can be used with Cursed Cuisses or Cursed Cuisses -1 to be made into the Crimson Cuisses or the HQ version called Blood Cuisses.

That's how my HNMLS handles it. I got lucky and Kirin dropped 2 Abjurations a few weeks back, with only one PLD around to lot on the first one. These are insanely useful when fighting Deathberry and are pretty nice for Kirin also.
Confirmed Info on Speed+ Stacking
# Sep 10 2005 at 6:10 PM Rating: Good
Confirmed: These Cuisses DO stack with Mazurka.

Mazurka + Flee = Flee speed only

Cuisses + Flee = Flee speed only

Basicly, the formula is this: Flee is the fastest you can go. Once you reach that "speed limit" you cannot go any faster than the speed of flee. However, gears with speed+ and mazurka DO stack because you have not broken the game's built in "speed limit."

Unfortunately, Mazurka + Crimson cuisses is NOT a good idea for tanking. As soon as you are attacked (if it makes contact, or it's a missed attack) Mazurka is cancelled. Also, as you know, Mazurka is no good "indoors."

They should have Mazurka II that works inside! ^^ Oh well, I can dream...

all the crimson/blood stuff is good but the only bad part about it is that it turns u into a drag.
for example sometimes if u have the crimson/blood equip and u try to cure a drag it will say "your name" is intmadited by "name of the dragoon you r trying to cure"
thats the onlu small downside to them

Movement + Does not stack
# Jun 01 2005 at 4:39 PM Rating: Default
Sorry to bust everyones bubble but Movement speed does NOT stack ; ; I have tested several different methods while racing others...

Flee = Speed of a Chocobo
I tested this 2 ways... once side by side race and another by auto follow someone on a choco while usin flee to see if the choco would pull away at all... Nope same exact speed

Flee & Strider = Do not stack
No change in speed at all...

Flee & (city) Aketon = Do not stack
No change in speed at all...

Flee & Strider & (city) Aketon = Do not stack
No change in speed at all...

Im not able to equip these Crimson Cuisses but i dont believe that these would be any exception to any other Movement + equip.

I have yet to try Chocobo Mazurka + Flee... but from what i hear Mazurka DOES stack with Movement + gear.

You left out a combo that actually stacks, a friend of mine is a level 74 BRD and when he uses THF as a sub to farm he uses Flee and casts Chocobo Mazurka on himself, it's insane to watch him fly across the fields.

isn't Flee like the "speed of light" in FF? meaning you can't go any faster than it? (w/ the exception of chocobo)... or in other words, wearing these and "fleeing" will not make you faster than someone who is "fleeing" w/o them.. ?

Wrong, sorry, but this armor is sublime for DRG/mage. Yes, you will loose about 15 HP per healing breath, but 25 mp goes a long way and more than makes up for it. Also, if things get out of control and you find yourself sprinting for a zoneline, 12% movement speed could mean a difference between life and death. I understand that kiters should have first dibs, and these are exceptionally good for many jobs, but... the boost this armor, the whole set even, gives DRG is unbelievable, even if you only equip at the battles beginning for buff mp.

I want the whole crimson set for my drg/whm. Half for Style points(Since I'll be making my own cursed armor anyway) and half for the very nice MP boost. Doubt I would use it much if going after big mobs in a group, but I would love it for soloing around.

This is useless for DRG/mage. AF1 Pants (Wyvern HP +10%) > all else for DRG/mage. Wyvern Healing Breath is based on Wyverns TP and Wyverns HP.

Jobs that kite should have 1st call on these pants.

As far as our LS is conerned, we've fought quite a bit over who needs these the most. In the end, it is the Rangers. Red Mage it is utterly useless for if you're a good Red Mage. You should never have to run out of the way of AoE, come on >> you should be smarter than that~ Stay out of the range anyways. Paladin and Ranger are only ones it benefit of the jobs listed, all other jobs just like to show off in Jeuno. Paladin I don't think it needs it as much because....they barely ever kite. Ranger are the primary kiters vs Kirin in our group...and whoever said you need to kite Faust.. O_O
We have never kited him and yesterday we did him with 2 Ninjas, no PLD and had no problems. Risky, yes, but I don't even see the point of kiting him. The only time I'd find these to be useful for a Paladin is the King Behemoth fight, other than that, Koenig legs are better.

Oh, and no these don't stack with Strider Boots. ;;

That's my arguement too, I'm slowly convincing people I think..either way it's true. When you're trying to cure people with Crimson Cuisses and Striders you need to be able to catch them.

Ideally you would be able to run in front of them to cure... However Kirin doesn't always save Astral Flow, Stonega IV and Deadly Hold for when it's "ideal."
Umm.
# Jan 13 2005 at 7:58 PM Rating: Excellent
GilaVerde, PLD need this much more than RDM... and RNG's after that, IMO. It's not like PLD will use this when actually tanking things - they will just use it to kite things around (like Kirin and Faust), which is extremely helpful.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 14 2005 at 1:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Our linkshell don't kite too much. The last time our PLD kite was on AA GK during AAx5. We never kite Faust (who does that?), Genbu can be kite but really, how fast is that turtle?

Who kites faust? lol

A party of 5 can kite faust and kill within 12min. That's why people kite faust. Atleast thats why we do. I'll shutup if you straight tank faust with a pt of 5. :)

Why bring so many people to faust? Straight tanking faust is kinda noob to be honest. I'm sorry. If you have extra resource, send them off doing better things like scouting for other stuff or get curtanas. You're wasting yours and your LS's time.

I'm in the ninja party when fighting Kirin so I'm near ninja's and whm for refresh and gravity. I'm always chasing ninjas so in harms way.
Ninjas do their best to trade hate but its not always the case.

I'll work on the video of our LS fighting Faust without kiting. It can be done and with 6 ppl.

The very fact that you think that Faust needs to be kited in order to kill him shows how little you really know.

One PLD stand on teleporter pad and tanks Faust straight up. Healers use more frequent Cure II's to avoid hate and people nuke at him. Simple.

I didn't take a video but I did take a screenshot of the log parser information for the last Faust we fought (for obvious reasons, you'll see).

http://tribe.halfofme.com/faust.gif

PT setup:
Bravus(me) pld75/war37
Rokar whm70/blm35
Riotz rng75/nin37
Metheny rdm75/drk37
Essifen whm69/smn34

Onimusha nin73/war36
Skooboy drg75/thf37
Hikaro sam75/nin37

I separated the bottom 3 because they didn't have much of a place in this fight. Melee dd are not really any good when you tank Faust because they end up becoming mp sponges, needing heals and not producing enough dd to justify it. Ninjas are out of the equation for obvious reasons, unless they toss shurikens I suppose. ^^b

When you tank Faust, rather than kite, you simply stand near one of those outcroppings in the teleport room so that you don't get knocked around while having the mages throw some cures at you. Everyone except the tank stands on the teleporter or otherwise far enough away from typhoon but in range for casting/ranged attack.

This was an atypical fight, going at him with 5 people. It took about 35 minutes because hate had to be managed enough so that Faust didn't run after the rng or mages, though it did happen a few times.

In my ls I/we always tank him straight up rather than kiting... though for the record I was in favor of kiting him that time... again, for obvious reasons.

(excitement)

Did Kirin over the weekend and got W. Abj legs to drop. The way our LS is set up is jobs with needs gets first lots. Our leader decided that pld should use this more then other jobs, mainly for kiting.

I'm a rdm and would like to get this instead of A. Abj legs. I personally don't think pld should use this. They're losing VIT and +Eminity for some speed.
I currently use my rdm pants during melee fights. Given that I'm a Mithra, rdm pants don't look good and the speed should go to mages. Just my opinion but like to hear what others think.

When I see "Genbu starts casting Waterga III" I always try to run far away from mages so if it isn't Stunned they don't get hit... when it isn't stunned it often lands, now I guess the C.Legs would let me outrun it...
IMO if I ever see a RDM in my alliance wearing this, I will run straight to him lol xD

Edit: forgot that there is Water Def +20 on it <.< that'd help on Waterga >.>

Striders and Crimson Legs do not stack. The 12% movement speed makes your base speed 12% faster...so with flee or with chocobo mazurka song, anyone with striders or Crimson Leg will be a bit faster because their base starting point speed was 12% higher.

First thing to do is turn off your Caps Lock. ;)
Second, You won't see them at the AH going for 7 or 8 Million. This is because they are Rare/Ex. They are part of the Crimson Abjuration set (Western Abjuration). These are created by removing the curse from Cursed Cuisses, which requires getting a Wester Abjuration piece from Fafnir or Genbu. I believe I'm correct on that, but If I'm wrong please do correct me.

The Cursed Cuisses are Crafted:
Alchemy (Veteran):
- Dark Crystal
- Dragon Cuisses
- Revival Root
- Dragon Blood
Hiqh Quality Result: Cursed Cuisses -1

Removing the curse from the HQ Cursed Cuisses -1 will result in Blood Cuisses, which are the HQ version of Crimson Cuisses

Blood Cuisses: Lvl 73 RDMPLD/DRK/RNG/DRG Def 44
HP+27 MP+27 Fire+21 Lightning+21 Water+21 Dark+21 Movement Speed +12%

I've seen the Crimson Armour in game, but have never seen any of the HQ versions (the Blood Armours), so I'm not sure if the HQ is feasible, but the recipe and stats are in there. :)

I would guess that in order to get the -1 Cursed Cuisses you'd need the +1 version of the Dragon Cuisses in the synth. Or maybe it's the same as just having the necessary skill/luck to get it. Only a speculation, any proof in either direction of how it really works will hold my attention.
