i get what your saying, with the different ways of puting the same kind of thing. but most of the time, there is a very good reason for this. For example, there arent any major difference between +30MP -30HP and Converts 30HP to MP. There is however a difference between +30hp -30mp and Converts 30MP to HP. The second gives you 30hp and takes away 30mp, but if you dont have 30mp, you still get the 30hp. However, anythin with CONVERTS in it means you must have the relevant mp/hp for it to be taken away. Of course everyone has HP, but not all jobs have MP. so for my first example there isn't much difference because everyone has HP, so you get 30HP anyway. However on the second, the difference between the two is much greater, one you get HP anyway regardless of mp, the other you must have the mp to convert it to HP. Hope this helps :)

ps. on this same note, i noticed you spoke of the intellect of player. I beg to differ lol. Examples:

The amount of people that use the word "then" instead of "than".... i have more MP then you.. that pisses me off.
However more to the point, the amount of extra money people will pay for a +1 item. It's not because its so much better than the normal, because often its 1 additional stat, GOOD EG hq level 51 staves. NQ 30k for light staff, HQ 700k... You get 1 extra stat on each and thats it. People arent smart, most people in this game are stupid, and that's not a generalisation, its true! hope this helps lol

Quick premise: I am sure many of you have noticed, nominclature of items in this game are far from consistant! Thanks to the fact the majority of the players are quite intelligent, and can figure out how the mechanics of this game works, we are able discern the use and meaning of item texts in most situations. Examples would be...

Just looking at these items, one enhances the effect ...(by how much?), one adds 2% ... (is that on the base, is it additive, what number do you start with? ), and one add "1" to the effect ... (so is there some number I can add that to, how does that affect percentage?)

...Now, thanks to intelligent players, who LOVE figuring the mathmatical inexorablilities, of the mechanics, of this game, we can understand what these all mean....

Ok, I haven't been able to equip the "Blue Cape" yet as my mage jobs are just getting to 65, and I am a little confused by the text on this item. I haven't had the ability to equip the "Empowering Mantle" or any type like it HP +10 HP +1% MP +10 MP +1%. My question on the "Blue Cape" is as it reads..."Def: 6 MP: 15 Vs. Fire: -10 Vs. Ice: 5 Vs. Water: 5 VS. Lightning: -10 Vs. Earth: 5 Vs. Wind: 5 Vs. Dark: 5 Vs. Light: 5 Convert HP to MP: 15".....

Does this cape provide 15MP total, by converting 15HP into 15MP, or does the cape provide 15MP, and additionally provide another 15MP by converting 15HP into 15MP, for a total of +30MP, -15HP? Also can anyone figure out WHY 'SE' chose to word these items, less than straight forward? I mean they could have saved space, and any confusion whatsoever by either A) Writing MP: +30 HP: -15 (like the Electrum hairpin), or if it only adds a total of 15MP, simply sticking with Converts 15HP to MP (like Serket Ring)?

This is late, but just to clarify.

It gives +30 MP total, 15 basic and 15 from HP to MP Conversion. As to the ambiguity in naming conventions for items such as this on the part of S.E.? Who knows ._.

How about you level up some before you say that. kthxbai

As for this cape, it's very good for WHM and SMN. 30 MP is more than other capes will give you.. and MP is the main concern of WHM and SMN. The INT and MND bonuses of Rainbow Cape don't really do much for WHM and SMN, they only need MP and this cape gives them more.

WHM has a use for mnd and possibly even int in the case of an emergency es+sleep.

RNG/WHM on HNM is a viable use of WHM sub, the MP from this is helpful. (not to mention the bonuses to elemental rezistance)casting stoneskin on themselves when a monster has a very strong AOE saves MP for the WHM, not to mention the MND helps with the additional effect DMG on holy bolts.

Just a question, but as a whm what would you want to wear: Blue or Sapient Cape?

Blue: -15HP +15MP; +5 ice, wind, earth, water, light, dark; -10 fire, thunder; DEF 6; +15MP

Sapient: INT +2, MND +2; enmity -2; DEF 4

Me thinks, as a whm, I would want the Sapient Cape, but I dont know about spending 300k+ on it. I also have the Royal Mantle (MND+2,STR+2) Im torn bewteen which one to get. I know the -enmity is nice, thats kinda why I got rid of my second electrum ring for a peace ring. Any advice would be nice. Thanks ahead!

You could just make a macro for it all. I have a macro the puts on all my mp gear, my dark staff, and makes me rest. Then after I use that mp I have another macro I can use to put on all -enmity gear. I don't worry about MND to much myself.

MP > MND as a general rule. While -enmity is nice, by the time you're level 60 you should be in full AF for -10 enmity, cumulative. You said you have a peace ring, which means your total enmity is -11 and you've lost 10 MP over the Electrum ring. For regular XP that is plenty, assuming you're a competent WHM and you have a competent tank watching out for you.

Unless you're taru, I would suggest the +30 MP that comes from the Blue Cape over the +2 MND and -2 enmity. If you're taru, I'd suggest a red cape +1 or rainbow cape (71) to boost your MND.

Rng can actually wear a lot of mage armours, odd but true.

For instance vermillion cloak is also equipable by rangers.

I would think that of the jobs listed there, Ranger would be the one least likely to be able to use this. Damn, I saw someone wearing this in Bastok just yesterday, but I totally forgot all of its stats so I can't really confirm or deny anything.
