I have this Great Axe for my WAR and I must admit, its pretty sweet. There are maybe four Great Axes better then this in game.

1.) Bravura (Relic)

2.) Abaddon Killer (Stage 4 Relic, has higher DPS with + DEX and VIT)

3.) Perdu Axe (When Latent is active)

4.) Toporok+1 (has higher DPS with + DEX and VIT)

5.) Byakko's Axe

6.) Berserkers Axe (Hi DPS but with no extra stats)

This is just a rough list but you can get a general idea that the Byakko's Axe falls high on the list of nicer great Axe's until you can get any one of the four above it. The Byakko's Axe is also much easier to get then any of the top four I listed. I would say that the killer effect kicks in about <15% of the time. Either way, with this GreatAxe, my Steel Cyclone damage hits for about 1500-2000dmg with SA, berserk, warcry, aggressor, and 300%TP. Makes for an awesome show.
Best Axe in Game?

I've seen Byakko's Axe drop once from Ullikummi as well. If you're on Diabolos, ask Outlaw to show it to you.

Ulli drops a different axe, Byakko only drops this.

If this was some form of sarcasm, then it went over my head :D

There's the trait kicking in, war/nin :D
Let me try to clairify

Ok...True that some job traits (like dual wield and fast cast) require a subjob to be the job that that trait is connected with, these newer items with xxxx-killer traits do not. Though you will not see them show up in your job trait menu, they will be active.

Sorry but that is absolutely not true. If it said Beast Killer +1 (or whatever) you'd get a small amount of that ability (example Triple Dagger and "Triple attack +1%)

If it says "enhances" you get nothing unless you have the ability because there is nothing to enhance.

Orz >< If it only enhanced the trait and didn't give it to you, why would this be on a WAR/DRK only item when BST gets Beast Killer at level 65?

How much damage does the Additional Affect: Wind Damage kick in for? 10-20 damage?
Seriously

Dude shut up if you do not know what the **** you are talking about. It does give the affect. My buddy has the axe. Go learn to play the game before you want to talk about it.

xxx killers
# Sep 09 2004 at 1:35 PM Rating: Excellent
Soo many False Info here jesus christ shut up if you dont know what you are talking about.

All XXXX- Killers have a random chance to paralyze the enemy if it kicks in when it tries to attack you. By equiping this weapon or any other item that -enhances xxxx Killer effects- you DO get the trait. So a warrior Tanking a Tiger for instance, will occasionally see -The Tiger is Intimidated by (Warrior name)'s Presence-. If you dont Tank a mob, then you get no benefit, as this effect can only kick in when the mob is Attacking you! And this will work regardless of your SUBJOB, you dont need to have BST subjob'd or Mainjob'd for it to kick in. And finally BST DO GET BEAST KILLER it is the final Xxxxx Killer Trait that they get at level 70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I'm a Warrior, I have this Axe, yes, Tigers do get intimidated from time to time when i'm using this, even though its pretty rare. only happened maybe 10 times in 2 hours while I was camping Nue one night
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 07 2004 at 9:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) read the first post... it says ADDS beast killer effect.... dummies... as in ADDS it to your ability list. so many stupid ppl out there.. lol

Enhances basically means that you gain the ability even regardless of subjob. I have tested this with the Koenig Sheild, this weapon, and the Arete de Sol.

Where is it? Hahahaha...only Byakko, one of the four HNM "gods" you have to kill in order to fight Kirin, the toughest monster in the game, drops it.
RE: where is it
# Feb 06 2005 at 3:20 AM Rating: Decent
Dude, Byakko is definately not the hardest HNM in the game...allow me to refer to Vrtra and Tiamet...to name a few. I'm pretty sure that those are harder. I don't see "OMG THIS GUYS IS INSANE! YOU NEED 3 ALLIANCES TO BEAT HIM" spamming the messageboards for Byakko. Byakko = Tame compared to Tiamet, and Tiamet = Tame compared to Vrtra...Hardest NM...bah
RE: where is it

Jormy is harder then tiamet and vrtra, vrtra is the easiest of the 3... just his adds are a pain in the ***

He didn't say Byakko was the hardest, he said Kirin was. Learn to read and understand English grammar. The comma's represent a break(pause) in the sentence. Read it outloud, slowly. Dude.
RE: where is it
# May 12 2006 at 9:55 PM Rating: Decent
god since when are we all english majors? I have rarely seen good grammar on these boards and I am no different. As long as we get our point across who cares. And the dude said that Byakko, whom drops the Axe; is needed to be killed in order to fight Kirin, the hardest NM in the game. (Although I disagree) I hope this clears it up!
RE: where is it
# Oct 12 2005 at 8:31 PM Rating: Default
Actually, it was the orignal poster's grammar that was poor. His thoughts were not organized well "kirin, the hardest monster in the game, drops it" literally means hes saying kirin is the hardest monster in the game (at that point in time) and that it drops the axe. which is false, as byakko clearly drops the axe. the original poster most likely knew this, but dont attack the guy because he misunderstood poor grammar.

Nope, his grammar is just fine. There are two sets of parentheticals bounded by commas, and the second set is inside the first. While it's ambiguous, there's absolutely nothing ungrammatical about it, and any poster who is both familiar with Byakko and literate should have no problem reading the intended meaning out of the sentence. The second reading makes Kirin less powerful than a god you need to kill in order to pop Kirin, and the oddness of that should have been more than enough to tell any attentive reader exactly which reading he should find in the sentence.

Can anyone explain to me what the "Beast Killer" effect is and if it is a War or Drk abbility. Also at what lvl it is gained. Thanks in advance.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 07 2004 at 1:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Beast killer is not a WAR or DRK ability... that is true.

It doesn't let you hit them harder, it occasionally intimidates them, making them lose a "turn" of attack (like paralysis). I can confirm this, as I've leveled BST and had this experience with vermin and "Vermin Killer" ..
#REDACTED, Posted: May 28 2004 at 11:56 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Only the Vermin Killer effect give paralyze to vermin (insects)
