Just got my drop! :D I randomly ran to BO to see if any NMs were up and saw both up in tha back. Asked LS for help and SMN BLU and PLD came to assist me (Pld72). TOok down RNG (as a mistake in names on pull :P) and then the older brother who was a bit more difficult due to Manafont Thundaga III. 1/1 ^^ Now my PLD has a great Great Sword!

Ok here it is. THIS GS IS ONLY GODLY FOR A DRK. Reasons why MND is the Modifier for this. I party in bhaflau thickets or whatever and kill drgs for the most bang for my buck. Light damage with increased MND from a drk is a killer. My damage for is about ranges from 100-120 additional effect 40-50 so thats around 140-170 total. With increased MND its 100-120 additional effect 80-100. So im pretty sure you can do the math here. well GL on this .. I got mine 1/3.

Ok now this is worth it As a 70 bst i have no trouble soloing either or both NMs i killed them today with a buddy bst of mine no drop but im anxious to get back at it again as for Arondight however you might spend months camping that rediculous GS and have nothing to show for it... just sooo damn stupid. As for Light damage vrs Dragons okgo and since Phanduron is a blm does not take long to kill him <3 Blm weak def.. just look at the delay on that weapon this is Grade A in my book why buy Balmung???

wow... i had no idea what this sword was, never even seen anyone on the server with it, BUT i got it yesterday, a rdm friend dragged me out, something about a shadow mask, well me her and a another friend kicked both of these NMS asses and yes we carby pulled. Got the GS drop and nothing else. So it went to me and now, i guess now i have to lvl great sword! =/

Whats the proc rate, and dmg, on Dragon/Wyvern type mobs? It looks like a very interesting weapon.

It took me roughly 11 attempts until the sword dropped. When it dropped my LS came in droves and we overkilled the shadow. It's been fun hutning these guys for the past few months (due to lost ToD, lost claim and misc. reasons) but finally getting the drop was beautiful. It's a very pretty sword, and I plan on using it whole-heartedly. Having hunted them with such dedication, I can tell you all that their spawn is 60-72 hours for sure. However, moreso than not they have spawned in the last 2-3 hours of that 12 hour window, and rarely any sooner. The drop rate can suck pretty badly, but if you have some lucky THFs or know a THF with a THF knife, bring him or her or them along if you can. I'm glad I'm done with these NMs now. On to rarer and more obscure items. (I've only seen two of these on Shiva, one person said they had it but never showed me, and now I have the third or fourth.)

NIN or PLD can tank these. I recommend NIN to conserve mp so the pt can be healed after Phanduron Manafonts and starts casting -ga spells. I've never seen anyone able to Stun him irregardless of Manafonting or the caster ESing Stun. Just have a decent pt, of high level and you'll be fine. Carby pull does work, and so does BST pull. I've been using both. Remember to SNEAK then Carby or BST pull. Happy hunting.

I'm 0\2 on drops from this bad boy. He don't joke around. Paralyze it and hope it stops his -aga's, which both times it did. It gimped him badly. Don't bother with a pld tanking this, dimensional death will annihilate him. after i killed them both once, i checked again every night afterwards. i didnt see him again until almost 2 weeks later, so im pretty sure the 72+ hrs is correct if not more like 1 week. but i doubt its 2 weeks because the japanese might have gotten him. i know of no one on my server currently camping him ever. they just sit there unclaimed for days if i didnt go check on my "children" every now and then :P. There are better GS's, but damn its gotta be pimp just to have it. shows u worked hard for something as well. both times only 1 shadow mask dropped period. no crossbow or GS from them either time. Bring a THF!

this actually might make a decent solo weapon for pld >.> +3 str, +3 vit, +3 mnd but as for exp pt's i would rather have a one handed sword and shield. but im not sure being that im only lv 32 ;;
