Soloed as MNK75/DNC37
# May 26 2008 at 3:04 PM Rating: Decent
Just wanted to give everyone here a heads up. This CAN be soloed by mnk75/dnc37. I ham currently 0/2 on this guy and even though he is a pain in the *** being a whm mob, the Bomb toses are not that bad. The only thing that really hurts is the BanishgaIII >.<!
Nothing really special about this fight. No extra buffs. I did go into the fight with about 100 TP saved for curing waltz II and drain samba II at start. Other than that, he was straight up tanked. Fight lasted about 15-20 min and I was able to use Chakra twice during the fight. Good luck on the staff guys!

Ok, I got my staff about an hour ago and have been messing around with it :) 1/3 on NM >_<; Ok here are the facts:

*The staff itself has +7STR.. this STR remains active until you change weapon

*About every 1/10 hits will result in a special

*You will receive a +5-7 STR bonus

*This bonus diminishes by 1 STR every 5 seconds til it no longer remains, then the +STR status symbol will disapear

*The bonus STR stays on even if you change weapon (although TP is obviously lost) and is usable

*After you change weapon, the bonus continues to diminish

Possible strategy:
1) Use staff til STR Bonus kicks in (Shouldn't take more than 30seconds)
2) Switch to weapon of choice
3) Use an Icarus Wing
4) Use Weapon Skill

I can see this being very useful in Maat provided you capped your staff so you could hit. +7STR is a LOT considering people are willing to pay millions and millions of gil even for +1STR.... Not to mention, +1STR costs 50k of merit EXP once you've obtained the first few stat increases with merits.
hmm...

I think i'd melee w/ Jupiter's Staff. More dmg, crit hit rate bonus, plus it adds dmg to lightning spells. idk tho
soloed with bst

this gob was a cake... i soloed with my 75 bst charater darkshell. charmed a dc lizard... and just pulled it to a spot where the mob are far away. and just killed it there... it was a easy fight... bomb toss are weak. and it only does whm 2hr. note* it does 2hr when it has 40% hp. got the staff not really useful to me but it was a fun fight. i'll post a pic of it now...

A guy in Dynamis last night had this thing on him. He said the STR boost procs fairly often, and that he has had as much as an additional 6-9 STR added, though it degrades over time like a tier-2 Etude song. ie, if it procs to +6 str, it drops to +5 in a few seconds, then 4, 3, ~~~ etc. Also, the "STR Boost" is in addition to the +7 STR you already get from this thing.

If this buff stacks with itself, then this staff must be godlike with Hundred Fists

i see this staff as being best for a BST that melee's along with his pet .. even as a skillup staff a mage should have on a staff that will help with more then just DD for when the do have to cast

Staff skill would pwn, but I think i'd just use apollo's for uber charming and not lose tp to charm. Spirit taker would be so awesome. Idk why bst doesnt get staff skill and then Goblin Shepards drop staves. Actually I know why BST doesnt get staff skills... it'd pwn too much. Same with ranged skills.

Lol, no they can't. You should know what you're talking about, before you start laughing at someone else, for what you think is ignorance.

I think you two are getting it mixed up. The first person said BST doesn't have any skills on Staff. If you check, they don't. They can USE a staff, but you can't gain any skills with it as a BST. Unless your sub has level'd their own staff skill. Go to Mysterytour, check the grade on skills for every job. BST doesn't have a staff skill. They have a club skill (cause every job has a club skill), but not staff. For the 2nd person that laughed at the first person, you read what he said wrong. I don't think he meant that BST can't "wear" it, he's saying they don't have a skill for it (i.e. they can't raise any skills with it) unless you have a subjob (like i said already) that already level'd staff.

JP

P.S. If people say "well somepage says they have a ws for it" it's because it's following your sub-job, not the main. That's like a PLD checking their AXE Skill and the only reason why they have some it's because of WAR sub.

That's just like saying all jobs can use G.Katana the hardwood katana from the armour event earlier this year. Hell you can jump off a cliff, don't mean it's a good thing to do!

well i just tried it while skillupin staff :

I had 47 +18 STR as whm 66 and 47 +24 with the bonus, wich triggered once or twice per fight (rarely 3 but it was short fights).

Not sure if its better than Battle staff* for DMG, but the shorter delay is nice for skillup ^^.

(*Battle staff DMG 49 delay 407 acc+3 attack+10)

Str Up

Adds 3 strength per successful hit, but the effect diminishes over time (about 1 strength per 3 sec)
Excellent farming item, but you won't really get much of a bonus in an exp party since you'll miss so much.

What do u mean by Successful hit?
Just when u hit it or when the additional trigger?

it would be so awesome if it was just when u hit it ^^ just got it as whm 58 i cant wait till 66!
How it works

Like most additional effects on weapons, they don't always kick in on every swing. I'm fairly sure this would raise your character's strength every few swings and provide a stronger-than-normal attack for a short duration, most likely just 1 swing.

i seriously doubt SE would have a weapon that actually BUFFS your opponent >.> unless someone came up with the idea "hey, lets make a staff that PC can't melee with" -_- not likely IMHO....

more likely is the idea of the user getting a STR buff whenever it kicks in... possibly even just for the next strike to eliminate worrys over how long it should last...

I'd imagine it works like most weapon additional effects.

Occasionally, when you strike a mob, it will up your strength by one. What I wouldnt know is how long that extra strength lasts or if it stacks so you could build up +20 STR or something ridiculous

if it were like most weapon additional effects, it would be strength up on the target. Thats not to say all additional effects are, like the one dagger for theives that has additional effect: flee. I'd hope this one were strength up for user, but it could be on the target.
