The only problem is that the egg is equipped into the ammo slot =\ Gives a ton of Ranged Accuracy, but that doesn't really do you any good unless you plan on throwing the egg.

That's the point... With "Unlimited Shot" you can throw/shoot an item and it won't use up any ammo. It's a once every 3 minute skill I believe... for rangers only. IDK if it works as a sub... But hey, pretty much garanteed hit and if the Voke was to kick in it could be improvisional enmity draw!

Ok I was just wondering about this egg. It goes in the Ammo Slot but leaves the Ranged Weapon slot open. Can you insert like a Boomerang or something along the lines of it into the other spot and get the +100 Range Acc? Just curious thanks!

No, unfortunately... Ranged/Ammo have to be a matched set, so you can't combine a Throwing ammo with anything.

Im a 62 DRG and i plan on using this once i hit lvl 75 for my Jumps. +100 Ranged Accuracy..... my jumps would almost never miss. Too bad it dosent give +100 Ranged Attack as well >.>

Umm.. Jumps are based on your Ranged Accuracy and Ranger Attack.. Those are its modifiers, its odd but kinda like how ShadowBind is effected by your intelligence.. Taru Rng own XD lol

no there not jumps are all agi if u have ever seen a high lvl drg u will realize he will have agility gear to and thats why
Um... agility has nothing to do with your jumps. The only things that effect jumps are Accuracy, Dex, Str, and Attack. Jumps are treated just like a normal attack.

What about BST? I think this would be awesome for BST. Since BST have tons of macros you could just macro this in when healing or charming someting hard like slimes,raptors,Tough,Very Tough mobs. I'm definatly gettin 1 when I hit 75BST.
like ne other weapon additional effect does the effect of provoke when is trown. in normal weapons the effect is ocationally but like in rng weapons the effect is evry time so if ur gonna have a pld/nin that pld nin must be rich as F#%@.
My understanding is that this, and the imperial egg are used in the dynamis so that rng/nin's can tank. They use their unlimited shot with this item so they don't loose it, get the initial provoke, and well, the rest is history from there. Now I find the idea of a lvl 75 rng/nin rather disturbing as a tank, and I am too low to see this in action but I have talked to a few Dynamis runners that swear by it. Then again, these are the same ppl that have thfs in their pt specifically to train mobs away and die... :(. I can't wait until I am ready for the dynamis... NOT
Anyways, this item is as powerful as it sounds, as long as you use it with unlimited shot... if you don't, well, then you are a tool and out an obnoxious amount of gil on a single item.

Let's take a look at some stats.

Hmm, PLD/NIN has slightly more VIT than a PLD/WAR, so actually they would be able to take hits better, even without the shadows. Incidentally "once you lose all your shadow which should be quick", you would recast your shadows (with Ichi and Ni, unless you have apalling evasion, there would be only a short time during which shadows are down). The physical def up job trait from WAR sub doesn't stack with the physical def up job trait from PLD main, so no difference there.
PLD/NIN can be very effective tanks, but only when they can keep hate without provoke.
But you're quite right, the provoke from this egg only goes off when you actually throw it (and the act of throwing a 999 delay item would take about 16 seconds, and in this case cost you 3mil gil).

Listen ppl i am a lvl 73 BLM/ 36 WHM, have spent Millions upon Millions on Armour like Full Zenith and Added Mnd and Int (Ya u gutta buy the cursed armour then gutta get the stupid purification cloth, forget the name, and then bring it to the NPC with purifaction). However in all my time on FFXI i have never dreamed of a more perfect Ranged Weapon. Sure it may not personally be a good weap for a lvl 73 BLM like myself, but this is an awsome RNG weap if u feel like usin ur Unlimited Shot to do undiscribed Mutitudes of Damage but you must be willing.
Another down side to this is that you must have the money to spend so i will give u a quick guide you can use to get this item.
1) Listen People of all sorts have asked if this is Dropped by any NM or HNM. The sad answer is no. It must be either bought at the Auction House or crafted with a Goldsmithing skill of lvl 100.
2) Another Question is this item worth it. This all depends on the person. If ur a ranger with a decent income you might seriously consider investing in this item. Danger: YOU MUST HAVE UNLIMTED AMMO OR YOU HAVE A POTENTIAL DANGER OF LOSING A 2-6 MILLION ITEM!
3) Finnaly people have asked wether to purchase the item or waste the time lvling Goldsmithing up to lvl 100 and makeing the item. Again depends on the user. What an amazing item. I wonder how much this costs on my server. This is like the camping wizard if you're thf/rng and equip it...not that it's necessarily even worth it to camp when one has other options available.

This egg serves many purposes. It can be equipped to ensure that any character will hit almost 100% of the time. The added acc on this is insane. Anybody will tell you that HP+4 while healing is a great thing to have. As for the added provoke? Do you think that a Pld/Mnk or Pld/Nin wouldn't love to have provoke? War is only a good sub for pld because of provoke. If you ever get rich enough or high enough in crafting to get one of these. Do it. For gods sake don't freaking throw it. Do you honestly want to take the chance of losing a multimillion gil item?

The ranged accuracy +100 only works when you're throwing the egg, because to use any other ranged attack you would have to unequip the egg, thus losing that +100 ranged accuracy. Also, the provoke only works when u throw the egg, so it only works once. But i do agree that it would be nice if SE gave us pld's our own provoke so we weren't forced into subbing war for exp pt's.

Well if you a Ranger/Ninja Tank w/ Utsusemi this is like 5x provoke with barrage/unlimited. I'd say it's for those who wanna abandon war just for voking lol. Not worth the risk... If you DO want this for tanking then DONT make ranged a macro...

hate to break it to you, but barrage actually uses 1-5 of the ammo you are using. if you have one ammo, it will just hit once 1 no matter what.

Well idk if this is possible but if it was it would be tight....... use unlimited shot and barrage and then throw this....... can u say DMG= complete and total death..... or if they made WS for throwing items like sidewinder and slug shot...... /em uses unlimited shot..... /em uses barrage...... /em rdys throwing WS of death.... /em kills the King Behemoth lol so if anyone knows about the stacking of unlimited shot and barrage being possible plz correct me!

1 - The egg is for Ranger - Unlimited Shot / Barrage kinda thing if its possible to combine them..
This is thrown, but Unlimited shot means it does not get used up
2 - The "provoke" effect, when used at level 75 (level 75 to equip) is not going to make a MAJOR impact on hate, especially if your Paladin is doing its good job
3 - This is used on HNM, your not going to use this (at least very often) in an exp PT at level 75
4 - It's used to show off,..

This egg is for doing that last bit of damage needed to take out a large mob with unlimited shot + barrage. You absolutely have to use unlimited shot because this egg is a lvl 100 goldsmithing craft that sells for about 2 million on siren.

Im sorry, but this seems like a very silly question... Given how rare this item is and how powerful, you do not want to throw it at all. I have seen lots of people with happy eggs, they just put them in the ammo slot to get the effect (so thay can equip it). I feel sorry for the person that throws this egg at all, im sure they would be very sad. If i am wrong and have somehow missed something which makes me look silly please correct, thanks. ^.^

A RNG could use Unlimited Shot, toss it and not lose the Egg. ^^
i read about 50 threads below talking about a rng using unlimited shot with this, since when is a ranger getting hate a good thing? yea, it might be good if you like to die, other than that it would be horrible for a ranger.

If you had read the posts above you'd know that the ppl who'd throw it are the ones who'd use Unlimited Shot when throwing it. "sooooo yeah," the rng acc+100 would help and the DMG would be something nice to see.

of all the flames i've seen posted here, i didn't notice anything stating how you get this other than at the AH, what drops this?...i'm guessing some HNM perhaps?

this could be good for a PLD/NIN, a PLD that still wants utsemi(pardon my spelling) and voke. But additional effects sux. My GKT additional effect fire dmg rarely goes off.

As it has been stated time and time again, Additional Effects on Throwing Items only have the chance of even triggering if you throw the item. So this is NOT a good item for a PLD/NIN.
BSTs would use this for the added +4 CHR perhaps lol

The provoke ability only works when you hit the target, not to mention that rangers really suck at taking damage we dont have great hit points and most of our armor doesnt get the greatest def. Plus if a ranger wants provoke they can sub war, which alot do anyways for the attack bonus and extra hp.

I read the post on here and ppl saying that this would be great for rangers must be out of there minds. At lvl 75 a ranger using bow or gun already has 100 damage if not more. Not to metion with the delay, a ranger would have to be insane to even want to use this item. Even with unlimited shot (which btw has a 3 min recharge time) this item is completly worthless to a ranger.

ok, a bard can't use both this and an instrument at the same time, so they can't use it, a pld subbing something other than war won't use it unless they want to pay 2 mil per provoke, and as for a ranger using it with unlimited shot, it has 999 delay and won't do as much damage as a bow or gun with proper ammo, thus there are only 2 uses for it other than the hp regen (not that impressive when you are level 75 and have over a thousand hp), for a bst for chr boost, and for a ranger to provoke if for some bazaar reason you want the ranger to tank.

Are you sure about that? They don't match (an instrument and the egg) so I don't believe that would work. (eg, equip a bow and arrow, then equip bolts, the crossbow is deequiped, same concept here, equip an instrument, then equip the egg, the instrument is unequipped.)
I haven't tried this (don't have the time or level requirement for the egg ^.~), but I'd assume this is how it would work.

RNGs have an abilty called Unlimited Shot. This uses a range attack, but doest cost any ammo. You could use Unlimited Shot, then throw this thing, and you'd get it right back. You wouldn't DEFINATLY not miss, and you'd do a hell of a lot of damage. It'd be a great thing for a RNG to keep around if he has an equipment change macro. Also, the 999 delay ensures that if you accidently use it when you dont mean to, you have enough time to run around and cancel the throw before you lose this precious item.
You CAN NOT equip a bow in your ranged weapon slot and something other than arrows in your ammo slot. It just. Won't. Work. If you put a pebble/egg/etc in your ammo slot, it will unequip your bow. If you put a bow in your ranged slot, it will unequip your pebble/egg/etc.
