After doing endgame events for a long time, I have to say I have VERY mixed feelings on the stats of these. For fighting gods and HNM's, most blm's want EVERY little bit of elemental magic skill that they can get. The reason why is, higher skill = less resist, so your thunder IV doesnt do 30DMG and is a complete waste of magic points and time. And believe me, withotu very high skill levels, gods and HNM's resist like mad. Now dont get me wrong, the Mag Atk bonus is NICE< and definitely has it's merits for the VERY few blms that attempt to solo, or in an exp party for doing a little extra dmg, but for the REALLY tough fights, nothing beats +15 elemental magic skill, thats just HUGE, and I personally think giving that up for a tiny bit of extra dmg is insane. It kind of goes back to the same concept as melee... you can have 999 attack, and a dmg 95 weapon, but will do no damage at all if your ACC is bad, and your skill lvl determines whether you get resisted or not... So to all you blm's (and the few rdm's) that have been drooling over these for a logn time, prepare to be a bit disappointed.

Well as fare as end game events are concerned. I've been able to do quite well with the proper gear for allot of the sky gods and ground gods with these mitts.

My basic set up goes as fallows on my taru.

Keep in mind I have all elemental merits and only one on enfleebling.
I aslo use NG staffs and HQ staff.
Merrits capped on thunder and ice potency.

Only item i change from my basic set up is my elental tourqe and ug pendant.

Once i get below 50% mp i macro in the ug pendant and works realy well. Other than that i keep high elemental set up that i can get.

Zenith for Tarutaru?

heres my opinion, Magic Attack Bonus over anything for any job, Red Mage & Black Mage especially. Your race does not matter, if you are a mage and have the proper subjob, you can keep yourself alive. Worrying about HP is a bad thing to do. If you are worried about HP as a blm or rdm, hang it up and move to another job.

Yeah, m. atk bonus over everything, lmao... Have you ever actually fought an HNM or god? Also, the fact that you feel it's better than ANYTHIGN for RDM as well just kind of makes me want to puke. As RDM, If you are nuking like mad in exp parties, I'd love to know who is enfeebling, hasting, refreshing, etc... Because M.Atk Bonus is USELESS for all that, and if you're one of the RDM's that solos all mobs using the sleep/nuke method, I pity you. Even WITH a great M.Atk Bonus, counting the downtime after the fight, you can spend 10-20 minutes on an easy prey mob at 75! However, I wont get into this discussion now, it's not worth my time..

Hehe I have to agree with the other guy, if you are spending 10-20 mins to solo an EP then you are doing somthing seriously wrong.

I was soloing VT spiders in Dragons Aery today waiting for the Fafnir window, and was averaging 10 mins per kill, not the most efficient XP but it passed the time, and gave me some much needed elemental magic skill ups .

Zenith for Tarutaru?

I solo VT weapons in Sky at 75th as an RDM using the sleep/nuke method, and it takes about half that long. In fact sometimes I finish them off before my convert timer comes up. That's as a Hume by the way. Granted I have about +30 in Elemental Skill Gear and a load of Int gear when doing it. Duoing with a Blm, I can easily manage one every 5 minutes or less depending on how he does.

That said... you are right about one thing, you have a lot better things to be doing in an EXP party than nuking constantly. So the MAB is only useful for MBs and to toss an occasional nuke to finish off a chain. That's why in an HNM the BLMs usually have first dibs.

But the assist in the convert ratio and achieving 1 to 1 hp to mp for a hume is perfect in an EXP or merit party and helps to maximize your MP for party use on top of adding extra power to MBs.
Taru

Sorry but I'll stick to Genie mitts. As a taru, with rostrum pumps, I have only 721hp anyway. With zenith...671hp? If I get the aq.hands, I'll get them for show perhaps, or soloing DC's to T's. But in EXP parties, the added 2 MAB isn't all that great, and Genie mitts add +6 Elemental which will make your Republic, Mold, Uggalepih Pend and Sorcerer's Ring stick. I also have Sorcerer's Toban which does more than enough damage. Countless times in manaburns, have been caught under 50hp...which would have resulted in death with these mitts.

All and all, for Humes, Elveen's especially Galka these things rock. For Taru's, stick with Genie.

MB's Birds in Luf Meados is 1708MB easy, sometimes 1865MB. For Rams, 1930MB easy, 2122MB with weather effects. Golems in Sky, 2215MB...all without these mitts.

you could always get these and then a few other pieces to convert hp<-->mp (ex. ether ring or astrals) and have that in a macro to start a fight. then have another to remove any of these items with those you normally wear. then you start the fight with the same hp you have typically and are already close to breaking the latent on these and you didnt have to do anything for it except hit 1 or 2 macros. i kinda do the same thind as rdm when i heal. i equip any gear that gives mp+ while healing and extra mp, i heal, then just as next mob is pulled i buff myself (refresh, stonesking, blink, whatever) and i can get most of those buffs up for free when you think about the mp i have under normal gear in comparison to my mp gear.

i am not like you (im elvaan not taru, and im rdm not blm) so i do want these for the extra nuking power and extra mp. its all about the gear when you are playing a race that isnt generally suited for that job.. (ex. elvaan mages or taru melee) i wont ever replace a blm fully since i dont get -ga's, tier 1 dont count, and i dont get tier IV nukes. with that in mind i try to get everything out of my tier III's that i can. rdm dont get discouraged on your damage and dont let ppl tell you we cant nuke. in an xp party when comparing a typically equipped hume blm (+1 stuff sometimes.. no +2 gear) with myself, elvaan rdm with carefully macroed gear, i can do almost the same damage as that blm IF we use the same spells. toss on another 5 to MAB and i may even have the edge. again, i know this is comparing a carefully-equipped elvaan to a standard-equipped hume, but i am also comparing a rdm's nuke power to a blm. the two balance out if you havent gotten where im coming from :p

all in all.. i say these would be wonderful for a rdm especially if you are out of charecter like i am. i will fully be able to benefit from the extra mp and MAB.
In case you're just too lazy to go look it up~

Well, if you're like me, you don't like having to go to several different pages and going to many different windows just to find something.

A small little guide to abj.
The abjurations are rare/ex items that are used to synth very good gear (aka: zenith, crimson, etc).

You can't synth the gear however, you have to take the cursed piece (aka: cursed mitts, cursed slacks, etc) and your abjuration to an NPC to get the cursed item purified. The NPC to purify the cursed gear is in Northern San D'Oria. The name is Alphollon C Meriard at (L-6) in the chapel. Trading the piece of cursed gear, plus abjuration will result in him synthing a new piece of wonderful gear for you! The cursed gear is often expensive, often ranging near or over a Million gil (on siren server at least). If you somehow find the materials, you can also have a Veteran level crafting friend synth the cursed item for you.

For instance:
I want Zenith Mitts.
I go to N. SanD'Oria to the NPC~
I bring 1 Aq. Abj. Hands + 1 Cursed Mitts
I trade both items to him
He synths them, gives me Zenith Mitts.
I do the happy taru dance and brag to all my ls-mates :D

Its very simplistic, but I'll add a list of the abj that goes with each gear at a later date~
Hope this helps, good luck to all ^^

I got the abduration for these today. all mages lotted (and there were only 2 of us so...)

Now I just need a few levels and to figure out how its used <.<;;
Very nice items overall
# Apr 01 2005 at 3:51 PM Rating: Decent

As a Red Mage I drool over these, MAB is great for anyone who nukes but and the MP/HP swap is great for reaching a 1 for 1 convert ratio with a Hume for less wasted HPs during convert...

But don't count on seeing them until every other Blm in your HNM has them first.
RE: Very nice items overall
# Jul 30 2005 at 10:49 PM Rating: Decent
Ticks me off when people say RDM can't nuke. Only RDM that don't have the equip or don't know how to macro their equipment correctly can't. These gloves are a nice addition that adds a good bit of dmg. 5% adds up when you add in HQ staves, AF2 boots, moldavite...etc...

Best RDM nukes...
1122 Thunder III MB on IT Aura Statue in sky.
928 unbursted Thunder III on goblin smithy in Sauromugue Champaign (ok yeah, it was a too weak mob, but hey. :P)

Never thought I'd get over 1000 on MB as RDM. I had to prove that wrong.

what are there, like 5 level 70+ BLM equipment sets?

Well each set does something different. Really if you want to be the best BLM, you will have a piece of each.
Sorcerer's Petasos
Igqira Weskit
Zenith Mitts
Mahatma Slops
Rostrum Pumps

Oddly when you see them all on a BLM, it kinda fits. Except for the mitts lol.

Zeith Equip is made by taking a peice of abjurstion that is only dropped by HNM like Fafnir , King Behemoth the 4 Gods and Kirin. Then you must buy or have someone craft a cursed peice of equipment. Which is different for every peice of abjuration and also can cost up to 3 million on my server. Then you take the abjuration and the cursed item to an NPC and he will make u you gloves. Good Luck

Anyway, at 73 when you can get these, a taru will die in one hit anyway. So...right.

no .... we (level 75 taru BLMs) dont die in one hit... Getting one shotted is in fact incredibly rare. it usually only happens when you take hate when the mob has TP and uses an unfortunate attack like Heavy Blow from a golem .... Heavy Blow would essentially one shot any BLM except maybe Galka. Ive taken hate from Faust and Ulli and survived... in fact ive taken a Melee hit from kirin (his follow up of great sandstorm finished me off). so yeah ... wrong wrong wrong wrong ... and i got my Z mitts today /happy

are you level 20? every gets HP... sure there are SOME spells/abilities the Taru would die to but in an Experience Party... your tank should stop losing hate so much man. (Oh I'm not Taru btw)
