I have a torrent crystal, that I've had since I started playing, but I have no idea how I got it. Valentine's day is in february, and I didn't even have the game then, and I've never given items to any guild. How did I get this thing?

Just wondering are water crystals used in anything OTHER than food synthesis? Cuz I don't wanna make an edible signed thing.

Ok... one of my mules, that has NEVER crafted anything, just received a Torrent Crystal from MHMU?? This mule does NOTHING but run gil and items back and forth to the AH and Deliveries NPC... that's all.

So, I ask you... why did I get this crystal in my box... and what is MHMU?? The Mog House Moogle Union?? lol

Weird.

EDIT: Ok... just went to the FFXI site. Turns out everyone is getting one of these to carve your name into a handcrafted item, so that you may give it to your special "Valentione". lol

And the MHMU stands for Mog House Management Union. haha... I was close.

Anyway.. disregard this waste of bandwidth. >8)

Ok, so I finally achieved Novice in cooking! I earned some guild points through turning in tortillas, and pick up a Torrent Crystal. Now I know what you're thinking "Who wants to sign a juice?" well... I wanted to sign something, so I try to synth a Pineapple Juice, and it synths, but the juice that was synthed wasn't signed. (Also, I'm a level above Pineapple juice and got a .1 skillup, is that normal with these?) Thanks a lot.

You can get this crystals from a NPC inside of the different Crafting Guilds. Once you have reached Novice the NPC will accept certain items at certain times. Those items that you trade will give you Guild Points, and those points you can trade for these crystals and other specific guild items like the aprons and crafting specticals.
