Black Belt  

The drop rate of items from KS99 seems to be around 10%. Hope info helps...

Iam reading through all these posts and seeing people whining about losing their brown belt.........are all of you &%#$ing retarded? It's honestly not a huge deal....go do the quest,get the brown belt,turn it in,and if your someone who deserves a black belt in the first place,or has the knowledge and skill and time-invested to be a part of an endgame shell with the capacity to either claim land kings,or run KSNM's or both...then hopefully youll know enough about the game to farm enough measely gil to buy another one for your capped missions(especially after the economy collapse). Capped missions are probably the LAST thing you should be worried about if your going to go after a thing such as this.

i even claimed aspid personally while the botting JP LS Wizardry stood there watching. chi blast ftw.

man i cant believe it, finally have this in my inventory. ive been mnk75 since... well for about 2.5 years now. got my tongue first from a friends ks99. then the beard a week later from nidhogg. and finally last night, it had been 12 months and about 2 weeks since i got the beard, we claimed aspi first window and i won lot between me and 1 other. i have to say this is my proudest moment in all of my ffxi career. to all of you who are low lv mnks actually gettin this belt makes all the effort you put into it worthwhile. i was 0/27 on NQ adamantoise, @#%^er would never drop for me. i did 3 ks99's the hills are alive. won first, no egg, made 1.5m, lost second, did it on watersday, BAD IDEA, won third got a stylet but no egg. and i cant say thank you enough to Solstice :D

this is the best gear in game .... and the fact that its for waist makes it even better. And we mnks have it for ourself..... +12% haste is insane nothing can beat this ^^

I've noticed that tons of people hate the fact that you have to trade in your Brown Belt to get this one. I'll admit, at first I did as well, but then I found a nice way to rationalize it.
What it literally is, is trading in one piece of equipment for a much, and I stress MUCH better version of it. It's like someone asking to trade their Scorp. Harness +1 for your Scorp Harness...except the difference between these two belts is much greater then a simple NQ-HQ comparison.
You'd have to quest the Brown Belt to get this belt anyway, so technically you're not losing any money at all, if that's your problem with this trade.

As far as the previous post goes, I have this to offer:
-My CoP static consists of DRG, MNK (me), WHM, PLD, SMN, and the 6th switches between their RDM and SMN depending on the mission. We're doing just fine, in fact we absolutely conquered Promy-Vazhl two days ago. MNK isn't a hinderance whatsoever, and I don't even have O. Kote or Jujitsu Gi to make up for whatever percieved shortcoming a MNK would bring in people's minds. In my CoP experience Hundred Fists was a fair deal of help, so I can say from personal experience that MNKs do NOT bring down a CoP group.
-As far as wanting to keep it for capped things, you're gonna have to make a desicion: 1.) keep it until the capped missions are over, then trade it for the Black Belt after; 2.) get the Black Belt a.s.a.p. considering you're gonna spend most of your time by the time you get one on non-capped stuff anyway; or of course there's 3.) not getting a Black Belt, keeping your Brown Belt, and selling it when you're done with it. Though keep in mind that following choice 3 just means that, at least in my opinion, you can never reach a MNK's absolute best potential.
-As for the new expansion, I read an interview and heard from a bunch of people that the new expansion will NOT include more missions like Zilart and CoP did. From what I understand it's gonna focus more on solo content.

Hope this helps anyone wondering these same things.

I'm really far from needing black belt. But the major problem I have with it is giving up brown belt. I know you have to do brown belt to start black, but Brown belt it lvl 40 a few things in CoP are cap above 40 and below 70. And I can here you say either get those done before black belt or MNK sucks in those things either way. But there's another expansion and if it has capped things in it where mnks are awesome in it I'm sure a few high lvl mnks would be kicking themselves for the upgrade. I think black belt should need to sacrofice brown

we have so many ppls on kujata with black belt`s now.

Am i the only one who is laughing that monks get this belt for no cost(aside from one of the hardest quests in the game) and it adds so much haste+. Speed Belt goes for 21mil on Kujata and i am always hearing from my ls how cool of an item it is because i have sam, drg, drk, and nin in my ls. Even brown belt has more haste+ than speedbelt and true its a long and annoying quest (fukn Morbolger) but its free, and it has +str too. So sorry to all the non monks out there who gotta camp KA or buy that overpriced piece of crap. All i can say is.....you shoulda been a monk.

I don't remember the name of the character off the top of my head, but I swear the other day I saw a Taru MNK75 (on Odin) with a Black Belt. It was awesome.

I bet the people at SE was thinking to make this belt for omega monks that have defeated the top HNMs in the game at that time. I find it pretty silly when monks sitting and waitting for spawn, while HNM botting LS win the pull, then sell the item. Where's the monk pride?

I'm currently 2/3 items on belt.. just need the egg, and I missed the spawn on aspid yesterday =/ sucks.

Wow before that i believed that asura suked but if glx isnt lying ( and i know this guy is nice so i dont think he does ) he would the 3rd MNK (i ve seen) with that piece of gold ^^ : papillon (jp if i remember) some MNK of machina ls and glx ^^

Seriously guys, what do you expect? This IS a black belt. In old Shaolin Monasteries, you had to endure a long test in which the monk would venture through the cave of trials solving ancient puzzles and at the end, the only way to leave the cavern and enter the dubbing room was to move a vat of boiling lead that has no handles. So, it's either grab it by the sides and forever destroy your hands, rendering them useless, or buck up, slap your wrists on the side and weild the vat. thankfully, there were two pegs for your wrists that have dragons on them. So, if you beat conquered the puzzles, and weild the vat of lead, You will gain access to the entrance of the Cristining chamber, be marked on your feet by the puzzles (I'll spare you the details) and have a dragon and a tiger burned into your wrists...sound familiar?

I would only expect such a quest for such a HAWT! item. Look at the seriously wicked things that it adds. The Haste +12% is stellar!

Does haste also increase Mouement Speed, just curious
