Level 30 Subjob Items

There are level 30 Earrings, Shields, Belts and Mantles that all trigger on Latent Effects. These all correspond with a job.
All of them activate via Subjob. Nothing else will trigger these to activate, NOT main job, ONLY subjob.
The newest jobs (Blu, Cor, Pup) do not have these items (as of 7/27/06).
Subjob: Bard - Singer's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Song Belt)
Subjob: Beastmaster - Trimmer's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Pick Belt)
Subjob: Black Mage - Wizard's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Staff Belt)
Subjob: Dark Knight - Killer (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Scythe Belt)
Subjob: Dragoon - Wyvern (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Lance Belt)
Subjob: Monk - Wrestler's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Cestus Belt)
Subjob: Ninja - Genin (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Sarashi)
Subjob: Paladin - Esquire's (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Shield Belt)
Subjob: Ranger - Beater's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Gun Belt)
Subjob: Red Mage - Warlock's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Rapier Belt)
Subjob: Samurai - Ashigaru (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Katana Obi)
Subjob: Summoner - Magician's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Avatar Belt)
Subjob: Thief - Pilferer's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Dagger Belt)
Subjob: Warrior - Mercenary's (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Axe Belt)
Subjob: White Mage - Healer's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Mace Belt)

There are other Latent effect items that trigger at different things such as Low HP, <100% tp, a bard song on you, This is NOT one of those items.
The only thing that activates these items is your subjob.

Lol so many noobs on this page. If you don't know the value of /bst, you probably never will because you'll probably never know the value of bst/???. You're most likely party-centric onry.

Some BST level their subjob using a /BST sub, ie a BST/WHM would level WHM as WHM/BST. This earring is very useful for those BST that do this, and the BST community is well aware of its existence and its usefulness :).

BST SJ for Latent
bst-sub works
# Mar 10 2005 at 1:18 AM Rating: Decent
BST can charm even monsters when it is sub'd.
The charmed beast acts as front tank, the MAIN job uses the accuracy (ranger, thief, ninja). Certainly you can get goblins to throw bombs at 'too far' bst this way.
The Main Use of This Ring

Most people are just looking at the fact that these earrings have "+5 Accuracy", which is great for wars, dark knights, drgs, etc. but who would ever sub BST?
I can conclude that the purpose of this earring is a sub for BRD.
The BRD/BST at higher lvls allow a BRD to solo mobs, with high charisma and the added accuracy can help since a BRD has no +acc attributes.
Anything else would just be to do for skill up and u want ACC+, but you should just sub thf if you want more dex or just buy an aiming braclet.

So what job is most solo-able other than BST.... I'd have to say RDM, en-spells give a magic added dmg to every attact and if you can't hit its worthless.
So trimmer earring could help greatly, o-yeah and you get to have a pet... ;)

DRG/WHM 60+ can situationally solo better than RDM of the same level. They have to avoid mobs that have AoEs and silence though.

I have an rdm 66 and a friend that's a drg 67. He gets the equivalent of Cure3 for 8mp and can solo Ts for chain1. Just has to bring juice.

Uh... Really easy to prove these. Process of elimination. There's 1 earring per job. there's no way to check this to see if when you equip it the "Accuracy" goes up 5... so after testing the rest of them, this was the only one left.

Not only that, but all the web sites JP and En say it is /bst as the activator.

I agree that the rest of the evidence is sufficient, but there is a way to prove it.

A proof would be to find a mob that /checks high evasion, equip this earring, and see that it no longer checks high evasion (assuming 5 acc is enough to overcome and bst is subbed). The same concept is used to prove that BIO overwrites DIA.

The proof is the other subjob activated items, example genin earring, go rng/sub war with it on, look at stats, no +agi, then do nin sub +4agi.
all the subjob activated go:
Asigaru=sam Genin=nin Beater=rng Esquire=pld
Singer=brd Pilferer=thf Mercenary=war
Warlock=rdm Healer=whm Wizard=blm Magician=smn
Wrestler=mnk Wyvern=drg Killer=drk Trimmer=bst.

There are earring, shields, and mantles named like this, all activate by the above subjobs. If you want to test it yourself, buy any of them that add actual stats, +4 agi on genin earring for example, and use the subjob i listed, you'll see the stat+ in equip screen, and try a diff sub, the bonus isnt there. Hope this helps ya'll ^^

With Drg/War?
# Oct 29 2004 at 10:57 PM Rating: Default
I have a Drg/War now. I have one of these things on my guy at level 30, and almost all the even match and tough mobs I see in Yuhtunha Jungle will say "low evasion." Are we sure that in recent updates it is only BST that gives latent effects? My dex is pretty high, at 36 or so with items. I have power gloves too, but the trimmer ring may be more powerfull then we think?

I got 2 from BCNM30 - Creeping Doom

On Seraph I listed tem on the Jueno AH at 29011, the going rate at the time was 30. A month later and at least 5K in Jueno listing fees I listed them for the last time for 19001, going rate was 20K. They sold without having to list again but it was still extremely slow.

ATM they are holding at 20K but it this trend keeps up, and as the word about /BST gets out, it undoubtedly will drop some more. WhoTF subs BST anyways. I have yet to see it.

whm/bst is only a little worse off than bst/whm (well.. a little if you dont factor in the JA's and bst only stuff you dont get)

some people level their whm sub for bst this way (people pick bst for a reason)

i've never done it.. partying with whm is not that big of a deal to me.

edit: these are going for 5-6k on phoenix so i guess not too many people use them ^^

I heard that these level 30 Earrings can be activated when the job that the earring represents (example: Trimmer's represent BST) is level 30. So I could use this as a BST30/??? or as a ???60/[Black][/Black]BST30. Can anyone clarify this?

Question...
# Jul 10 2004 at 8:00 AM Rating: Decent
So you gain latent effects by using the required subjob? Would I gaint this effect by having BST as main? (If it now gives effect by having it as subjob) ty

It doesn't say anywhere on there about having a BST sub, tell me where it says that.
Argh!

Not only is this earring's effect awesome, it's the hardest to use.

I wish this required something easy, like a WAR sub. That would be too easy though. >.<
