Those wyvern earrings would be good for a dnc/dragoon, with jumps and two hast+ earrings that knife could actually rack you up some tp.

Level 30 Subjob Items

There are level 30 Earrings, Shields, Belts and Mantles that all trigger on Latent Effects. These all correspond with a job.
All of them activate via Subjob. Nothing else will trigger these to activate, NOT main job, ONLY subjob.
The newest jobs (Blu, Cor, Pup) do not have these items (as of 7/27/06).

There are other Latent effect items that trigger at different things such as Low HP, <100% tp, a bard song on you, This is NOT one of those items.
The only thing that activates these items is your subjob.

i've seen quite a few nin/war and war/nins wearing this stuff as well, kind of pathetic considering the ah price of all this stuff is 400-700k each on my server, considering there are quite a few of us who could get good use out of these but i cant spend that much on gear just for 30-40 cap stuff. never once have i seen any of the three on a /drg.

I was just gonna say that LOL, same on Gilgamesh, and other than the "4" People i have seen in ballista subbing /DRG (a MNK, Me as MNK, a WAR, and a SAM.

lol i bought this item for 10k, when it was rare back then, but now its at " 2,000,000 gil" yes, 2 million....how? i dont know...i guess people get dumber as the game progresses..

And you call me gimp, wtf? lmao!

    Yea, or people knowing the latent just wanted more $ and put it up hoping some gil buying noob that just started nin would be all over it for the low low price of 2m. lol Really tho its nice for Balli if you are a WAR, MNK, or SAM that likes the +attack and haste from the uber DRG latent items :P

    ive talked to at least 30 drgs on asura about this...they ALL(except for about 3) say that DRG main can get the latent affect...its just a matter of asking...although i doubt thats a word in the final fantasy nerd dictionary

    its a common noob mistake to think that lvl 30 Latent Effect earings/belts/shields/capes AREN'T subjob based. I have a Merc.Earing and a Pilferer's Earing, the Merc.Earing works when I sub War, Pilferer's when I sub Thf (you can easily see the +2 vit or +2 dex in you stats).

    This earring is activated by subjob only. Just like the shields @30, and the mantles @30. they are all sub activated. If you don't believe, ask a rng/nin with Genin Earring. +4 AGI. That actually shows. Beign a ballista whore. I go Thf/drg for 30cap. SATA Jump. So i bought Wyvern Earring. Wyvern Shield. and Wyvern Mantle. All being decent stuff, but the mantle is up for sale cause i'd rather use my nomad mantle. so yeah.

    30 earring, mantle, and shields are sub activated!

  • 16% Haste...(With the proper Haste Items.), Could you imagine throwing a haste on this guy!? And Imagine also this guy with a 0 DLY weapon, [Speed] [you can have it]. Or you could go High DLY weapon, witch increases you DoT even more.....Hitting faster with a Big DLY weapon is a MAJOR damage Inprovement....same goes with hitting faster with a low dly weapon. Big DoT do you want it? Try using MNK with a Staff and this much Helping +Haste....big numbers, fast.


    Attack Trait +10: Extra Power to add to my fist.


    Wyvern Mantle: Recovers the 3 attack you lost from replacing your Bettle Earring for the Haste earring and you still gain +3 Attack...Think of this as an Early "Jaeger mantle".


    Jump Attack: It can be "Boosted" for damage. Damage is based on Main weapon. Meaning that this MNK is better off using a "Staff" to maximize his "Jump" Damage.....its too bad that Staff WS suck and Raging Fist owns all. But a well boosted jump Pre-battle can do damn sick damage(tested). Its too bad once you hit Lv.41 you will only Boost for "Chi Blast"....unless Chi Blast Isnt up. Also to mention that Jump = Damage and gives a nice TP return.

    Wyvern Mantle: Awesome

    Lance Belt: Great thing, for SAM's who raised/Use their Spears as an alternative weapon. Gives + 5 Pole Arm Skill, That means that there will be a pretty decent Increase of power and Acc. to your Spear wielded. Its also posible to get "Penta Thrust" with this equiped(thats if you are crazy enough to use this Subjob Past 50....you cant forget about /WAR).

    Jump Attack: Jump Damage is based on Main weapon's Damage....SAM's Great Katana's Damage is pretty high, so that Jump damage should be pretty sick automaticly. Oh forgot to add that Jump = Damage AND TP. More power to SAM.


    About Haste: AT lv.40 with the proper gear = +8% Haste, Hasted G.katana? Hell yeah! Thats like 2.7 extra attacks out of 25...not too bad. If you have the G's to spend you can go and buy a Quick Belt and bring this Haste equation to +10% Haste, thats 3.3 Extra atacks in 25 attacks. /smile. If you are insane Enough to actually test this Past Lv.50 SAM/DRG, and you are rich, you could get a Speed belt and be at +14% Haste.... very damn nice. Almost 5 extra attacks per 25. But i'm sure that Double Attack will rape that anyday, But we are talking about Guarranteed( Provided that you dont miss and the battle last enough).

    This subjob is designed for levels: 20-30 and With Proper gear: 40-50.

    Bottom Line: Very potential subjob as you can see. Offers extra ATK to help your STR, Haste for extra hits, and Jump for Extra damage + TP. Try this out someday when you are either leveling MNK or SAM. Or if you are too high yo try this, Try it when you do a Level Capped Event (BCNM, Eco War, BALLISTA****, Garrison). You will see that its pretty damn good.

    i got to say, i am glad to see someone knows how to work a SJ. i use DRG as a sub in ballista lvl 30 cap. it gives me more then any other SJ out there, the attack boost as well as the jump attack giving me TP as well. at lvl 30 as a SAM/DRG i can self SC and i got to say that it fun ^^
    i also tried NIN/DRG using this earring, it cut 2 sec off utsusemi recast ^^
    so if you see a SAM/DRG in your lvl 30 ballista going after yout tarutaru mages.... you better be able to kill him in 1 sec or get bind off before he gets there, because all it takes is one Tachi: Enpi a hit and a jump to kill one (jump as SAM/DRG in ballista was doing up to 110 dmg on a taru mage)

    Like last week i seen a video of a SAM/Drg doing self Renkei Lv.3 light by him self....No 2 HR...

    Just 100 TP, Meditate, Jump, High Jump, Attack...and does 3 weapons skills for light

    MNKs would have a definate use for /drg, the hate shedding ability of jump might help w/ the hate control issues ive heard that some MNKs have.

    For those wondering "Who would ever sub DRG and use this?", the answer is RDMs who are trying to solo various things (mission 11 with the archlich is a common one). The haste is a big plus, and they need some added melee power. So if you see a RDM/DRG, he's probably off to do something crazy^^

    Is it possible to equip 2 of these or no because it is RARE?
    Just imagine THF/DRG lvl 10 DRG gives attack bonus always good for any melee. And Jump an extra hit always fun. But most noteably the passive accuracy @ 30. With these earings to increase speed 10% with 2. I'd lvl and sub DRG anyday if it were so.

    Oop basically double post thought I lost 1st post on a page load. Well hopefully 1 of they sayings makes ya happy.

    Just 1 quick question:
    This being rare you can only buy and equip 1 only correct? Because if I could equip two as a THF
    10% more haste is way better than the agi I get from earrings,SJ abilities aren't that bad from DRG either though increased dmg and accuracy from 30 sub @ 60 THF, less $$ on ACC gear and more ATT/STR would make a THF pretty powerful. Wonder how other jobs would take this.

    NIN, the best sub for THF cauz:
    Genin Earring : AGI+4 = TA dmg
    Utsusemi : Solo and try to pull tiger/raptor without <.<
    Dual Wield: cuts down weapon delay and as that is like perma-haste, allows u to wield a sucky weapon just for it's bonus (Greeed Scimitar as example, u wanna see a THF60/DRG(WAR) wielding that as WS weapon ? )

    EDIT: and no, 10% haste would not be better then your AGI earrings...haste doesnt affect ability timer (SA/TA), but u will see a difference in your sata dmg with and without the 6-7AGI from the earrings

    have you ever forgot to hit your equip macro for SATA as THF changing from ACC gear - DEX gear? i have and so has many others. me and some other elvaan THF friends i have all say that the +9 to DEX and AGI the we forgot to equip made no difference on SATA DMG VS IT mobs. ALSO! the + to DEX and AGI from squid sushi makes no difference as well ... unless you don't eat any food, but from what i have tested in real exp PTs is that for some reason the small amounts in + to agi is worthlss as to + attack had added more to DMG.

    DRG main will NOT activate the effect. I've tried this with the other Latent Effect earrings with noticeable stats. You'll only get the effect with DRG sub.

    I would defiantly have to agree with kyleP on this one. I am not one to argue at all but since I have played allot of the other characters and jobs I do find that Dragoon is my favorite. I will say that is a job that was never meant to be subbed and the jobs for Drk to Sub are War / Sam. According to other players I have talk to the Drk threads and Strategy Guides. The whole point of the Drg is the Wyvern and without your buddy by your side you are a Mocked up Warrior with your Abilities as in Jump and such.

    I do not believe in bashing so I must say NotBrandon you may want to look into Subbing other Jobs but if that is what you like go for it, I partied with a character at the Citadel the other night and he had it subbed and I complimented him on it being the first time I have seen but I would never do it. He replied with thank you for noticing and he understands due to how the loyal Drg community is. The question I have though is having a + on Haste would mostly go for you Mnk classes or no, and by looking at some of the earrings myself I use Beetle +1 for extra attack, does anyone see this as being something to change for extra haste as in these earrings or stay with what I have, would the Haste work and help out the Drg, and last how much do these cost if I wanted to pick these up?     lol. i have found that people don't like change.
    play DRK/SAM 60+ and use your hate tools (last resort, souleater and with sam sub meditate) then i laugh at you when you die! or your healer has to dump alot of MP into you! oh now you say "thats why you don't use all of that" heh then whats the use of being a DD that can't do DMG because he has to refrain from doing real DMG?
    from lvl 20 - 30 as SAM there is no better SJ then DRG... i know this for a fact. i played SAM/WAR after lvl 30 and it sucked. i have killed everyone i fought in ballista as a SAM/DRG.. all i got to say is know when to sub what job. for DRKs 60+ they sub THF to keep hate off of them as well as SAMs. at this time i am testing whats the biggest killer combo in the lvl 30 caps since thats the only one you can really mix it up in. so don't be affraid to test new things! ^^

    You, sir, have disgraced the name of all dragoons by doing such a thing. Why is it worth giving up berserk, and later, double attack, just to have a few jump attacks? I am a dragoon, but I will also be the first to say that dragoon is NOT meant to be subbed, it completely cripples the class.

    The only reason I would ALMOST consider doing /DRG is for leveling up something like samurai, but it would have to be past level 60 for the ACC bonus at /30DRG. And still, warrior would be better.

    Actually, DRK creates a lot of hate with Souleater. At 70+ High Jump would be beneficial to use with Souleater so that they can lose some of that hate. Plus the Accuracy bonus they'd have at 60+. I think until 60+ it would be kind of silly to sub DRG for DRK but eventually it could be viable. The biggest argument then is that /SAM gives meditate, but that's for a different thread! Good luck though!

    Well, I am a avid DRG and I have to say Kudos to anyone with the large pair that is willing to sub it. I have subbed in many times and been ridiculed, hounded even to use any other sub, but I enjoy it quite a lot. War/drg is cool, I seen a few DRK/DRG out there, and ive seen more than a few mnk/drg. Having +10 haste outta 2 earings beats the hell outta +6 ATT from beetles +1. making it so a mnk gets a att boost, and makes them swing their fists faster, is well worth it. Heck, I think I just changed job classes to MNK/DRG!

    and now i wanna see you equip a RARE earring twice at the same time....and war sub adds double attack / def+att bonus/ berserk / defender / warcry.....at lvl60+ THF sub adds sata.....and the crappy drg adds acc+att+jump ? (ever seen any good MNK carrying the usual crap load of ACC gear ? )

    As for thf/drg....THF/NIN has dual wield which can be considered a PERMA HASTE, besides nin sub lets you use the Genin Earring (AGI+4) for your TA....i really doubt somecrappy 5% haste and jump can really compete against that (not to mention utsusemi for pulling mobs like tiger/raptor/coeurl). Similar things (utsu+perma haste) for WAR etc., also mind that dual wield will net u full TP gain from the 1st 2hit of multihit ws.....

    about the only exception for that would be NIN/DRG for the utsusemi recast timer..(RDM has haste and fast cast...and sub nin = utsusemi is better then the meager bonus of subbing drg...)..and that mainly for soloing something, that eats shadows like a galka taru...

    Well,if it's true that this works with Drag subbed,it makes it completely useless.Subbing Drag is like subbing Warrior for a White Mage,you just don't do it.Completely worthless item.

    Hey man, I spent 31 lvs as a whm/war before switching to a drk/war. I never had any problems with mp, and i could contribute to melee better than most melee jobs (with a hammer anyway). As long as I had a good tank then there are no problems (but then again, I always have good tanks, inferior players get the boot from my parties.)

    TY Pevie, thats exactly my point. I'm not a fan of cookie cutter characters.

    all i got to say to this is i started out as whm/mnk and never had probs no matter how much peeps bitched initially about it it all comes down to how good the mage is at managin their mp and knowing when to rest and all. not mention made it so others didnt panic and neither did i when got the hate .

    Wrong in a sense smn's can melee im a smn (43) Granted our over all melee damge isnt great but why do we want it for?! WE DONT we just want the weapons skills to chain off of our avatars.. lets say lvl 26smn with a 13/blm ifrits punch - heavy swing = fusion - fire = mb rough 50 dmg along with the 30 we get from fusion the 40 we got from HW and the 180+ with punch.. at lvl 26 solo doing 300 dmg not on firesday to increase ifrits attack no attack food weapon skill not capped and a crappy staff is alot better then what other jobs can do for DD its fun to watch a pts jaw drop when you get bored go into "attack" mode walk up to the mob pop a icarus wing and unlease a 200 dmg skillchain on a it mob alone and it just adds when the rdm or blm's catch on and decide to burst after the smn / avatar skill chain then a normal weapon skill chain. Granted in higher lvls it wont, work youll pull quite a bit of hate off of lvl 2-3 skill chains on your own (min of 600dmg). But still fun either way :)

    actaully it wouldn't. 1BLM would contribute next to no MP, and no other stats at all. The points he made about melee are valid, as long as he isn't getting hit by AoE. Personally I'd much rather have a WHM/SMN as main healer, but if he could keep up with healing, and the party could still chain, that's all that matters.

    and no, Sir.....there is melee and mage classes, melee in front to beat the sh*t outta the mobs, and mages in 2nd row. BLM sub adds MP+STATS+ABILITIES+spells. I sure as hell wanna see my WHM use berserk ... ... -_- (saw my RDM use soul eater just to miss even more on raptors)...mages should be busy casting spells (healing/debuff/attack) according to their class, when finished with that they should take a med to regain as much mp as possible...not try to give the mob some extra TP with swings that only they would call great...

    SackofRice. You're wrong, latent effect means Hidden (more like special-requirement) effect or Special circumstances that must be met to obtain the effect. It can either be low hp or a subjob as these new items. So enough with the confusion :o.

    This Latent effect earring is one of the new set of Subjob dependant effect earrings. Their latent effects are activated on certain subjobs.

    I don't have much info, but I'd assume by the name it takes a Dragoon sub to activate this one.

    Latent effect:

    1. HP must be in Yellow or less (i think 75% or less)

    2. TP must be less than 100%

    If both conditions are met, Latent effect kicks in.
