The Password Revealed

I'm making this post on all the colored chip forums that work with the strange apparati.

The Password is based off the first 3 characters of your name and the zone's number.

The first thing you want to do is decided which zone, the zones value is the starting value of the alphabet's number values. So, if you go to Wadi A = 00, but the Maze A = 07.

Now, once you have that get the first 3 letters of your name, and find the numeric value of them. Let's use ABE as an example. For Wadi, A = 00, B = 01, and E = 04. But, for the Maze, A = 07, B = 08 and E = 11. These are the first 6 numbers of the password.

To get the last 2 you need to take the value of your letters, and add them, i.e. ABE @ Wadi = 00+01+04 = 05, and ABE @ Maze = 07+08+11 = 26.

So, for the Password of ABE in Wadi you need 00010405. While ABE at Maze is 07081126.

I hope this makes sense to most of you. And here is the listing of the zone values.

Dangruf Wadi=00
Gusgen Mines=01
Crawler's Nest=02
Ordelle's Caves=03
Eldieme Necropolis=04
Outer Horutoto Ruins=05
Garlaige Citadel=06
Maze of Shakhrami=07

This does work.

You can also get these from aa hard to find gblin named Blabbivix in Port Bastok. He's in F-6, lower level, between the wall and Warehouse 2.
I have no clue what they are for, but they gotta be there for a reason. Might it have something to do with th NPC goblins in dungeons such as Davoi or Beadeaux??

after reading that post on the ign boards, it seems to have to do with the city that was explained in the chains of promethea expansion, where they said something about a city of goblins underground or something.

read the thing when going to play FFXI next time

it does sound like they may go with that city. I also noted that it's woman's voice speaking, and in this issue of Little Goblin's Adventures (or the wonderful world of the tonberrys, haha) there was a female goblin named Moblina (though she doesn't look like a girl!)... Maybe has something to do with her?
Chips
# Apr 27 2004 at 8:21 AM Rating: Decent
The chips are for the Strange Apparatus in the Crawlers nest, go into the secret room and it will tell you that you need an infinity core and a compatible chip. It seems to have something to do with merging 2 items together to get a better one.

There are several strange apparati spread among dungeons in Vana'diel ... Crawlers' Nest is just one of them:

Ordelle's Caves
Maze of Shakhrami
Gusgen Mines - Earth
Dangruf Wadi - Fire
Outer Horutoto Ruins - Lighting
Crawler's Nest - Water
Garlaige Citadel
Eldieme Necropolis
Raungmont Pass
Fei'Yin

... each dungeon seems to have a certain element associated with it that matches the color of the chip that you will use with the apparatus in that dungeon (you are given a clue as to the element when examining the Strange Apparatus for the first time).

Trading an Infinity Core and a chip to the apparati have yielded varying results ... there seems to be a great degree of randomness.

I have posted more information about my experiments and what I have found out at this thread at FFVault.

It's an elemental fight. When the corresponding chip and Core is traded to the right element of the apparatus, an Elemental appears gauging "Impossible to gause" appears, to which the drops are either clusters or level 70 gear.

all you have to do is get the same color chip as the crystal on the top of the machine and an infinity core.

trade them both to the apparatus and you get a random item.either very valuable or just crap like a cluster.

and the elemental pops when you use the WRONG chip
Uses?

I see these and all the other chips for sale from a goblin in North San d'Oria, near the woodworking guild. They're about 21k a piece. Sounds like one rich little goblin. Anyone have a clue what these are for?

Rumor has it it's something to do with upgrading Dynamis Relic weapons... either raising their powers (to unlock the new WS's like Knights of the Round) or making them usable outside Dynamis, or both. Haven't heard any solid info yet.
