Because it adds Erase effect. Paralysis and Poison would not normally be cured by erase... af1 acts like -na spells.
I think af2 body + af2 boots may be the trick to removing either or.

Just a note from my Hakutaku farming.
Wearing the Beast Jackcoat, I am able to cure paralysis effect that my pet has when I use the Reward ability.
Wearing the Monster Jackcoat, I cannot cure paralysis effect that my pet has when I use the Reward ability.
I will test to see if this gets transferred to the Monster Gaiters, since they also have a Reward Ability enhancement.
If not, then yet again I am disappointed from the awe of AF2.
