Also like 2 add haven def also reduce's ur hate losse Not directly but getting hit=hate loss getting hit for 3dmg=less hate losse than getting hit for 100dmg. "So if PLD get hit for 20 damage like 10 damage when DEF is up, is 10 damage like 20 damage when PLD have VIT off koenig body? Or is 30 damage like 10 damage when PLD get hit?"
Seriously, you're an Idiot. Please GTFO and never play PLD. The only body piece better than Valor Surcoat is most likely Hydra Haubert. Koenig body is nothing but a "Once in awhile" Situation piece which is medicore at best. Ares is decent but Valor is still much better. Also Valhalla Breastplate would be up there but with the slow effect it is bad for /NIN tanking. Also your spelling is horrible, only showing you are indeed A moron. You are most likely one of those Adaman wearing moron PLD's who think's they know sh*t about sh*t they don't know about, and can't put together one complete sentence. So once again PLEASE GTFO.
To anyone looking at this beautiful body piece. Untill you get Hydra Haubert this is the best "All around" body piece you can get, with Ares falling in 2nd then Valhalla then way down the line Koenig body.

When used properly, the Cover effect makes a big difference in many end-game scenarios. Extra HP, DEF and enmity is more important to a PLD than 4 VIT. If you manage to get the the AF2 body, you can permanently stow away your Gallant Surcoat.
JP have been running around with these for years in huge numbers. Sometimes I wonder how they get so many. Thus far I have seen 4 NA on our server with one (maybe we're just really really unlucky).
If you are at the stage where you can do dynamis and wear the artifacts there, you should know that VIT isn't as important endgame. The enmity, HP, and solid DEF more than outshines the 4 measly VIT on the Gallant.

+Vit is good, but IMO, this has *most other armor sets beat for most purposes ( and don't include Koenig when I when I say *most)
Why? Well here's what you get....
Valor Surcoat: +4 Emnity, +3 Dex +23 Hp, Enhances Cover Valor Corronet +3 Emnity, +10 Healing Magic, +18 Hp,Enhances Rampart Valor Leggins +1 Emnity, +3 Mind, +18 Hp, Enhances Sentinel Valor Breeches +3 Eminty, +5 Str, +18 Hp,10% Magic Interruption Down Valor Gauntlets +3 Emnity, +5 Vit, +18 Hp,Enhances Shield Bash
That's +16 Emnity, +5 Vit, +5 Str, +3 Dex, +3 Mind, +55 Hp, and a hell of a lot of ehnancements, which may make or break a tank.
No, not +Vit Heavy, but I just unequipped Body, Hands, Legs, Feet, and Head, and have +21 Vit. +Vit isn't hard to come by as a Pld. Equipment that gives both Emnity and makes you well rounded is hard to come by.
As a paladin you whould want to wear your Vit+ gear over anything else first. This set if desinged to keep a well rounded paladin with Enmity bonus. If your in a party where your not losing hate with the gear you have then stick with it, but if you losing hate from a nuke happy blk or ws hungry mnk, then changing to some of your afv2 gear is a good option to help keep your hate.
Very happy to be doing dynamis runs for a half year now, and to finally get this drop. I'm now 4/5 with Valor, only missing the legs from the Glaciar. The Paladin NM in dynamis has droped only 2 Valor Surcoats in the over 20 runs I think we had. I never seen a regular mob drop this. This is a very rare drop, very rare. To actully see it drop is worth the SS. Yes, I think this gear is great. It's not Koenig or kaiser, but this is a good hate piece for the party setup.
Some notes to take, the Defense:51 is actully a in game typo, this actully gives +55 defense when worn. Aslo the MP restore works when you Cover somobody who has hate. It will restore 25% mp to the total of damage taken doing cover. (Example whould be if I take 100 points in damage, I regain 25 MP.) Just for kicks I covered a ninja who was tanking whitemage af3 nm, I seen my MP jump from 209 to 240 and that is a nice bonus in my book.
"Edit: In a future dynamis run I used "Cover" on our other paladin who was getting hit from a mobs 100 fists, my MP shot to full from the "Cover". Man thats just sweet lol."
Apperently, only three people have these on Bahamut.... and two of these people both are in the same LS <TheOrderOfTheBlueGatr> and they got them both on the same night doing a Dynamis run.. both in a matter if half an hour, pretty lucky..

Would be easier to call it a AFII and leave the quest afs with regular #'s. it doesent matter really people still get the point because there is a huge frikin gap between valor and gallant.

My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them.
Either they did something to the drop rate or Midgarsormr has gotten very lucky recently, we have gone from having 0 on the server to 5 dropping in the last 2 months, I got our LS' second last night O_o I think maybe Midgardsormr has gotten lucky, since some servers still do not have even 1?
No, any of the "normal" Kindred Demons in Dynamis Xarcbard can drop it, and the Paladin type Demon NM Marquis Sabnak will only drop this, no other type of AF2. It is rare as stink though. There is only one on Midgardsormr, belonging to Nohl, a JP.
Dynamis Lord is supposed to drop shadow mantle and shadow ring occasionally, and supposedly he sometimes drops a 100 piece of currency or a 10,000 piece of currency.

Posted:Feb 22 2005 at 8:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its RELIC armor guys... not AF2... if I was to say AF2 in say Jeuno... Someone would help me out on my... what AF gloves...
... Actually it is AF2 not relic! There is no such thing as relic armor. Just relic weapons. AF2 is the second set of Artifact armor, AF-2 (note the DASH) is Paladin's boots (not gloves). So please, YOU get it right first. *sigh*
I call Valor and other sets AF2, AF1 boots I call AF boots or gallant boots, abjuration gear I just call either koenig *slot* (i.e. koenig head 0/10 seiryu WTF), or m *slot* (i.e. m head)
God gear usually refers to things like haidate or osode because not all abj's drop off gods.
I find this easiest and people should be able to understand wtf you're talking about..
People need to quit putting labels on everything, it actually makes you look like a noob lol...
I have Valor Hands, 0/2 for surcoat in xarcabard :( We did get to DL with 38 people though... not bad :D
LMAO! my god only xModeratorx got it right. the previous posts are very much off. thank xModeratorx for clearing it up for you guys. AF2 is what ppl call it, but Relic is the correct named for it.
Different servers/LS/nationalities have different conventions for naming, and none of this stuff except AF1 is specifically given category names in the game. Cursed/Abjuration gear is sometimes called "god" gear, especially in Japan, because it all drops from god HNMs, be it sky gods or land gods. Relic is only used by most people when talking about Dynamis weapons, not AF2. Little point insisting it is called something since there is no "official" category name.
The way the enhanced cover on this works is when the PLD's getting hit while covering they still take damage but it converts the damage into some MP.
One of the PLD's in my LS got this and when we did sewer syrup last night he covered a BLM and each time he was hit he received 20 mp while covering, with gallant coronet and valor surcoat on.
Enhances "Cover" effect allegedly makes the PLD invincibled to all covered damage, it will hit for 0, it is not the same as "Cover+1" on Save the Queen which makes cover last longer. Just like the third eye enhancing AF2 for SAM makes third eye do counterstance, it does not make it last longer.
That in itself causes a problem, say you use it to cover a BLM who has pulled hate off a big burst, you count as taking 0 damage on behalf of the BLM, the BLM looses no hate from damage inflicted by the mob, they are dependent on you to do some ability or something to get hate back before your cover wears off.
Also, this dissapointing piece stat wise, the AF1 body is better for almost every situation with VIT+4 and HP+20. Basically it would be cool to use it in combination with STQ in an exp party, but not many over situations =T This piece still looks wonderful though, any PLD would give their back teeth for one :)
ok for the site that was mentioned they are in the order they are in the strat guide if tht helps. except the last ones are a bit out of order i think. the orange 1 at the end is not mnk it is nin mnk is the 2nd 1. and instead of plds lining on their af being red it is black
Dynamis Drop. Valor Surcoat drops in Dynamis Xarcabard.
Drops in dynamis are based on which dynamis. EG blm gloves, drk gloves, etc etc all drop in dynamis windurst.
Catch is, relic drops are very very rare. As for this one, the body for pld, it drops in Dynamis Xarcabard.
Dynamis Xarcabard is infinitely tougher than any dynamis before it, every pull of a statue can bring 4 eyes, which pop 2-3 demons each. Every demon is much harder than IT to 75 mob. NM type demons take multiple alliances to kill. And usually there is much re-raising to be done after wipeouts (which are common).
Normal Dynamis have been known to wipe out NA LS of 50-60+ people. However this is the learning curve, since you need skilled pullers (usually bst) to kite the mobs that pop after you pull a statue. And then there's the repop mobs that will materialize later, as well as an influx of repops after the main boss for the area is killed.
i'm just rushing and breaking down bits of info, but like someone else said before, when you're high enough and have an Ls to do dynamis with, then you'll understand.
Nope. Summoner AF2 would have a horn; the summoner AF is the one just above the all brown. The last two are new. The second to last is possibly time mage (if it were to be blue mage, the armor would likely be blue), but that last one...I have no clue.
The second to last one is SMN gear...the Austere set. It's a step above the SMN AF, but a step below AF2. I see a ton of people on Leviathan with that stuff, either equiped or for sell. But that last set of armor...could that have been GM gear? Or...a new job?
How do you get the relic armor? It makes sense that you'd have to accept a quest for it...but one guy that posted here says it's a drop. ok 1)HAVING THIS AS A DROP SEEMS DOWNRIGHT TOO EASY! 2)Not that if it was too easy i'd be mad 3)If it only a drop from a NM that you killafter accepting a quest where do you accept the quests? 4)If #3 is correct where do you accept the quests for the other relic armor?
Thankyou in advance if you read this and respond.

3) whas that the right way to spell "gist"?
4)I wanna get all the relic(2nd af set) armor 4 paladin uncluding excalibur, relic swd dropps in Windy dynamis, but u gotta go to bastok dynamis at some point to upgrade it (I think, agian info is sketchy) ans i think some pal relic armor drops in Bastok dynamis.....SOMONE CLEAR THIS UP FOR ME!!!!!

This is a drop, and yeah, sure it seems easy. Wait til your first SMN Astral Flow that kills 64 members of a dynamis, then you can say its easy. Not only that but AF2 drops are random. So if your AF and 13 other jobs' AF drops in there and 1 AF piece drops there's a 1/13 chance it'll be the one you want. THEN, you have to concider how many other jobs are there that want the same item as you. PLDs, RDMs, and BLMs are always needed in Dynamis no matter what. Figure AT LEAST 6 PLDs in a dynamis, 5 of which will lot against you. So tell me then, is it easy to obtain this?
I have done over 20 dynamises now, and I was lucky enough to win a lot on a Valor Coronet. That is the first Valor Coronet i have ever seen drop out of 5 times in Dynamis Bastok. I have yet to see the Valor Leggings (boots) drop from Windy, and I have seen 2 Valor Gauntlets Drop, of which I won neither. I haven't made it to Beaucedine yet, but I would imagine that it is incredibly difficult there, as we haven't even been able to defeat Windy yet. (Dynamis Windy is the hardest of the 4 you must beat to go to Beaucedine. You must then beat Beaucedine to go to Xarcbard. One thing many of you may not know, is that Dynamis is the pinnacle of the storyline of the game. Dynamis is all about the return of the shadowlord. After beating Dynamis Xarcbard, you will get a very long, explanitory cutscene tying all of the storyline, missions, Zilart, all are wrapped up and revealed there. (This was told to me by my PLD friend who tagged along with a JP Dynamis LS on shiva. He said they have done Xarcbard so many times, they made it look easy. He also said that all 64 people died 2 times, everyone recovered and in less than 10 minutes they were fighting again.)
Anyway, Valor gear is in no way, shape or form, easy. If you see any PLD with any AF2 you should know, they know their stuff, /salute. You see a PLD in FULL AF2... well... that just deserves a /kneel.
Note: Valor armor is not the best for tanking HNMs, etc. It id designeed to make a well rounded PLD. Valor gear would be the best EXP gear ever... sadly there is no EXP after 75.
But IN MY OPINION, it is far more challenging to get full AF2, than it ever would be to get full koenig. HMNs are easy compared to dynamis... a good steady Dynamis team would OWN any HNM (and I dont mean 64 people--most dyanmis teams have about 18-30 who are the team, and they pick up the other players here and there.) But dynamis takes alot more teamwork and strategy than an HNM ever would. On the flipside, I've seen HNMlses get DESTROYED at dynamis.
So this is a description of what you need to do to obtain AF2... hope it was everything you expected, and I hope I did it some justice. And I apologize for those who were too rude to explain something to someone seeking knowledge, and instead flamed them for asking relavant questions to a topic. Good luck to all of you who seek the challenge of obtaining this gear.
I now have all 3 city AF2 Drops: Valor Leggings (Windurst), Valor Gauntlets (San d'Oria), and Valor Coronet (Bastok), I also picked up a RNG AF2 Cap from Jeuno, because no one needed it. So I'm leveling RNG to 75 now <.<;
I also Have completed the first 3 stages of the Relic Sword, so now, I have the Dynamis Sword, and I just need the Attestation of Glory from Dynamis-Beaucedine. Then I *think* I'll be able to do the 'Knights of Round* Weapon Skill in Dynamis. (but there is rumor that you need like 100 L. Jadeshells to upgrade it after the Attestation of glory is obtained)
Anyway, I'm not sure if I made it clear before, but AF drops in dynamis are totally random, and can drop from anything, and also from my extensive dynamis experiences, TH doesn't seem to have any effect on dynamis AF2 drops, however, what DOES seem to affect the drops, is if the runs have been done recently...
Say... you enter right after another group exits, it seems that very little AF drops... BUT, if you enter a Dynmais that has not been attended in a few weeks, drops seem to fall from the sky. The MOST number of drops I have ever seen in dynamis was 11 from dynamis bastok: 2PLD AF2, 2BLM AF2, 2BST AF2, 2 SAM AF2, DRK AF2, RDM AF2, THF AF2. Least AF drops from dynamis: 0AF2 I dunno how many times that has happened.
This is a Dynamis drop, meaning you need to lot against potentially any other Paladins who join you in that Dynamis. This isn't a standard quest and I would easily say getting a full suit of Relic is INCREDIBLY time consuming.
Hmmmm, i do not speak japanese/chinese or whatever that was, however, some of the armor there (like Darknight, and Samurai) look just like the artifact armor, but then there is armor there like pal relic, and dagoon relic that are obviously diffrent, so um, could some1 clear this up 4 me?

None of them look exactly the same, some do look similar though. Those are tiny pictures as well, so it's hard to see them clearly. For much better pictures, and more of them, go here:
Shouldn't be too hard to navigate without knowing Japanese, I do it all the time. :P They have very large pictures of both a front and back view of the AF1 and AF2 sets for all races, as well as RSE. Open both the AF1 and AF2 pics of the jobs you think look the same and compare them, you'll see a difference.
