Got this in early February 08 with NoSeph II dynamis LS. After ~1.5 years of Dynamis, very grateful to have received this piece. That also completes my duelist armor set.
Thank you Ulric, Pravus, Catwho and everyone in the shell.
After 3 years of Dynamis and 5 years of being a RDM ingame, I finally got my hat last night. Thank you to my LS for this gift and to everyone in it for all your support, and thank you Kaimana, you are truly a wonderful person.
I've commented on Alla each time I've obtained a piece of RDM AF2, so only seems fair to add my comment here, since getting this hat has put me 5/5 finally.
Oddly enough, out of all RDM dynamis armor, the hat has the least interesting stats. So it's got enfeebling skill and auto-refresh, simple enough eh? But sometimes the simplest things are the best. Combined with a Dalmatica and sanction refresh in the ToAU zones, I'm getting 3mp a tick without refresh. Of course, with Refresh, I'm pulling 6mp a tick (without a bard). And having a bard at this point is just game-breaking.
The extra +15 enfeebling skill of the hat when combined with AF1 body (and other enfeebling gear) is very noticeable on most HNMs. Resists have dropped to almost zero.
Unfortunately, Alla's database doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between mobs with the same names in different areas. AF2 drops off of the Kindred mobs in Dynamis Xarcabard.
This same confusion caused people to believe that multiple AF for a single job dropped in Dynamis - Beaucadine since the mobs in the cites that drop AF2 have the exact same names as mobs in Dynamis - Beaucadine.
Also, Dynamis Lord does not drop AF2. He always drops one hundred currency, with a chance of Shadow Mantle, Shadow Ring, or both Shadow items.
Heh, a lot of non RDM tell me "man, that hat is the best item in the game"...
Its great, no doubt. RDM gets its redemption from not having access to God set by getting ridiculously awesome AF gear that can be combined from 1st and 2nd version to give +20 ~ +30 (depending on which skill) in any given magic skill... thats insane. Deulist Tights, Warlock Chapeau, elemental torque, moldavite, af2 boots, zenith mitts yada yada guess waht? ur a mini BLM lol +32 elemental magic skill w/ blm sub earring ..nice
BUT... one thing about when you take the Warlock Chapeau off... ur losing 3 seconds or so on your recast timers ><
Rdm/Nin my favorite job for having solo fun... Warlock Chapeau wouldn't leave my head for Deaulist chapeau or anything for that matter. AF2 tabard + haste and AF1 hat... 27 second recast for utsu: ni (my god, SE you do love us, after all :D )
I wear this when i'm resting.. or if i'm in pty/alliance i have it macro'd in with af1 tabard for casting the shorter-timer debuffs.
If i'm fighting.. i dunno... Tiamat let's say, where i know Gravity won't stay for the length of the timer in most cases, i'd rather wear fast cast enhancement, honestly. cast that spell more often. same with Stun.. RDM/DRK spell timer ... cut it down as low as possible keep urself hasted and if you got AF2 tabard and AF1 hats, ur a god-send.
Really, Deulist Tabard gets my vote for best AF2 piece and nothing is more precious in this game than "the hat"... and i mean the one you get at lvl 60. but thats just my experiences. Deulist chapeau is still a great piece, up there with Dalmatica... but again, its usefulness is dictated by situation, and sometimes Fast Cast is just more important ^^;
/salute to all my fellow RDM's :) good luck gettin yours ^^
that macro would fail (for me, at least). you have to put a line between any two equip macros.
/recast "Refresh" /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau" /ma "Refresh" <stpc> /equip body "Duelist's Tabard" /wait 6 /equip head "Duelist's Chapeau"
or
/recast "Refresh" /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau" /ma "Refresh" (optional: <p0>/<me>,<p1>,<p2> etc, or a specific name) /equip body "Duelist's Tabard" /wait 6 /equip head "Duelist's Chapeau"
...would be a better option. I added the latter one becasue I hate using <stpc> because of the extra time used in pressing enter(if on PC) and thought it'd be pertinent to the topic.
You actually don't have to have a line between equip macros. As thf i have a number of macros that are simply 6 lines of /equips, but then again your macros works too so it doesn't really matter which way you do it.
You Wouldnt take off your warlocks for this? i sure as hell would cause for one, this drop is probably the hardest among a few others that drops in dynamis, and if you have the duelist hat you probably have the duelist tabard which gives fast cast....so pretty much its the same just u get auto refresh
I agree with you on the fact that I would switch my hats for the Deulist, it's awesome for enfeebling, but then again you can always macro it so you can toggle between the two hats, ja know :3

this hat has motivated me to level rdm to 75. well, that and the fact that i just love playing rdm anyhow :P but seriously, his hat is REDICULOUSLY good. if i ever get it (once i do in fact get rdm to 75), i can die happy.
The picture isn't loading up for me ;;. I wanna know what it looks like, can anyone tell me why it won't laod up or another site that might have a picture? >Thanks in advance
This is a common drop in xarcabard...at least for us it has been. Just no luck getting it. 9 trips, 7 hat drops. 0 luck lotting. Getting very impatient...
This set will easily gather about 50-60 MP per tic [once healing is under way] estimated of course. And im sure I missed alot of other +MP items and gear.
Other Artifact Armor II Items: Windurst: Nothing for RDM San D'Oria: Lvl 71 Duelist's Boots [feet] Bastok: Lvl 72 Duelist's Gloves [hands] Jeuno: Lvl 73 Duelist's Tights [legs] Beaucidine: Lvl 74 Duelist's Tabard [Body] Xarcabard: Lvl 75 Duelist's Chapeau [head]
What the description fails to mention is that this is Auto-Refresh. It is not Refresh like the spell.
It is only 1mp per tick, not 3.
This hat isn't actually that good, considering it only adds 1 extra mp per tick. It's not bad per se, but compared to AF1 Warlock's Chapeau, this isn't really better.
The enfeebling skill is nice, but by the time you can wear this, your enfeebling is capped in all likelyhood anyway, and you still won't be sticking enfeebles on gods reliably or long even with this. I'd rather have the AF1 hat combined with the AF2 body, and stack the Fast Cast enhancements than trade it in for Auto-Refresh, especially when I can refresh myself anyway.
I'm sure the hat has uses and you can macro it in, but it's hardly the "best" piece of gear for RDMs.
lol, what? You would rather take the double fast cast enhance's over the +30 enfeebleing? lol..seriously lol. After I got mine this past week, I have noticed with this and af1 body my resists were cut dramastically. Landing silence, slow, paralyze for the duration of a god fight is bad? If you think this hat is all about the auto-refresh, totally wrong.
While this IS an ultimate rdm equip, its about the only one of the AF2 worth getting. In my opinion, blood/crimson kiks the @$$ of every other damn piece of AF2. And its a close replace between this and blood mask. Btw, thats just my opinion, and i acknowledge that lol
Duelist Boots are also better for nuking then crimson/blood. Crimson Greaves better for soloing. Btw you should be equip changing to maximize all the equip you have. I also think Duelist Tabard is better than crimson/blood body. Only use i would have for crimson/blood body is to equip it right b4 convert to maximize the amount of MP I get back. Fast Cast OWNS for soloing as well as HNM when you have to be casting fast. The only AF2 i see that doesn't have to much use is the Gloves, but i would still find a use for them and apply to macro for equip change for the magic defense bonus if anything.
But, yea Duelist's Chapaeu probably the best RDM equip in the game.
Gloves are quite useful...The strength of stoneskin and phalanx are directly based on enhancing skill, and spikes and weapon enhancing spells will gain an additional 1-2 damage per strike when casted with these gloves equipped. If nothing else, they're good to macro in for those spells.
I think the Duelist's Tights are a bit better than the Crimson Cuisses... They have a nice Elemental Skill +10.
What would be a good idea is to swap in Duelist's Tights and Warlock's Chapeau when nuking and swapping in Deulist's Chapeau and Warlock's Tabard when debuffing.
I would guess that it's the same as all other equipment with refresh effect, which is 1mp every 3 seconds or 20 mp a minute... not a huge amount but it adds up ^^
AF armor is gotten 2 ways (i'm not talking about relic which is what this is) anyway, one way is you quest it, for AF1, and AF3, and AF3 you have to quest, other way is Coffer chest, you get the key, go to the chest and open it, and boom you get the armor(usually AF2 quest has to be activated for this to work, if not you'll just get what any thf would get for opening the coffer) tahts about it
