One thing i was wondering is if Assassin's Armlets or Thief's Knife HAS to be equipped throughout the whole fight for the TH + effect to activate. Or do you just have to generate some hate with them equipped and after which you can remove the armlets and knife and still have the TH + effect active?
#eyehatefagz,
Posted:Jun 22 2006 at 8:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) we've done this dynamis 9 times in a row and have gotten every single AF drop except Assassin's armlets.. i'm starting to think it's a myth =( o well only other drop we havent seen is shadow ring... mantle has dropped 100% so far.. thanx to CLAIMEDdynamis on Alexander DL is a breeze
Uknown to all, CHR is very important for thief... this is where SE threw the spin on us though. We need Dex, Agi, acc, eva, rng acc (for solo w/xbow on EP/DC), Str... so our equip is already stacked with other things unlike a blm that can focus on nothing but INT and Magic Att bonus... So we have all these factors and then SE says, hey, u guys need CHR too... >.> but the thing about CHR for thief is that not only does it improve DE dmg and acc, but also it helps on TH and gilfinder traits, being that these are traits, they are based on CHR. So the question is... I have war gloves and dusk trousers, to let go of att+14, rng acc+10, acc+5 eva+5 for TH+1 steal+5 enmity+5 CHR+5 enhance gilfinder... well.... no matter what u cant beat TH+1, and steal+5 is like having ur full AF1 set all in one, so i guess its worth the swap...
Correction aknowledged.

Im not sure if this has ever happened on any server but I had to post it somewhere, last week I got these finally and the circumstances were crazy.
A pair dropped, 3 thfs there lotted, I lost the lot. At this point I was pretty bummed because these are so rare I figured I'd probably never see them again.
About 3 mobs later, ANOTHER PAIR DROPS and I win the lot on that pair.
It was insane that one of the rarest items in dynamis dropped twice within about 10 minutes of each other...I almost passed out when I saw it. Me and Bootylicious became the 2 newest owners of Assassin's Armlets on Lakshmi that day, very nice day for our ls.
Drops from all the demon mobs in Dynamis X. Also drops from Count Raum, Thf NM in Dynamis X at Tower #4. Raum has a bit of a higher drop rate than normal mobs.

Hey I am curious :O did you get it off the dynamis lord, or did it drop off of a regular mob? I heard rumors that it can drop off of anything! Please tell me the rumors are true!
:O
K-thx~

Take this from a lvl 75 BRD, if i can do Devine Seal Curaga II, and eather not gain hate, or loose it quick with about 120 CHR, there is no way CHR boosts Emnity
I have a THF knife and i was extreamly happy with the drop rate of TH3, now i cant wait to finish dynamis and get to Dynamis X for the chance at these babies. im drooling at the thought of it.
I have heard it speculated that the stat and attribute bonuses on AF are related. IE on the rng AF hat, there is a MND bonus, and an "enhanced sharpshot effect" bonus. So in that case, mnd has a secondary effect of boosting the effect of sharpshot as well. I've been told that RNG's have tested this with the hat off and wearing +mnd gear and said ti's true.
So under this theory then, wearing crap tons of +CHR gear would boost the effect of TH. Has any thf's out there found a correlation between one particular stat and the effectiveness of TH??
Also I have heard some more evidence possibly linking your stats to TH effectiveness. A thf told me about how he would farm this one area for a few weeks when he was like lvl 15, and had just gotten TH. Then he level up to around 40 (so he dind't have TH2 yet), and went back to that same area. After farming a few days there, he noticed he was getting a lot more drops/kill than before. Even though he didnt' have any more TH equips or triats. The only difference was his level, and stats. So one of those two is very likely related.
In response to the person noticing a difference in drops while not getting TH2, i have to ask, did you friend record the number of drops to kill ratio, or did he just record the number of drops he got per day. You have to remember that 15 to 40 is a huge lvl difference, and the speed of kills will be 100 times better, so theoretically he's gonna get more drops just because he's killing more.
I'm a lvl 75 thf on caitsith with Thf Knife but no armlets, i'm gonna buy crap CHR gear and test this theory myself. I will tally my results in two weeks, 1 week without the gear, 1 week with the gear farming one type of mob, and see what my results are.
You may be onto something, I mean, if you look at Treasure Hunter and Treasure Hunter II in the job traits, their element is light (white colored), and so is CHR, it's a thought...
I kinda think that maybe TH increases in power every 15 levels, and so does TH2...
I have also speculated for a while now that TH and TH2 increase slightly in potency every 15 levels. I am not going to say that it is an extremely notable difference, such as we may see with levels 15 and 45, but it seems to be consistent with all of the thieves who I have talked to right before they hit 30 and 60, and I would defend the opinion that I noticed a TH1's worth of increase at level 60, from level 59's drop rate. Not as much as TH2, given, but still pretty decent. Some of the best items, if anybody were to test this, would be Ancient Papyrus and Exoray Molds, in my opinion. I currently do not have and have not seen any statistics to substantiate this with proof, nor feel inclined to delevel 11 levels to try it out, nor suspect anyone to ever really test this. Sorry. The reason why this isn't tested as much is likely due to the...inconvenience. I can't figure out why it would be pointless for TH1 or TH2 to get better. Just as Steal seems to get a little better in success rate when you level, due to mobs checking lower than before, TH may work the same way (I.E.: Throwing away 10 ancient papyrus in one week from leveling your NPC in Eldieme Necropolis, in comparison, remembering spending 8 hours trying to get your papy the first time, even with TH2 at 50). Somewhat poor example, I know, but there is little else to compare it too... Well, Assassin. Thank Altana that Trick Attack gets better. It isn't 'pointless,' and it certainly doesn't negate anything.
Feel free to rate me down if you like, but just trying to bring more to the table.
What about all the pieces that give "Steal"+1? All those pieces have different stats on them. One has Int+5, one Dex+3, another Agi+4, and yet another one with Dex+3. Which stat boosts the Steal ratio?
Just because one item happens to have another stat, doesn't mean that they're both intertwined.
I like the theory when applied to one piece of armor, but when you look at all the armor, it just doesn't work out that way.
And why would both TH gain power ever 15 levels? That would negate the whole reason for there to be a TH2 if TH1 kept getting stronger. Know what I'm saying. It'd be pointless

CHR effects the damage of Dancing Edge, it does not affect the enmity. CHR does not = enmity. Give it up. All CHR does is enhance things. It may well enhance Provoke, which makes it give more hate, but it's because of Provoke that the hate is generated, NOT the CHR.
But yes, the +Enmity is for putting more hate on the tank. :)
While Chr doesn't effect Emnity, test have shown that it helps you conserve your hate. So therefore your hate last longer, which isn't that great for xp pt's, but awesome for HNM's.
Maybe it has to do with when you are farming as /BST? SE doesn't think it's a bad idea, look at Ark Angel Mithra.

Lmao stfu about CHR already. square said it doesnt have to do with hate. [please check it.] lol Rate up to that guy that posted the link to the interview.
to try to clear up what ppl are saying about the +chr, it does not affect enmity. Chr does play an important role in dancing edge though, which is one of the best weapon skills for thief, especially solo i hear (only 64 atm, so i havent tried shark bite or evisc.) ppl have said that dancing edge is 50% dex, 50% chr (somewhere on the thf forums if u wanna go look for this), so if this is true, then this is actually not too bad of a boost.
Ok well all this "CHR affect enmity" stuff I have to say something.
It does not. What it does do that people have not been listing is that it helps "Killer" affects, but it's not like thieves get "Killer" effects just thought I'd post something that CHR does
Why are all of you guys such CHR idiots? I read all these posts on KI about chr and it doesn't seem like ANY of you understand. CHR for jobs other than brd and bst are TOTALLY different. The main purpose other than a ws mod for thf for CHR is that it slows the rate that enmity decays on a target. The more chr you have, the slower your enmity level will decay. Please, ffs, for one!!!! Read this and stop asking questions about it.
3 Simple questions: 1. Where can I get my hands on one of these? 2. Job Ability Treasure Hunter 2 + Thief's Knife + Assassin's Armlets = TH4, Does this help alot, little, all this boost past TH2 even Make a difference in drops? 3. Are there anymore Treasure Hunter Armor's?
As the Top Notch Thief I am, it is My Duty to Amass all the TH Boosts I Can ..... to Thicken my Wallet^^

#Itstanrum,
Posted:Sep 28 2004 at 6:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) charisma can effect enmity. this is why PLD, instead of having +enmity on their Artifact1 like WAR, get +CHR. i also imagine it has something to do with the fact that mithra's (the race best suited for thieving) have the lowest CHR as well.
There's no way that +CHR = +Enmity. If it did, Bards would be screwed.
SE likes to role play, they don't lke characters to be buily purly on numbers. My guess is the CHR bonus is just there because a high lvl THF is a smooth character, able to talk his/her way out of a situation...

Dancing edge is affected by CHR. I assume SE put that in so that thief's most damaging WS (so i hear) at 100% tp is relatively similar damage for mithra and elvaan alike. If it was just DEX based, elvaan would suck at it.
Well, it's also a physical weapon skill, so Elvaan str/atk bonuses will help with damage, too. Take it from an Elvaan Thief that does 1000-1100 Dancing Edges in xp parties consistently.
SE made +CHR effect DE damage 50%, simply to try to equal out the damage between all the races. That is ALL the +CHR is for on the AF2. And, these gloves are sooooo nice

how does this effect thieves in a positive way? does the + to enmity add to tank that is being used in the trick attack? If thats the case I'm sure this will be greatly appreciated in PTs.

I read that the Af2 gear for THFs has +emity on it because the enmity they have on it gets transfereing by trick making it so theres even more hate on the tank.
Exactly. And it's not as though thieves, even with a hefty enmity bonus, are going to steal aggro with regular melee, especially when PLD, WAR, etc all have their +enmity Dynamis gear, too.
