Level 30 Subjob Items

There are level 30 Earrings, Shields, Belts and Mantles that all trigger on Latent Effects. These all correspond with a job.
All of them activate via Subjob. Nothing else will trigger these to activate, NOT main job, ONLY subjob.
The newest jobs (Blu, Cor, Pup) do not have these items (as of 7/27/06).
Subjob: Bard - Singer's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Song Belt)
Subjob: Beastmaster - Trimmer's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Pick Belt)
Subjob: Black Mage - Wizard's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Staff Belt)
Subjob: Dark Knight - Killer (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Scythe Belt)
Subjob: Dragoon - Wyvern (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Lance Belt)
Subjob: Monk - Wrestler's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Cestus Belt)
Subjob: Ninja - Genin (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Sarashi)
Subjob: Paladin - Esquire's (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Shield Belt)
Subjob: Ranger - Beater's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Gun Belt)
Subjob: Red Mage - Warlock's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Rapier Belt)
Subjob: Samurai - Ashigaru (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Katana Obi)
Subjob: Summoner - Magician's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Avatar Belt)
Subjob: Thief - Pilferer's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Dagger Belt)
Subjob: Warrior - Mercenary's (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Axe Belt)
Subjob: White Mage - Healer's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Mace Belt)

There are other Latent effect items that trigger at different things such as Low HP, <100% tp, a bard song on you, This is NOT one of those items.
The only thing that activates these items is your subjob.

Besides the "theories" out there, does anyone know the ACTUAL trigger for this latent?

Yea its /nin i picked one up lastnight on Valefor for 600k not very common when they do show up in the AH their not around very long there were two last night and ive been checking pretty regulary the past month or so but havent been able to be around when one was up, but luckily i got one, first thing i did was switch to thf/nin and {Flee} to rolan field (31/15 um yea >.>) first thing i see was a wasp soo i took the belt off and fired off a blind bolt a acid bolt then my guy would attack about the middle of firing off the acid bolt then sleeped bolt and SA and thought hmm this doesnt live long enough so i seen a goblin shawman (IT) yea prolly not the smartest choice but meh it was late i was in a hurry and wanted to try it out, sooo i put on the belt and went Blind Bolt> and like a said normally i would attack during the middle of the acid bolt this time i actually attacked before i went to "ready" the bow so there is a slight notice if you really pay attention tonight ill go put it more to the test and see if i can get a precise calculation or fairly close. have fun ^^

I decided to pick one up for myself and try it out. As BST75/NIN37 dual-wielding Tomahawk (340 delay) and Bone Pick (312 delay), after 10 dual hits I have 144 TP without Sarashi, 142 TP with.

This seems to indicate somewhere between 1% and 1.5% delay reduction. I'm not quite sure how the calculation works in this case.

(Haste) of Sarashi Belt - Data Here

sup Rogues,
I've owned a Sarashi for a while and have always wondered what the relative Haste effect is of the Dual Wield enhancement. Been plently of posts on here and with the new Quick Belt's 2% Haste I've been debating picking that up. Did a little study to try to determine the approx. Haste of the Sarashi.

I went as 54THF/NIN so no Triple Attack proc's. I used two Bronze Knife D4, Delay 195 for reference (if someone wants to add to this with another set of data... Parry Knives are another 195 Delay.)

Basically, zoned to Rol. Fields. Hit Attack + Start Timer. Count to 30 swings of the daggers ~~~> Stop timer. Here are the findings:

	Base	Sarashi	Bravo's
	01:23.3	01:22.1	01:20.7
	01:23.5	01:21.6	01:20.8
	01:22.8	01:21.1	01:21.1
	01:23.1	01:21.7	01:20.9
	01:22.6	01:21.7	01:21.2
	01:23.4	01:21.1	01:20.5
	01:23.1	01:22.1	01:20.8
	01:22.6	01:21.6	01:20.9
	01:23.4	01:22.4	01:20.8
	01:22.7	01:21.6	01:21.0

Avg.	01:23.0	01:21.7	01:20.9

Diff. 00:01.4	00:02.2
Haste 1.63%	2.68% (2% actual)
Error: .68

I did one set with the Bravo's at the end to find out a relative margin of error. Bravo's is 2% Haste, results showed 2.68 so there is at least a .68 margin of error there. Therefore the resulting (Haste) of the Sarashi is somewhere around 1-2.3% Bssically the same as the Quick Belt, however it's equippable at level 30. Quick Belt is true Haste though, so it would affect spell casting.

I may try to run another set of timers to see if they come out about the same. In a non-scientific finding, the 2% of the Bravo's "felt" faster than the Sarshi, so I may pick up a Quick Belt (only 100k on Kujata now.)

peace

No idea what any of that means but I was just shocked to see the stats I wish there was more pages with info like that, not to mention stuff i understand. No doubt, good job! Maybe one of these days it will make sense to me...

BTW how does the Latant activate? Maybe I missed someone say it, dunno. THX

Me and a friend decided to test this item out the other day to see if it really did anything at all. We created a macro that would attack for 60 seconds then disengage. We used thf/nin as a test subject and this is what we found:

With the sarashi equiped: 22 hits in 60 seconds (dual wielding 2 federation daggers)
WITHOUT the sarashi equiped: 22 hits in 60 seconds (dual wielding 2 federation daggers)
With the sarashi equiped: 19 hits in 60 seconds (SINGLE wielding a federation dagger)
WITHOUT the sarashi equiped: 19 hits in 60 seconds (SINGLE wielding a federation dagger)

I was level 33thf/16nin for the test, my friend was 30thf/15nin for it. We both got the same results after testing each setup 5 times(in the order given above w/ the same weapons/armor) to be safe. Either the first dual trait gives you roughly 15.7% delay reduction or just HAVING this item in your invetory gives you a 15.7% delay reduction. There was no difference in the number of attacks attempts in 60 seconds w/ this belt dual wielding OR single wielding. I could be wrong, but I have a strange feeling there may be another requirement for the latent affect to activate.

I did a test with it just like craig did. 22 hits in 60 seconds with or without it. Someone in my LS said a while ago on the war boards here they confirmed it's a 1% bonus to dual wield. At 1% you'd have to wait, what, 5 minutes of constant combat to see an extra attack? If your battles are lasting long enough to make this worthwhile you've got other problems.

Avoid this p.o.s.

There has been ALOT of talk that all BCNM30 fight items with latent effects, are ONLY activated with certain subjobs regardless of the main job. I have only heard rumors about this... I have never tried any of the items

I thought I would post here a rumor that I heard. A high level Japenase Thief told me that they read on some Japanese forums (not sure which), that it only works for NIN/SAM. So indeed, the latent affect in this case would be having a subjob, but the subjob would be different than what people originally thought. But that is just a rumor, and frankly I thought it was bs.

I play as a RDM/NIN in exp pts and being a meleer ive noticed that its not only having the sub but it works with NIN as the main too. I think this LE is triggered by just having the JA "dual wield". and as for the delay it takes off it removes at least 10% so if youve got a 50+ job or a nin thats 30 youve got at least 25% off your delay.

I tested this theory with a DRK friend of mine with his sythe me with dual wield 2 (15%) + sarashi (roughly 10%) + haste (10% off by rough estimate) and using 2 ryoal guards flurents with 215 delay each. so

(215+215)-35% estimate off dly= about 280 dly total

and my friend using a scythe that has somwhere around 515 delay. i was attacking bout twice before hed take another swing. cant wait till i get a supmomai (i know i spelt that wrong) and see how much more delay is taken off.

So...do you think better than life belt, or just questionably better?

And are you sure its about 10%? Because that is quite amazing...You'd think with that it would be priceless, but it's only equippable/practicle for like war, thf...and i guess that's it.

And are you sure nin mains get it? Wouldn't that make the whole latent effect thing kind of meaningless?

And you're rdm/nin you say...in exp pt? rdm doesnt do much dmg from the beginning...and how do you have enough time to be doing melee dmg when you have a host of magic and job abilities to be performing, +resting if necessary?

what do you mean only good for wars and thfs? im a rng/nin and badly need this belt cuz my delays so horrible. why do i need better delay? im not a sam i dont have meditate so yes i melee and build tp along with my arrows from my knives. so less delay= faster tp build= more dmg and more SC.

ummm... when someone says they're RDM/NIN in XP parties AND they melee that should be a huge red flag not to believe what the post.

The Sarashi is LATENT. Like all the other LATENT belts (and earings) at level 30, they are ONLY triggered by your subjob - /NIN in this case.

If you want to know if the Sarashi increases your weapon delay, scroll down and read the parser that was linked here long ago.

actaully my friends and i were talking to a 75RDM the other day. (were out doing M5.2, finally beat it, yay!! ...anyway) He told us that he does RDM/NIN and dual wields the fastest delay daggers he can get. Why?? well the damage you do as a RDM with your weapon is total crap, but hte damage done by your en- spells is actaully decent. back that up with some nuking, and you're actaully contributing to the parties damage.

Some people will say to this that a RDM's MP is only good for for enfeebles and refresh. To taht i say this: you can fit all your enfeebles in the first 30 seconds of a fight. After that, refresh has a recast time of 18 seconds, which means you can get a whole bunch of swings in there between casts. Other than that you should only need to cast an odd dispel, cure, and nuke. You still get a lot of hitting in. I've parsed a RDM's damage at 25 (me) and 50 (my friend). While a RDM's damage will never be taht high, it does contribute to the overall success of the party. So basically I agree with Tackity there. ;)
RE: Latent effect
# Jan 23 2005 at 5:56 PM Rating: Decent
I've seen RDM/NINs in exp pts, it's easily possible to melee and still keep up with casting buffs and debuffs. Though RDM damage is minimal, of course I wont argue that, the only reason most RDMs are forced back with the mages is because a lot of them dont know how to use their MP right. Using the right rings and equip change macros a RDM can melee, throw out a few Refreshes, be close enough to the mob to Debuff right away and when their MP gets low they disengage and help with healing. Convert, Dark Staff and Refresh let a RDM have more MP than you'd think, and with an allowing PT a /nin or even /drk sub is fine. Of course, this isnt in all cases, but when theres a WHM, and a BLM the RDM shouldnt have to Cure unless in emergency, or nuke except for MB (which all RDMs really should do ^-^)
Having a wider range of sub-jobs makes the game more fun, and Red Mage is one of the few classes which can stretch itself out while still doing what its supposed to in exp (with a half decent player that is....)

Well, I know I'm near a year late, but the link's data is horridly off.

If you'll notice he said "before I dinged 61," that means he was in a XP party, meaning he didn't have a gimped sub. (I hope ^^) So, he must have Dual Wield II. He's not seeing the true bonus from the Sarashi; he's seeing the bonus from Dual Wield II + the Sarashi.

The best bet for getting this belt is through the Palborough Mines BCNM 30. There r 3 birds and the correct pt config is: RNG/WAR + RDM/BLM + BST/WHM. With good players this will b absolutely no sweat at all. I have a 35BST and have dont this particular BCNM 7 times w/o fail. Got sarashi to drop twice and the Avatar belt once. All other drops werent worth mentioning. I am on Carbuncle btw...

I finally got mine but I haven't noticed a much of a difference? I'm a lvl 33 thf/nin using 2 daggers, Maybe it takes a small percentage off the delay and I just don't notice it because I'm using 2 Mercenary Captain's Kukri so my total delay is only 388 to begin with. Gonna try a duel weild some swords to see if I notice more of a difference with them

"Latent Effect" doesn't mean low hitpoints, it means the trigger for the item's effect is not given. The BCNM30 Earrings for example have latent effects triggered by the correct subjob.

I have no idea what triggers these, but I tend to believe the theory that it's dependant on the equipped weapon. In this case it would be triggered either by having two weapons equipped or more likely by having 2 Katanas equipped.

No that would be Triple Wield.

It enhances the Dual Wield effect, there for it reduces the delay of using two weapons.
