Just turned 70THF and already have this earring.
I currently use Genin earring (AGI+4 w/ NIN sub) and a Minuet earring (STR+1 DEX+1 and Minuet: Accuracy +3).
Which should I replace to fit in my Suppanomimi when I turn 72?
Thanks. :D

Suppa is a 5% reduction in your weapon delay. Because anyone using it already has at least Dual Wield II, that means the absolute least you can get out of it is a 6% swing speed improvement. Swinging 6% faster is better than any other earring for damage output with the exception of a Brutal Earring, which ideally should be on your other ear anyway.

You can't really say that this earring is flat out 2% haste because it really depends on other factors. (How many other DW items/traits you have, how much haste you have) It may not seem like the difference is much on paper, but I can really tell a big difference when using this earring + 1 other piece of enhance DW equipment.

I find this earring is more useful to me because it can be used well with any job that DW and I like to play several jobs. Of course there will be players that find better use from the other earrings (I think mostly players that focus on one job), there isn't one that is definitively better than the others, just personal preference.
Is it worth it?
# Oct 09 2006 at 5:56 AM Rating: Decent
ok i have completed divine might and am waiting to claim my prize.

I am a War/Nin and always will be. Agi+2 means nothing to me. Sword skill also means nothing as i play Woodville/Juggy. The only thing this does is give me haste +2%, I cant understand why ppl think this is so great. I am actually thinking of getting a beastly earing instead wich will give Axe skill +5. Which would mean more attack and accuracy and complement my maxed out axe merits.

Once u strip down all the stats to what they really mean its like this -
Suppanomimi = 2% haste (an extra 2 hits for every 100 >.>)
Beastly Earing = +10 attack and accuracy. +5 Evasion aint bad even for solo.

Okay, I really don't get this earring.

AGI+2 is nice. Nothing really special.
Sword Skill+5 isn't half bad. Again, nothing special.
Enhances "Dual Wield" effect... totally confusing.

I thought that this earring was so popular because it gave the person wearing it the "Dual Wield" effect. It made sense to me, because one of the main reasons people sub NIN is to use Dual Wield. Utsusemi spells are the other main reason.

But what is the point in having the ~Enhances "Dual Wield" effect~ if it doesn't do anything? So far, from what I can tell, you must have Ninja as your subjob for the effect to even do anything, and even then, it's only like a Delay-2% effect. If you have 250 delay dual wielding, then you will have it reduced to about 245 delay. It's absurd!

Every other item in the game that has ~Enhances "______" effect~ simply GIVES you a weakened version of the effect, even if you don't have it naturally. I have several rings that enhance "Killer" effects, and a couple items which enhance "Fast Cast" effect. I have a cloak that gives me the Samurai ability "Zanshin". Heck, even my Bibiki Seashell makes crabs tremble in terror every 4-6 attacks, so why can't I dual wield while using this earring? Is this some kind of sick joke... or glitch... or is it just some unique item that really has no use other than for NINs, RDMs, and PLDs?

If this is some kind of glitch, and has been fixed, then ignore this. But if it really does only work to give you a tiny amount of attack speed when playing or subbing NIN, then I'm horrified by this earring.

All items that say they enhance something do exactly that. Of course, if you can't use that enhancement in a practical way, then it won't mean anything to you...

Here, let me explain:

"Enhances Dual-Wield" does enhance it, but if you aren't nin or /nin, then you don't have the ability to hold 2 weapons so the fact that you would swing faster if you had a weapon in each hand doesn't matter.

"Enhances Fast Cast" does enhance it, but if you can't use magic on your main or sub, then you don't have the ability to cast any spells so the fact that you would cast faster if you were in the process of casting doesn't matter.

"Enhances Aquan Killer" does enhance it, but if you aren't the current target of an attacking Aquan, then you don't have the ability to intimidate what you are fighting so the fact that you would intimidate an Aquan if you were being attacked by it doesn't matter.

Etc.

When you sub NIN this is a good earring if you want to attack faster. Even if you aren't subbing NIN, each point of Sword Skill adds 1 point of attack and accuracy also. So it's like having an earring that has ATK and ACC +5, or so it is rumored.

id like to point out that Dual Weild 7 is worthless. its like .2 % faster then Dual Weild 6 and 5% does exactly the same. + lowers ur recast timers.

First of all, why the **** did you post this here? Second, you can macro in Byakko's with utsusemi to shorten recast, then macro it back out for the faster attacks from koga. So, no Byakko is not better than Koga. It's all situational.

Enhancement
# Feb 16 2006 at 6:50 AM Rating: Default
Does this item give you the duel wield ability if nin is not main or sub? Im going to take a wild guess and say no. So why do ppl insist that Enhance fast cast can work if rdm isnt sub or main? You cant enhance something you dont have (ex. 50x0=0). Sorry to go way off track but i figured this would be a good point.
RE: Enhancement
# Feb 19 2006 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
Fast cast boosts work because many jobs can naturally cast magic (also with the use of a support job). However, only Ninja can naturally Dual Wield weapons and this means the trait is not transferred. Any passive effect which doesn't alter how the job plays is granted, but this one is a definete no. Sadly.
RE: Enhancement
# Jun 25 2006 at 9:46 PM Rating: Default
I'm sorry but that does not make any sense. There is a good point; that being, why would "Enhances 'Fast Cast' effect" give you the Fast Cast ability if "Enhances 'Dual Wield' effect" does not. Also if "Enhances 'Fast Cast' effect" gives you Fast Cast, then why wouldn't they say "Enhances 'Refresh' effect instead of "Adds 'Refresh' effect?" It just sounds logical to me that inorder to Enhance something you must already have it. In order to gain something you do not already have you must get an item that says "Adds 'Name Of Effect' effect."
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 16 2006 at 11:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Go read the posts on Loq. Earring or R Pumps... the enhance fast cast has been tested with and w/o Rdm sub, it DOES work. I've noticed a diff myself on smn just with the R Pumps, so imagine with the Loq earring too. And btw, PLZ stop posting bs if u haven't tested yourself, all you all do is confuse people. >.>

Since it's nearly impossible to activate that 20% Haste latent, I tried a much more viable combo when I got my earring last week. Senju + Hornetneedle, AF body, Suppanomimi, Fuma Sune-Ate, and I summoned out my boy Zenji to cast Haste on me.

To count that up, that's 15% Haste and 2 Dual Wield upgrades on what's already a 387 delay combo. Take the natural trait modifier, we're down to about 270 delay. Two more mods, about 240. 15% Haste, assuming it doesn't stack from the base value (conservative), brings you down to about 200 delay.

Basically, I didn't stop swinging. Double attacks were even more fun. And that's just with this base gear. Can't wait to get 2 more levels so I can use Haidate =D

This earring has a hidden effect that grants you double attack. As rng/nin with this earring equipped I took 3 Dagger swings in one round. It may be that double attack + is the actual enhancement to DW, haven't tested it out using a different subjob yet.

Actually, judging by your job, It's not hidden - what is does to Dual Wield is grants you a form of double attack but only if you have Dual Wield.

That's my guess, anyway.

Frankly, it screams "war/nin" to me as off handing a joyeuse/ridill with say a juggernaut (or even just using ridill/joyeuse like some folks I know) would create ridiculous damage and corresponding hate in a war/nin tank.

though of course, the AGI +2 is kinda just meh.

Actually, the guy above was the most correct. It's got all the War/Nin stats because of the Ark Angel HM that it comes from (who uses swords). But yeah... anything with Dual Wield at all will benefit from it, I say. Not just one job in particular.

I notice some people wonder about the stats on the arkangel earrings. Each one is based on the jobs/equipment of a specific arkangel. Suppanomimi for example is the ear of the Hume arkangel whos a War/Nin dual weilding 2 swords. The beast earring is from the Mithra whos a Thf/Bst... thusly why it has +5 to Axe and Evasion. They may seem strange, but these earrings are MORE than worth the effort to aquire. I love my Suppanomimi :P

Bushinomimi: Galka
Knight's Earring: Elvaan

This translation of this is Suppa's (Ninja's) Ear, if my japanese is right. The picture itself looks like a severed ear also, haha.

The word "Suppa" is a Japanese term deemed for a social class within the society of Ninja in ancient feudal Japan. A member of the Suppa was one who was of the lowest rank in Ninja, and because of such ranking, they were often the first to fight in the frontlines quickly becoming one of the stealthiest deadly agents of espionage and concealment.(Reference)

No.. you cannot use both WS's, only the WS of the primary weapon (right hand).
You will however get skillups for both weapons.

I Dual Weild Axes and get 7% TP for the first hit and 6% for the other if anyone was curious.

no, you get 6.5% tp for each hit, assuming that each axe has the same delay, as you didn't specify. You'll naturally always look like you get 6 then 7, but that's just because it rounds the displayed value down to the nearest integer.
It's the same even without DW, and with like situations in almost any RPG ^^;
