I wish I had this >.< It looks very nice to walk around town in.
The reason why the one in the SS is yellow is because they came out with this 2 years ago for fan fest 04 and this one was yellow... They have since changed that.

Yes, the wand in the screenshot is yellow because it was taken with the model viewer, but in the game it's gray.

yes i got this item today out of event and it's exacly the same as the 1 in the screenshot put ingame it's gray

I recieved a grey version of this wand by waiting one day for this event. Only difference is the color of the wnd, everything else is the same I believe, but can't check right now to be sure.
Having attended FFXI Fan Fest and having completed the 'Live Quest', I will be one of the people who gets this unique wand. I'll try to tell you all how much it adds on at a later date.
As for the Riding Skill, this will probably be a skill you can level up in the upcomming Chocobo Races(You heard me) that will be implimended later in the year with the new expansion.
SE has some surprises in store, so don't think this is it. Something about yellow not being the only Chocobo color... ^_-

this item can only be obtained at a special FFXI anniversary event, that happened long ago. (so we can't get it)

First of all, id like to say, Chocobo Diggingg is a hidden skill for a fact... ther server has chocobo bots... and the items that can be found are worth 200-1M each.. and im not gonns say what i find or what these items are.. and if you think your gonna go and try digging now.. well let me tell you, the chocobo digging skill rises etrememly slow.. for instance.. i used 3000 stacks of gghysal greens before i got my first item worth 50k+.. so it takes time... thats about 5Million gil getting your choco skill godly.. anyway. its real, i cant get the stupid wand and im mad.. choco riding time is 30 mins +all choco gear 45 mins+ wand 1hour 15mins.. thanks

First of all if it was a skill it would be on the list and second its just the same as logging or mining or any of that other kind of s***.
And if it was for an event it probably will be back cause alot of the other events have been back and with same and more items.

There IS such thing as either a Digging or Riding skill (I'd guess it's digging since there is major proof of it)... But I have almost CERTAIN PROOF THAT THERE IS SUCH A SKILL!
This isn't a joke: Set your cursor on the menu so that if you hit menu and spam enter it will take you to crafting skills... (go into Status, Craft skill, then exit out)
Zone into a new area
**Preferrably one you have NOT been into since you logged in to create more zone time lag**
as soon as you can push menu (While the screen is still dark but the chat log comes up) Go into status >> craft skills AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!
You will see all the normal craft skills and RIGHT below the last skill you will see ::Drum roll::... Riding Skill!! Shows up just as any other crafting skill like Riding (0) or Alchemy (58)... and there you have it.
:::Note::: There are also a bunch of unused fields all set at (0)... maybe a hint of things to come? I kinda doubt it, myself ^^
I'd screencap this if I weren't on PS2 (note: may only work on ps2 but I doubt that)

This true but i made it to lvl 1 choco digging yet it says Riding is at (0) so.. im guessing they will either add it in later or they took it out prior to this date.

Problem is that although it doesnt load the code to screen out the other skill levels which are supposed to be hidden, it does not load the levels either.
So the hidden factor and the level display load simultaneously- check, if you can see Riding, all your skills say zero.

These were givin out in both anniversary events to the people who were in the top 3 of each catagory on your server. So if you had the most deaths on your server, the moogle would have givin you this.
Just thought I would point out that this is completely false. If you had to be one of the top 3 in any category, there's no way any of the people that started playing at NA PC release would have gotten one. With that being said, I was fortunate enough to get one of these Chocobo Wands on the last day of the event from the last moogle I talked to. I started playing during the NA PC release and I wasn't one of the top on any of the lists, yet I still received one. I did, however, talk to almost all of the moogle NPC's that were placed around the world for this event every 24 hours, so maybe it just had to do with how many times you talked to the moogles and a little bit of luck.

At first I thought it was crafted like the other choco gear, but this shows it as EX (exclusive) so you probably get it from a quest or a drop.

It was a long past event reward, not sure for what. But I think it was an event for the JP.
It was recently brought back, as an event reward for the Year 2 celebration. It was a random gift from the moogles. If you didnt get it then, I think it will be a long while before there is a chance to get it again.

Its not proof of a chocobo skill 0.o... dont be stupid...
lets take example :
Time on choco : 1 hour
with this wand.. mebe it adds 5 mins, so the full set, body,wand,legs,feet,hands
makes it now : 1 hour 25 mins
it doesnt mean there is a "hidden skill" just given more time 0.o why the hell would there be a chocobo riding skill... thats so dense

Looks like Sarius is correct here. Digging isn't a hidden skill, all you need is 1 piece of Gysahl Greens for each hole you want your bird to dig. Then just use the /dig command.

actually its not riding thats a hidden skill. its digging with the chocobo. thats what the gear is for, more time for more digging i presume
