Just to clarify a couple of things.

* 3 of the hecatomb abjurations drop from sky gods, the other two off Fafnir and Nidhogg.

* You do NOT get the cursed gear first, you wait until you get the ajb, and then either buy the cursed (or cursed -1) from AH, bazaars or have it crafted. All the cursed items are high bonecraft, and there is only an extremely small chance that even the best bonecrafter will be able to come up with the HQ cursed -1 item. Hence, the 10-1 price difference (roughly) between HQ and NQ. The most expensive piece of material for the crafting is the angel skin, which is now much more expensive due to it being one of the ingredients to make the final gobbiebag.

* Gods weep and puppies die when people melee in hecatomb gear. It only has two purposes: being pimp when running around town, and to macro in for WSs. By the time you can get this gear and equip it, you will probably have a minimum of two sets of gear on you for anything more complicated than farming. A thief may carry 4 sets (accuracy, evasion, SATA, steal). At endgame levels (and this is strictly endgame gear), it is not at all uncommon to be spending millions of gil for the purposes of boosting one or two stats for a particular purpose.

At the point of you getting these gloves, you sell back your Gigas bracelets, and buy a pair of gloves that have accuracy on them :3 Macro these babies in for your WS, and use the accuracy gloves to build TP faster.

You're making money at 75, huzzah

From what I've heard, Hecatomb gear is mainly equipped after you already have 100% TP so that your weapon skill does more damage. Most high level thieves do this anyway: 1 set of gear with +accuracy until you have 100%+ TP, then switch gear to max +dex/+agi/+str to improve damage on sneak attack+trick attack+weapon skill.

Other jobs, like war/drk/drg could also apply this same princible, although I don't think the effect is quite as noticable as it is with a thief.

That's one way to do it. Many people also just wear it all the time and dual-wield multi-hit weapons (or a normal weapon and a multi-hit weapon). For example, there is a DRK/NIN on my server who has most of the Hecatomb set on, along with a Dusk piece and a Wyvern Helm, and dual-wields Ridill and Kraken Club. When you're hitting that much, the slow doesn't even matter, because you're pretty much non-stop attacking anyway. ;)

Maybe used for BST

I would guess these are mainly for BST, since it's + in DEX and STR, and BST use Axe mainly so it wouldn't slow them terribly too much. And if fighting alongside a pet, would not want to do too much damage to take hate from the pet. Although WAR and DRK also want DEX and STR their main weapons are Great Axe and Scythe, both have long wait times as it is and any more they would just be watching the fight.
I've noticed almost all armor is equalized, for example, +VIT -DEX/STR, or +ATT -EVA, or +ACC -DEF, or +EVA -ATT, so like you hid hard but get hit like a pansy, or take hits without a flinch but hit back like a sissy.

Just a note on the attack speed thing.

I don't understand why people say things like "Haste the Dark Knight, he's got a big delay." 5% is 5%. For everyone. It has the exact same benefit (haste) or disadvantage (slow) for everyone, no matter what their base attack delay.

Just a hypothetical here, not based on actual damage/delay stats, just on principle:

THF does 10 damage 3 times (30dmg) in the same amount of time that a warrior does 30 damage 1 time.

If you haste them both 10%, they will both hit for 33 damage in that same time window. Their weapon delays have nothing to do with the effectiveness of haste.

Sorry, just a thing I have...(had a whm/nin in group once who hasted himself only and not the melees because "I have big delay on hammers.")

any whm/nin thats meleeing and hasteing himself only should be shot.

True, but most of the times it's the drk that we wait for, in a SC. So hasting the big delay will speed up the SC, that means more MBs for blms. It's not about direct dmg from haste, it's the chain of events that comes afterwards.

Actually, whenever you use haste on a melee such as DRK, their delay on their weapons is recalculated, and their TP gain is adjusted accordingly. Therefore, as they are hitting more often they are actually getting less TP per hit. Haste really only helps melees who have LOW DELAY weapons(weapon delay less than 200, dual wielded less than 400 when added together). Explanation: Because while TP is usually recalculated, there is a cap on how little TP you will actually gain, that being 5% per hit. So if haste brings my combined delay to say 300(possible to get it even lower) on my dual wielded daggers, I will be hitting that much quicker as well as getting consistently 5% TP gain.

Incorrect. You're thinking of dual wield. Haste does not change TP/hit.

The reason you haste someone with a high delay weapon is that, generally, they also have higher dmg.

When a big weapon hits, you have to reduce damage for the defense of the mob for that hit. A faster weapon, with lower damage, has to account for that defense on each hit.

In other words, you'll do more DoT with a 40 DMG, 300 delay weapon than a 20 DMG, 150 delay weapon.
HEcatomb
# Jun 09 2004 at 12:24 PM Rating: Decent
It will slow your attack speed by that percentage, and will increase the cool down time on your spells by that percentage. The slow is always in effect, so having haste cast on you while wearing this stuff is probably a necessity, unless you have a weapon with REALLY low delay, like a THF or a NIN. The stats on this armor is EXCELLENT though. The STR+7 and DEX+4 alone make a huge difference.

I saw a THF with almost a full set of this stuff. It caught my eye because the harness has a different color then I have seen anywhere. If you put all of the set together and if "Slow" actually means the opposite of haste in this case then you would be going really slow. Couldn't see why anyone would want to use it if that were the case. Even though the stats are so good it would ***** up TP and everything and probably end up doing less damage. But who knows, I'm just a lowly level 54 RDM.

These are uncursed Cursed Gloves.

Recipe for Cursed Gloves:

Crystal: Earth

Angel Skin x1
Tiger Leather x1
Wyvern Scales x1

Bonecraft 92
Leathercraft high 50s, approximately

HQ version: Cursed Gloves -1

Uncursed using the N.Abjuration: Hands

If you uncurse Cursed Gloves -1 you get Hecatomb Mittens +1

Level 73 DEF 26 HP+10 STR+8 DEX+5 Slow+7%

Neptunal Abjuration: Hands drops from Fafnir and Byakko

Happy hunting.
Interesting idea.

Is Slow like a reverse haste? Or does this enhance the effects when Slow is cast on you?
