i started collecting money for this thing a few months back, and im still far from even thinking of upgrading to just the 2nd level. something like this must take an incredible amount of time.. time i dont have with my current work routine. maybe, one day, a year or two or ten from now, i can have one too :3

If there was some question about it, eLeMeN (quite reliable japanese FFXI info site) has the effects of all the relic weapon WS(though oddly not all SC positions), it states that it adds regen after usage for one time period...if that usage of time period is game specific it hasn't popped up for me yet::shrugs:: big surprise its used in Light SC.
Rumor states that knights of the round is different, also that it adds a regen effect to the user supposivily the guy i asked about spoke japanese so it was hard to decipher.

I'm upgrading this now since I got about everything I had to spend gil on in the game. Estimate taking about 6 month to get it done if you go full force. Gil is the problem since is cost ~300+ million gil to do to stage 5...ok more than 6 months lol.
BTW...4th stage is 61 L. Jadeshell (6100 T. Whiteshell) and Attestation of Glory that drops off the NM hydra Goublefaupe. 5th stage is R. Goldpiece (10,000 O bronze/100M. Silver) and Holy Fragment that drops off Animated Sword in Dynamis Xarcabard.

Also...If I'm not mistaken, you have to fight a NM like you do for WSNM for the 5th stage in Dragon's Aery. Can anyone confirm this? To add to this...It has also been confirmed that when you FINISH the 5th stage, you get refunded 30x100 currency that it takes to finish the last upgrade. So for sword, you would be returned 30 M. Silverpieces.
As for the other things...

I'm sure the additional effect is overidden if a RDM uses and -en spell like any other weapon. I'm not sure if that effect is lowered when you are fighting a higher lvl mob...
From what I understand, KOR is inversely related to your current HP...the opposite way spirits within is except it does a higher % of dmg. Lower HP=higher DMG on WS. However, I'm not 100% sure about this. If I find out for sure I will post it.

Oh ya and when it says the additional effect is proportional to the characters hitpoints that really means that it will hit anywhere from full hit points to a portion of your hit points. A full hit of your entire hit point total may be activated with a critical hit or something like that but I don't think the additonal effect always hits for the amout of hits points you have but a portion of them!

Proportionate= 25% of your current HP. Hits about 1/4 of the time.
Proporionate does not mean equal.... So nothing there shoulde lead you to believe it hits for the ammount of HP you have.

They are trying to sell currency for 50k per single unit and 5mil per 100 unit. Well I guess Relic weapons will become harder to get if you plan on buying currency and items from these FOOLS.

You mean to tell me, you massacred mobs in dynamis with a party of 7-8 people... in one week? I hope i am very wrong in my reading.
i am calling you a liar. no way in hell you got this in one week time. you have to wait a week just to get sword back from one of the upgrades i think(may be wrong). 10,000 o bronze peices needed just for the final upgrade and the drop from dynamis. dude go lay the hell down the grown ups are talking.
No, proportional does not mean equal to. It's a similar concept as Spirits Within, the damage is proportional to your current HP, meaning the more HP you have, the more damage.

i love the notion of a pld bringing the relic weapon into ballista. watching other players feel like deer caught in headlights. I have a pld on a dynamis ls i'm soon to enter who is sponsoring the entire project so he can get his made. can't wait to see what luck he has with it.

Why would SE further gimp 1 handed weapons by taking away the 1 advantage they have, namely the ability to sub something? This particularly seems suspect as there is indeed a relic shield too, which would seem very pointless if the best shield can't be wielded with the best sword.

I'm not too sure why this is coming from a 75 Rdm, but this is like any other one-handed weapon - it can be used with a shield or another one-handed wep. If someone does get it they probably can spam KOTR with Kraken as sub, or just use a shield. GL to anyone who is trying to get it though.

Seeing that AH number only goes to 99,999,999that number 260mil is not possible.
bazaar only goes up to 99,999,999 AH goes at least 999,999,999 but thats quite a high number lol

do en spells for a rdm kill the effects of this sword? because if I could use my pld at 75 with rdm sub and this sword......it might be so good I would scare myself..or not, dunno. would be awesome though to find out^^

If it's like any of the other addional effects like on the staves it the en-spell would kill the effect but being that it is rdm's relic weapon you would think SE would make it so rdm wouldn't have to give up en spells which we love so very very much to use the swords ability.

recently on Bismark server i was going through the AH just checkin' out anything that looked neat. saw Martial Gun, looked up price... somebody bought one for ~260 million gil x.x
i think a couple of friends must have pooled their gil together just to have that price show up for the gun's history. anyways, it's somewhat comforting to know that it is possible to save up enough gil for all of these upgrades... don't think i'll ever be able to, but who knows for certain...

Lets say you have enough money to upgrade this and enough to upgrade another. Since each upgrade makes it a different item, is it possible to have Excalibur and Caliburn at some point?
Well my question is why would you want to? And why would you spend the gil to get it like that? But thats not what you asked. As far as i know you can not, because the quest is not repeatable because it grants a rare/ex item. You *might* be able to erase your memory of doing the quest like the artifact quests but that might require you to lose the final stage sword before you can start a new one.
I'm not high enough to have been in Dynamis, let alone started one of these "quests" but I'd want to know if it is actually a quest in the sense of the AF quests, for instance, or is just some interactions with NPCs that have been labelled as quests in the non-game sense of the word.
If the former, I could see you getting the Relic blade again, but never being able to upgrade it (and pissing off a lot of paladins and red mages in Dynamis, too :P). If the latter...I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
But, like I said...I dunno.
