icon Wyrm Mail

Auction House: Armor - Body
Type: Relic

Adds Support Job Abilities to your Wyvern

  • Will give your Wyvern the native job traits of your current sub job.

    • In order for the traits to be added to the Wyvern, it must be called out with the Wyrm Mail equipped or zoning to a different area with the Wyvern out while the Wyrm Mail is equipped.

    • Due to currently having no native job traits (but capable of creating job traits based on spells equipped), subbing Blue Mage will not result in any job traits being transferred over.

Common misconception. When you swap out the armor, the wyvern loses the traits.

/WAR= Double Attack
/THF= Evasion Bonus
/MNK= Subtle Blow
/BLM= Magic Attack Bonus(However /BLM is a healing type, so it can't be tested.
/WHM= Auto-Regen
/RDM= Magic Defense Bonus
/PLD= Defense Bonus
/DRK= Attack Bonus
/SMN= Auto Refresh (No MP, so it's useless)
/RNG= Accuracy Bonus
/BST= Killer Effects
/SAM= Store TP
/NIN= Resist Bind
/PUP= Evasion Bonus?
/COR= Resist Paralyze?
/BLU= ????

Fun, fun

Very fun piece to play with (^-^)b
so far i've tried and been successful with:
/whm:Magic Def. Bonus(Tested on Bomb toss), Auto-Regen(nice for soloing, reduces uses of spirit link)
/war:Double Attack(Obvious and also very nice), Attack Bonus(hits for about half of your damage instead of ~1/4)
/blm:Magic Atk. Bonus II (Significant increase to base breath damage)
/sam:Store TP(from 5 to 11 TP per hit)

and thats only scratching the surface of what this can do...
btw, if you dont know its function, its used when you call your wyvern or zone with your wyvern already called, and it gives one(1) random subjob TRAIT to your wyvern.
Fun, fun
# Feb 27 2007 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
Wait, so what if you summon your wyvern and go into capped areas? Would it still gain the trait? If it loses it upon zoning, then I can still see this working at the hut in Ghelsba because you don't zone.
Fun, fun
# Mar 13 2007 at 8:30 AM Rating: Default
yeah, you lose buffs if you zone into an area without the armor on, so theoretically, a capped BC in ghelsba wouldnt take off buffs, but it would have to be tested
Fun, fun

I was very fortunate to receive this just last weekend. When I returned from Dynamis, I went to immediately do some experimentation. For the testing, I went into Folanberry Fields using the bats, bees, goblins, weapons, and morbols as my guinea pigs. I also made sure to unequip my weapon, and let my wyvern do all the tanking/attacking. I experimented with Warrior, White Mage, Samurai, and Monk support jobs.

First of all, support job "abilities" are not granted. Nothing was added to pet commands. Your wyvern isn't going to provoke a monster off of you, or steal a pretty little coin. It also won't divine seal it's healing breath. The description of the armor is poor - abilities and traits are extremely different.

/WAR: It took a while to notice anything. When I first equipped the Wyrm Mail, my wyvern was doing 4 damage than normal. I assumed [attack bonus] was affecting him. However, I also recently attained level 75, so I was not sure if the armor or level was affecting his hitting. I did some equipping/unequipping, to sort of "reset" the support job trait granted to your wyvern. After some time, he finally double-attacked.

/WHM: Thinking the equipping/unequipping factor may "change" the random trait granted, I equipped the Drachen Brais for +10% Wyvern HP, and waited. After equipping the Wyrm Mail at three different times, Auto-Regen had been granted to my wyvern every time. This made me wonder if a certain sub granted a constant trait.

/SAM: Was easy enough to check. Checking wyvern TP after each hit, he was gaining 9% per hit at times. Store TP had been granted.

/MNK: Sounds peculiar, but this was the most important, and somewhat disappointing fact-revealer. For this, I equipped the Wyrm Mail -after- I summoned my wyvern, to see if [Max HP Bonus] would kick in, much like +10% Wyvern HP kicks in when you equip the Drachen Brais after your wyvern is already out. No dice - no Max HP increase. Right there it told me that you wyvern does not receive -all- support job traits - little bit of a downer, but any single trait to your wyvern is still pretty cool and fun. I fought a -lot- of targets, and my wyvern simply did not counter. I assumed Subtle-Blow kicked in.

I apologize for the length of my post. It seemed that there was still a lot of mystery behind the Wyrm Mail, so I decided to share my findings. I'm still having some fun testing some sub jobs, like /BST for some random killer effects and /RDM for the next-to-nowhere possibility that [Fast Cast] might make my wyvern execute healing breath with less "casting time". I'll just have to keep playing around.

Based on the info I've gathered thus far, it seems your wyvern does in fact receive ONE(1) -random- support job -trait-, and it seems to change-up when you re-equip the Wyrm Mail.

The abilities and appearance of the Wyrm Mail are quite rewarding. Good luck to all who search for it.
is it just one?
# Jun 29 2005 at 12:32 AM Rating: Good
it says adds support job abilities. does that mean All aplicable abilities? or just one.
Thf sub?
# Jun 13 2005 at 2:39 PM Rating: Excellent
wait so does this mean if you go drg/thf with TH, your wyvern may get TH too? that would be awesome lol

This armor is great but my support job is Sam so the Job Trait ability kinda sucks >< My Advice is to try a warrior the Wyvern might use Double attack.
whats the point
# Apr 25 2005 at 3:32 AM Rating: Good
if this armour only does traits then whats the point in getting it for drg/war. although it would look cool to be in full af2 armour, reality its better sticking with other armour, yes?
What it really does.

Support Job = Sub Job as we all should know. Abilities = the abilities used by the job

It doesn't say Support Job Traits, it says Support Job ----- Abilities. Plain english.

wouldnt it say random or passive if it gave those traits, it doesnt exsactly specify which abilities it gives. wouldnt it be safe to assume that it gives job abilities but not traits?

Just asked a JP with this armor on about it.

He said:

(Dragoon) no get (enemy)(target).
My (work) not get (target) me attacker.

Make of that what you will....

Confirmed on the IGN boards; this only adds ONE random PASSIVE trait to your wyvern. So your wyvern could end up with 'Resist Silence', or possibly 'Clear Mind', or some other equally useless trait. It will not give the wyvern active traits such as Provoke or Invincible (though seeing a wyvern suddenly use the Ninja's 2-hr would, personally, scare me to death).

i have friend on odin who uses this and i have seen here wyvern us abilities like provoke, and berserk while fighting NM's. its not random and the passive abbilities dont effect your wyvern with this on.

I am a DRG/WAR, so this is what my Wyvern can choose from.

Passive:

Physical Defense Up Warrior: 10
Gains an increased physical defense.
Resist Virus Warrior: 15
More resistant to Virus attacks.
Double Attack Warrior: 25
Gains the chance of hitting a target twice in each attack.
Physical Attack Up Warrior: 30
Enhanced physical attack power.

Well according to you, it's Passive traits. And I personally think that if it got Double attack or Physical Attack up I'd be very pleased. Besides, if it's useless to the Wyvern then why did you choose a subjob with a useless trait? Unless it's just your opinion, in which case, never mind.
