The best part of Final Fantasy XI is its rich storyline. It separates this game from other MMORPGs. I chose to give my character a storyline that goes along with the game's storyline. I find that this is a more fun way to play the game. Playing the game just to fight in the endgame and collect elite equipment is very boring and is totally missing the main objective of the game, which is to guide your character through the storyline which is to save the world.

This is a great DD sword for Paladin. Aside from great damage and good delay you need to remember something, modifiers. Str and Mnd are the modifiers used in Swift Blade and Savage Blade. Str is used in Vorpal Blade. Modifiers make a huge difference, try it out by using a macro to put in rings or other gear with modifier stats on weapon skills. You'll be amazed.

Company Sword is nice, but the hidden effect (which is an additional +10 Att with 6 members in party I believe) can be a downside if you are short on members or if one DCs. And no added stats.

If the Impaired Evasion kicks in at a decent rate, just made this sword even more appealing, don't you think?
this is the best non rare/ex pld sword

I've been using this for a long time now and I think it's the ROXORs for PLD my dmg output is wayh higher with this than with the company. For 1 the delay is lower and it has the strength+3. If you solo PLD at all or like to go heavier on the DD during merit parties this is the way to go. Proc is pretty decent oo actually. Oh yeah +3 mind.

How in the world does +3 STR make up for the additional 13 damage from a Company sword in a fully party?

I dunno about you, but my DD setup already has +35 STR, so an extra 3 isn't gonna warrant placing this in front of a 56 damage company sword. Please explain.

Good Sword

This sword is great, I do more damage on WS with it then with Company Sword. I heard somewhere that the hidden effect of the compagny sword doesn't kick in on a WS. It also has a lower delay meaning faster TP.

Coupled with accuracy, the additional effect kicks in once or twice per fight. I got +25 accuracy from my TP gear; Merman's Gorget, Settler's Cape, and Life Belt.

And the good thing about this sword is that if wait till the evasion down effect kicks in before I use Vorpal Blade. It let me switch to my STR/attack gear for better damage and still have a nice accuracy bonus for all 4 hits from Vorpal Blade to connect.

This sword is in a tough group to be selected. Company sword has highest dmg and Joyeuse has double attack.... this sword is one of the few weapons in game that has evasion down. Too bad it just doesnt proc that often.
Who was Bayard
# Oct 16 2005 at 2:30 PM Rating: Excellent
Actually this sword must take his name from the Knight Bayard, the last paladin of france and universally know as the last true knight of history.
Bayard was a Noble under the kingdom of king Françoise 1 of france, and demonstrated his bravery and etiquette in over than 65 years of life (incredibly long life spawn for the 16th century)

This is one nice sword..I wish I could get my hands one one, so far there's only one I've seen on Fairy, someone sold it to themself for 1 gil in the AH, They're trying to get 3.5mil for it, I've seen it in their Bazaar, looks like it might be worth it, but still, For tanking Durandal, Gluttony, Joy, and all of those "Normal" Tank swords would probably be better.

I found out where to get this when looking for the Red Mage sword Guespiere. To the best of my knowledge they can be obtain togther at the new BCNM level 30 with a full alliance at the Balga's Dais by obtaining a Themis Orb and entering the "Early Bird Catches the Wyrm" fight. But since this is an 18 person fight it is going to be very hard to get. On Siren these swords sell for 2 million each sometimes more.
