We did this yesterday with rdm/???, rdm/???, rdm/???, war/nin, war/nin, rng/nin. Only made 3 runs. Me (war/nin) died all 3 runs, whole PT wiped 3rd run. I joined from shouts in Jeuno so didn't know the people. Although I died all 3 runs, we won and beat record first two runs, I ended up with the mantle, mercanary's targe and some other stuff since I traded first. If the RDM's kiting techniques get resisted your screwed. Also one of them does a nasty paralyze move that makes it difficult. I think doing with people you know and can depend on this can be easily done. The second run we won even though there were 3 deaths. I am on remora server, name is Phirond, if you want to buy this mantle, I need Kreigbiel so am selling it :)

Level 30 Subjob Items
There are level 30 Earrings, Shields, Belts and Mantles that all trigger on Latent Effects. These all correspond with a job.
All of them activate via Subjob. Nothing else will trigger these to activate, NOT main job, ONLY subjob.
The newest jobs (Blu, Cor, Pup) do not have these items (as of 7/27/06).
There are other Latent effect items that trigger at different things such as Low HP, <100% tp, a bard song on you, This is NOT one of those items.
The only thing that activates these items is your subjob.

Since Toadal Recall has yet to be posted as a BCNM on Allakhazam, has anyone done the BC with any successful combinations? I'm beginning to consider just manaburning it or getting 6x SMN to Astral Flow and ensure a win. Where I'm gonna find 6 SMNs to waste their 2hour just to get me a cape, I dunno, but still...
For people who haven't tried this and want to give it a shot without any foreknowledge--don't. If you'll recall for a moment the COP Mithran Trackers BCNM in which the Sin Hunters have a near CONSTANT Meditate effect, it's the same thing here--only with Funguar TP moves. They spam everything from Poison to Paralyze and it really hurts, badly.

This mantle is used for any job where RDM is your SUBjob. You can wear it as any job, you can wear it with any SUB, but the "enhance fast cast" only activates if RDM is your SUB. If RDM is your main, and you think you have fast cast, it's because you do. RDM's get fast cast as an ability, the mantle enhances it as your sub.

Picked this up today and I was sadly dissapointed. I ran a few test with my 67whm/rdm
I teleported myself to altep without the mantle and my tele animation would start around 70% cast time.
I equiped my mantle tried it again and did another teleport altep and it did the casting animation at 68% o.O I needed further investigation so i hooked my ps2 up to my vcr and switced to blm/whm and ran 3 tests.

I viewed the video and put it in slow motion and determined that the animation occured when a white circle begins to form at my feet durring casting.
My results:
Warp without rdm sub: Casted at 86%
Warp with rdm sub: Casted at 72% <-nice improvement
Warp with rdm+mantle: 71% <--wtf
I did the test 4 times and compared my results on each take of the video and they came out the same.
Being that my blm is only 62 at the time of this i am thinking of holding onto it until 70 and see if it helps with FCII or not. But at the moment i feel like i just wasted a bunch of gil on a bad item.

Don't forget that the "Fast Cast" trait is a Latent Effect, and being that this is a level 30 item, it probably means it only activates when your HP are in the yellow. =(

Latent effect doesn't always mean yellow HP. For the level 30 mantles, shields, belts, and earrings (there are fifteen of each, with a name signifying what job they match), the latent effect is triggered by having your *subjob* match the item.

as a brd/whm, i was wondering if the standard brd tactic of Horde Lullaby'ing the mobs, then picking them off one by one would work in this one as well... as dark based mobs, they should be weak to light based Lullaby, but i would like to know for sure before dragging my LS along for the ride if it will be a guaranteed failure >_<
i sub rdm when leveling whm, which is why i would like to know ^^;; not to mention, i still want to try out brd/rdm for when i have to solo with: Warlock's Mantle + Minstrel's Ring (reduce casting time by 25%) and any other haste+ equips i can get my hands on X-D

Its pretty nice since I'm a blm/rdm. I've been waiting for this to go on AH for quite a while and it finally has but for 500k. I know a brd/rdm that has been wanting it for quite some time as well. I believe its a rare drop from a bcnm20 or 30.

Ya...I've wanted this for a while too for SMN/RDM. I even farmed specifically to make gil to buy it, but someone placed it on AH for over 125% of its going rate, which I wasn't willing to pay. Thanks for the hint at where to obtain one otherwise :)

My main is an RDM/BLM, so when I level my sub, I swap for BLM/RDM. I'll definitely be picking one of these up when BLM hits 30. 3 levels to go!!!

Theres no 'set' amount of HP needed before the Latent Effect kicks in. But there is a 'set' percentage of HP before it kicks in.
And this 'percentage' isnt set for each piece of armor you equip that has the Latent Effect.
Example>>>>
The carapace set @ Lv 61
The Latent Effects dont kick in until your HP is @ 1/5th or less. And you can clearly view this in your Equptment Menu. (total Attack and Defense) Whislt the Lv50 Job specific Rings (Fencers Ring Lv 50RDM for example) will kick in @1/4 percent HP.
Hope this cleared up how Latent Effects work.

yes, but some latent effects (EX: Wrestler's Earring) are only when subbing a certain job (EX: Monk) and in this case it's RDM.

Actually since Warlock gear is RDM AF I think it only matters if you have RDM as either main or sub. It would kinda be pointless if it's RDM AF only to have to find out that you'd have to have RDM subbed. Its probably based on hp not job.

My main job is BLM/RDM and my secondary is BRD/RDM. Obviously this is my dream cape. I have attempted the BCNM30 that drops it (Toadal Recall 6-man in Ghelsba Outpost) but it is extremely difficult. All four of the toadstools you fight are TP freaks, and their attacks do about 80 damage per hit even if you're well-equipped.
Bah. I want my Fast Cast ability even more enhanced. RDM is my job, and I wanna be able to spam magic more than I already can.

Fast Cast is a RDM ability, and the RDM AF set is called Warlock, so I think this might be a RDM only piece of equip...

I assume that this Latent Effect is unlocked by putting RDM as your subjob. Does anyone know if my assumption is correct? It would be a good mantle for a brd/rdm and might make rdm worth subbing for a bard.

A Red Mage gets "Fast Cast" at lvl 15. So the mantle would be useful from lvl 15 on as a RDM or RDM subjob. So yes it would be good for a BRD/RDM if your BRD were lvl 30, which would make your RDM lvl 15...which would make "fast cast" available to you.
