No you won't lose this, or any Guild key item when you switch guilds or if you use it for a synth. I have Lumberjack and I switched from Wood to Gold.

Now since this is a key item does it go away?
I would assume that this will not go away. I would be willing to bet some Gil that it won't go away even if (or when) you switch guilds inorder to receive other guild point key items. I received Gold Purification recently, my goldsmithing level is 35. It took about 20 days or so to get it (40,000 guild points). My most recent item was Silver Masks. It only took either 2 or 3 to receive 4000+ points. Have fun..
