Cave Cherax  

If you don't want to risk your life to get your cave cherax, you don't have to do it in Kuftal Tunnel (Hate this place).

Enter Quicksand Caves through Eastern Altepa Desert, G-9, east of Outpost. When go downstairs, follow West till you get to D-9. Go south and find a vortex down in E-11. Fall down and follow tunnel till first left. Go down first left and you'll get to the underground pond where you fight Kraken NMs for Sandy 8 mission.

Use Meatballs and Lu Shang's.

Cave Cherax can be caught in the small underground pond located at I-9 (fourth map) in Kuftal Tunnel. For the four maps of this zone click here.

They can technically snap the Lu Shang's, though breaks are rare. Optimal setup is Lu Shang's + Meatball. These are large unstackable fish, so look for three exclamation marks (!!!) when something catches your hook. If you get !!! followed by the "good feeling" message, you have hooked a monster. All other messages could be Cave Cherax. If the rod tends to stay in the neutral position for a few seconds before moving to either side, and the stamina bar depletes somewhat slowly, then you have hooked a Cave Cherax. If the rod swings back and forth as normal and doesn't stay in the neutral position for very long, and if the stamina bar depletes at the normal rate then you have hooked a monster.

Cancel all catches followed by only one exclamation mark (!) since they are items.

If you turn in the Cave Cherax to Zaldon there is a small chance (~20-25%) he will find a Dwarf Pugil inside. Dwarf Pugils are used in the Indomitable Spirit Quest in order to get the Ebisu Fishing Rod. Huckster wrote a great walkthrough of this quest, which you can check out here.

It's a legendary fish, lvl 85-100. I caught @ lvl 39 =)

I think I will just get NPC cash for it...3k gil.
