I think the day and moon have a outcome on drops. I was there got 5 in 1 hr. Went back and got 2 in 2 hrs. Wish I paid attention to the day and tried again.
I'm not 100% positive, but I think if you give this a try as of today there are now only 2 viscous clot pops in the Bibiki Bay Isle. To be honest, farming as 75THF I really just walk back and forth between those 2 and it works just fine, i get a couple shots at shells while I wait for pops too, for the most part its all walking and fighting, 2 every 12 minutes, and I avg so far about 2 plasmas an hour. Not real profitable. At any rate the Beach where the Manaclipper docks and the one where the Washed-up boat are no longer appear to have vicious clot spawns. Bummer.
It's been a while since I farmed these but I believe there's actually five points-- one on each beach of the four cardinal directions -- except south beach has I believe two spawn points-- one north of the river and one south of river.
The north one i believe is on the east side... the south one is I believe west side, although they have some slight variability.

i was out on the island attempting to get Serra to pop when i came across a Viscous Clot sitting on the beach. killed one, got the drop in one kill. no TH involved, as i was a 67MNK/33BLM at the time (sub for warp purposes).
almost dropped it, decided to hang onto it to see the value at AH. glad i did.
ahhhhh.... i just killed about 30 of these as a 75brd/35whm no treasure hunter so it was a waste of time imo. At least give yourself a fighting chance and come out with TH.
Fairly rare drop, even with TH2. I got about 9 in 5 hours of work. Still, more gil than I've ever made farming any other non-NM mob. I'm a cook so they were 60k a drop for me. I'm a 46 BLM, so they con EP to me, and were DC to me as a 44 WHM, so I'm guessing they are 42-44 as a range.
So in conclusion...I made 540k gil in 5 hours being a cook, with me, a 47 BLM and a 60 PLD running around camping every spawn point :P.
This drop is ultra extremely rare.. I fought about 40 with me and RDM friend we both had THF sub. Not one drop.. then I came back with 72THF friend and we fought around 20 and still no drop.. I have given up cause this is just too annoying even if I need Clot Plasma so I can make Crimson Jelly for my BLM ><
Really? Weird, I went there to farm Uragnite Shells, found this guy, and got Clot Plasma on 2nd kill. I was 71RDM/35WHM... hmm.

I got 2 in 5 kills, but the drop rate is pretty assy according to some people (moon was at 70%, btw). 29k a pop on fenrir, and i have a direct buyer so its not too bad.
This is dropped by the Viscous Clot's on Purgonorgo Isle, which is in the Bibiki Bay zone, reachable by the Manaclipper. They are somewhere around level 45. There are four different spawns for these, all on the beaches, at positions H-7, H-11, J-9, and F-9. Respawn time is approximately six minutes. However, I must warn you that this drop is very very rare. I killed 18 in two hours and got only one drop. As a level 75 hume BLM, I can only kill 3 of these before having to rest. Expect these to be priced rather high at the AH, as no-one is going to be particularly inclined to farm these. Also expect that you're not going to see too many Crimson Jellys sold either, if not for anything other than this ingredient will be rare and pricey.
