I just got mine this week (Republic version). My experience is:
Party: Saw an increase of 2-3 crystals extra drop. Solo against EP: No real increase on two runs.
I spent the CP to get it, so I can't say if it would be worth the gil.
IBHalliwell - I like the idea of equiping this just before the battle's end.

Not that I've noticed. Maybe if you farm for like 6 months straight you'd see a 12% increase or something. Eek! THis item is only cool for rep'in Sandy and maybe (maybe) the pseudo-flee effect of 12% movement in sandy.

I recently had to sell mine because my account was literally robbed by an ex IRL friend of mine. I basically logged on one day to find I was out 1 mil gil and Leaping Boots. Not a fun experience.
I reported him but even then, when they tracked everything down I STILL didnt get anything back, which really isnt cool.
So I'm workin on making gil to buy it back (Had to sell it because I was pretty much flat broke, but someone was kind enough to offer 700k, which is a decent price on Ifrit). Now, funds are running low again, and I have the CP to buy it but I'm only rank 5. ;;
But, I have some stuff lyin around that I might be able to part with; if you need a 46 WHM or 26 Sam for anything, I'll be glad to help out; I've been doing Teles in Jeuno lately for gil and that's been working out ok.

The best thing i can say for the people who would like one is just /shout in jeuno and wait for responses from people. I waited 3 hrs till i found a good deal on mine. I got it for 400k and personally it works really good when lvling up my low lvl RNG ^^. So just keep at it and you will be able to get this sweet Aketon lol.

Federation- Usually 500k-600k
Bastokan- ALways 800k
Sandorian- 900k - 1.5 mil

I have been looking forever for a Kingdom. I got the Federation and noticed that, as a sandy citizen, I don't get the speed boost even when in windy. Complete bummer.

I just purchased one from someone for 360,000 gil. I was told by other people that 800,000 would be the lowest I would ever find one, and it was also referred to by several people as a 'million gil item'. I guess they were wrong, but I still think I got very lucky. The best way to try to get one is to shout in jeuno that you are looking to buy one, and then try to haggle over price with those who respond.

"Sandoria Aketon," I haggled another one from a Japanese character's bazaar. On the Lakshmi server, aketons average 2500,000-700,000 gil. I have two from Sandoria and continuing to purchase aketons from the other cities.
So far I just have it. The next part will be to buy furniture to increase the chances of finding crystals.

I would assume like anything bought with CP you have to be a citizen of that country you wish to purchase from. You can change citizenship as well.
Then there is when your country is in first place, you may purchase things from other countries through the consulate but x2 the amount of CP, so 56kcp home country, 112kcp from consulate of another country.

I would assume like anything bought with CP you have to be a citizen of that country you wish to purchase from. You can change citizenship as well.

I can definitively say this is incorrect. I used to own all 3 aketons from Bastok, San d'Oria and Windurst. Tested this extensively across my main (from Bastok) and mules from San d'Oria and Windurst, by "racing" people in all 3 cities (my characters wearing/not wearing aketon, other characters wearing/not wearing aketon). The 100% conclusion is that your character MUST be a citizen of the country whose aketon you are wearing to get the +12% movement speed (wearing the appropriate aketon in the appropriate country, of course). Sure, anyone can wear an aketon from any nation they want, but if they are not a citizen of that nation it will only be for looks as they will NOT receive the +12% movement speed.
To spell this out as clearly as possible:
San d'Oria citizen + Kingdom aketon = +12% movement speed in San d'Oria
San d'Oria citizen + Republic/Federation aketon = 0 bonus to movement speed in Bastok/Windurst
If you don't believe me, go ahead and spend the 800k-1mil to buy an aketon from another nation and try racing people in that nation. You will be sorely disappointed when you find you are not running any faster than people not wearing the aketon, I guarantee it.
Just read Lady Worricow's post below about not getting movement bonus in Windy despite wearing Windy aketon.

i rly want to get one of these, but unfortuanately they sell for nearly 1mil., cheapest ive seen is 500k, which i dont have. i am in the diabolos server, and if anybody can give me a hand it would be most appreciated. send a tell to Zphynx. im not bloody rich but i have a decent deal of $, so i definitely want to buy one if anybody is selling
