Another great waste of time

I figured I'd help shed a little clarity on this elusive fish, seeing as how my first few attempts at catching it for GP left me wondering if I was doing something wrong.

First you'll need to be in Carpenters' Landing South, which can be entered via Jugner Forest at (J-8) in the cave past the couple of tigers (or past the guy killing them). Alternatively, you could ride the barge from Central landing if you happen to be in the area around 04:30 or 19:00 game time. Basically, if you ride the barge enough times, you'll get there. Here's a great link to Phanauet Channel, complete with the daily barge schedule.

The one you want, as mentioned in other posts, is Emfea Waterway route which boards at 00:15. The whole ride is about 8 and a half minutes, and you only have a window of a little over 3 minutes in which to try and catch lungfish. Eunirange, your guide, basically calls out this time frame:

Starts with this message:
Quote:
"Ah, Emfea. The variety of life in these waters does not cease to astound me. Just be careful not to reel in something deadly..."

Here's your chance, cast like crazy!! Lungfish are one "!", and have better stamina than the Dark Bass you'll also snag with your minnow setup. They don't jerk much, but they still can be a pain to reel in. Their fight profile is very similar to that of the Shining Trout that you can catch in Carpenters' Landing, if you wanted to get in some practice.

Your window closes when he says:
Quote:
"This part of the canal is overrun with newts and frogs. I doubt there is even room down there for a single fish!"

That's it. Hopefully you caught one or two by now, otherwise you'll have to wait about 50 minutes to get to take another crack at these slippery little iceholes. Try to have some fun, anglers!

Here's the one bit of INFO Everyone needs to know about this.

The boat you are taking is from South to Central by way of the Emfea Waterway. you can only catch this at a particular time. The boat leaves the dock at 0050 every day. The boat ride lasts till about 0400 and then you want to go all the way back to the South landing and wait till 0050 the next day to try again.

I did this trip 3 times using minnows and sinking minnows and didnt catch a dman one. ><

Used a Shrimp lure to catch these also on the Ferry. I’m at 28 fishing and the message said something like “might be able to reel it in” with an occasional “you have a bad feeling about this” I know that’s not the exact message but it’s the basic jist. I’m guess these are lvl 35-40ish based on the message I was getting?

COP has been out for awhile and these have never hit the Windy AH and only a few singular sales on the jeuno AH.

Are the the buggers that keep snapping my line at lvl 57 fish at the North landing pier in Carpenter's landing? Haven't caught one, lost 6 minnows, no skill ups. I would guess a lvl 70+ fish...

Anyone got a clue?

I got a couple on the boat heading to central landing via the channel. I was fishing with a composite rod and a frog lure. Two came up,one right after the other. The guild in windurst wont take them though.

hmm, I read they bite on sinking minnow, not minnow. You can catch arrowwood logs there though.
