Just hit 66 and took my new ring on a test drive in Kuftal Tunnel killing some Robbers.

Works nicely, and with PLD's auto refresh, now I've got +3 HP and +2 MP per tick whenever under 50% life.

And that's okay with me.

Just to clarify i only bought this ring when i was 72 so i can't say how good it is before that. Party wise its not something you should have equipped for more than 5 seconds. i have it in my provoke macro with a waited delay to see if it makes a difference. with adaman gear ur enmity is high enough as it is :). Soloing this is a great help. as PLD/WAR i have tried to solo DC with sword and shield and i usually have to switch to staff for spirit taker. although i like to keep myself in orange at all times (another reason why that "god" only HP equip should be used :D) for the refresh i think as PLD/NIN dual wielding with HP eq this is good eq but party wise stick with vigor/topaz/robust/soil rings. just my thoughts to it ^^

Now maybe wrng but i remember this thing used to be not a latent effect...maybe i was seeing things but i coulda sworn it was ...either way it is still very much useful..some ppl may argue that point but heres where your wrong...once u get to lvl 73 u can finally swap out your pld AFs for Adaman gear...also at 71 theres warwolfbelt and durandel that +12 vit right there alond...plus another 3 vit from rosenbogen which is 70 ...then u can add all your adaman gear vit+ and u come up with a heck of alot of vit so....u dont really even need those vit+ rings so much anymore which is where herc ring comes in and it is usually paired with jelly ring at that lvl or for those who completed COP that uber rare ex ring u get from getting every COP mission done. Soooo...this ring isnt useless..if u still think so though go ahead and not use it...your missing out though

Honestly, this Latent Effect comes in incredibly handy when soloing as pld/rdm. I use this while skilling dagger, shield and parrying up in Boyahda Tree against Korrigans. I keep myself less than 50% hp for most of the time and take full benefit of the regen/refresh. It helps me last another 2-3 minutes or so per mob, which means more skill ups for me. Overall though I would say that this piece of equipment is situational. You should use it when you have <50% hp and need the extra +3 hp and +1 mp per tick to keep yourself ticking.

these rings are useless.

i've done alot of stuff at lvl 61 that a pld isn't usually invited to. avy's, af nm's. and i don't think i have ever once lost hate(long enough for anyone to get hit). +3 enmity is nice, i guess thats why theres + enmity in the af. but its not worth sacrificing the +vit to gain it.

in exp party too, i never see a problem holding hate. if i see myself not holding aggro, just tell the whm to hold off a bit on curing. in exp situation, pld should be main healing anyways.

i can see its use for farming though. i guess thats why i bought a vermy.

"/em shrugs" You gotta be kidding me this thing costs like 1/20 of the V cloak LMAO. And with the v cloak you lose your helmet and armor, thats alot of def to give up even if you are just farming. In addition you obvousily havent been invite to too many, HNM fights other wise you'd know that sometimes you dont even engage the mob you just voke it and kite it, and when your doing that you need every peice of enmity you can get, just to keep hate from the blms, rngs, and, rdms.
And no it isnt something you should exp with but I carry like 4 rings with me at all times for different situations, and this lil baby has saved my ass SOOOOO many times when Im just running around and get aggro'd or want to kill a evenmatch or whatever.

This Ring sucks *** [ . ] First off If your @50% HP; which is when the latent effect is triggered; fighting say Byakko or any lvl80+ NM for to long your going to die! +3 HP every 3 sec. wont save your ***. 2nd, + 3 Emnity is far from even close to the same ball park as +75 HP or -5% physical dmg, hell even Soil Ring. This Ring is Overrated. Solo'n/Farming is the only thing I would use this for.

bud, seriously, when you're tanking something as pld/nin and your only source of hate comes from flash (sentinel, rampart and holy circle are there too but their recast time is pretty big). that being said, dont expect to go full DD on something like Aspid and a) deal great damage and b) not take serious damage. really, the only thing you have to fall back on is enmity+ gear. Also, if +4 or 5 VIT is going to make or break your pld, something is wrong.

The enmity is awesome though, I could totally see using this for equpiment swaps, also, as far as farming goes, you get Spirit taker before you can even use this thing, and in my opinion being able to refil your whole MP bar with 100 tp is infinatly more useful than 1 mp ticks

+3 enmity on any tank job is certainly helpful, and if you can afford it {Good job!} But keep in mind while you stack up on your Enmity that it takes a certain amount of skill to be able to manage hate and to know when you need more or less hate, and how to build it, how to diminish it if needed. Enmity is important, but not at the expense of doing your job well, and in the case of Paladin using that glorious MP and your many, many job abilities consistently and approriately. The more you do, the more that enmity bonus will come to your aid.

And as far as the latent being helpful when the paladin's health is that low... this latent will not save your life, and it's returns are very diminishing especially considering that competent mages will refresh and regen the paladin to start. A little extra HP/MP per tick never hurt, but for the amount of time this latent will be active it's worthless.

Yeah... but what if we're trying to make the mob turn to the openner to get sata'd onto? I know that arching arrow/heavy shot and wheeling thrust barely ever turns the mob. If we macro this in, it'll basically eliminate that chance. In this scenario, macroing it in would be bad. I know if I want to let it turn, I have to not voke and flash as soon as they're up, and be moderate on the cures.

Personally I use it full time with no macroing for a total of +17 enmity on me. I don't party with many people that SATA. My drks usually just SA+Spinning Slash and I cover them while blm finishes it off. Anyone that thinks that vit rings would be ready for this should be shot in the foot. With this ring and either the new Sattva Ring or a Jelly ring, you have the best setup for exp imo.

A good tank knows the difference between using a macro and manually selecting an ability from the menu as well. Yes, macros are nice and all, if you discount the minor delay in accessing them vs using abilities via the menu commands. ^^ Just because you've put enmity in your voke macro doesn't mean you're limited to macro voke. :) My 2 cents.

actually I think it's more important to note that a THF still using SATA at lvl 60+ need's to change job now... ever since the Assasine's Job trait Thf can seperate there SA from there TA... needless to say! oh and for the "good" tank part of all this dispute... well a "good" tank doesnt lose hate at all!

The Regen/Refresh effect activates when your HP goes below 50%.

The Regen effect is 3 HP per 3 seconds.
The Refresh effect is 1 MP per 3 seconds.

The effects ONLY last while you are below 50% life...the moment you get 1 HP over 50%, the effects are terminated.

Very nice for farming, you never have to stop unless you're fighting tough stuff...and the +Enmity is great for XP.

latent effect kicks in at orange life it also stacks with regen and refresh fight some decorative weapons or golems in sky you'll enjoy the boost since both can and will drop your life to orange on occasion.

I see only WARs and PLDs can equip this ring. Why would SE make it that WARs can use this when they get no MP? WAR/PLD or WAR/DRK i can see why , but even then the MP pool won't be that high that the WAR would need {Refresh}. Another great item wasted on the wrong job... /sigh.

The Rune equipment is the only reason i can think of for a war to have refresh. The latent effect on a peice of Rune equipment causes your mp to be constantly draining by i think 1 mp, so having refresh is ideal when wearing Rune stuff.

I consider the latent kinda useless...
but the +3enmity is quite good...
i hav 2 vigor +1 hercules...
i keep using the vigor ones...
but whenever a party makes me feel like im having hate problems
i switch one for hercules
same for hatefull collar... and iron muskt neck
+4 enmity helps a lot... huge difference
considering pld af1 has +8...

The Latent is fairly useless, BUT it is fairly useful in HNM situations such as Kirin (where you're kiting and won't have much of a chance to attack for aggro) and Fafnir/Nidhogg where BLMs love to overaggro.

Semi-specific uses, but its handy there.

Because this ring is available so high in level ==> when Lv.3 Light/Dark skillchains become available, it is impossible to overcome the amount of hate from a SA+TA weapon skill that ends the skillchain, pegging the hate on another party member. The enmity isn't worth it. Now if this ring was ~50 then I would consider it better until 65 for those reasons.

this is ring is my ranger saver ^^ i equipt it when i have cocky drks and rngs tryin to pull hate off me i can notice the difference quite a bit it helps but yes if ur in a pt like mine today where the ranger uses barrage arching arrow then drk sata's onto ranger for 900 spinning slash and 900 light dmg ur hate is gone no chance for you do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars luckyily enough they were smart and only used this to finish mobs off with ^^

well i guess the letent effect is a bit worthless in party's..... but the emnity+3 helps alot. if i had this ring i'd wear it in Exp party just for the emnity, but it'd be better for NIN no? the other emnity+ rings only does +2 or is there a +1 of that.... meh

I purchased this ring on Titan for 500k and used it for about a week in a few different settings.

INFO: Regen = 3hp/tick
Refresh = 1mp/tick

Latent effect activated when HP hits orange. Deactivates when you reach yellow HP again.

EXP Party: Worthless. Latent effect will rarely be activated for more than a few seconds. If you're lucky, you might be one or two ticks in from the latent effect before the White Mage heals you. A good Paladin will heal themselves at yellow anyway, it's a major part of hate handling, no?

Farming: Barely useful. It's nice to have an effect kick in, but if you're farming at this level (with a Paladin no less) you are wasting your time using this ring anyway and you're throwing the enmity out the window. You'll probably avoid being hit to begin with.

Solo (NM): Worthless. Enmity = who cares. Any NM a PLD67 can actually solo with little trouble wouldn't require this ring at all.

HNM Battle: Worthless. You'll probably be kiting the mob most of the time anyway so skip this one and save yourself the gil. Both the Enmity and the latent effects won't matter considering you will be taking considerable amounts of damage and acting as the primary target for healing spells.

Overall rating: 2.5/10

I got this ring a few days ago for 15k on Cerberus. But im not a Paladin or War. In fact im a WHM. So guess what im going to do? Sell it back for 400k.

It's not red HP. Half HP / yellow, I've tested it out, although yellow isn't exactly half, the beginning point where you're yellow is just close to half. It'll stop right at the beginning point of yellow HP.

I know some of you will disagree, but I've been using this ring all the time while farming Zi'Tah, and it without a doubt goes off the moment you are at or below the half HP point. Extremely useful farming ring, extremely useful exp ring, glad I purchased it...

PLD 67 / WAR 33, HP is 1,266 or so. So, 633 is where latent would go off.

PLD 67 / THF 18, HP is 1,140ish? So it'll be in the 570 range.

Umm..I'm sorry but anyone who doesn't think this ring is awesome should get their Helm checked. Not only does this ring give +3 enmity which is awesome for any tank. But you start to get MP/HP regen when you get into red. Now some of you may think that you don't get into red that often but just think about it from a healer's point of view. A whm 61+ will mostly use Cure V to cure less hate better HPgained /MP used. Although there are conditions to the refresh/regen thay are just an added bonus which kick in more than you think. And, like some have stated before it is awesome for farming because you will never have to rest.

the ring is activated at orange hp and will stop when hp hits yellow. useless rign somewhat except for the enm in pt situation. excellent when it comes to farming though. never have to rest. hp will stay at yellow. through 5 hours of farming, i didnt have to rest at all

He said the regen effects are activated once the PLD hits orange health, but keep going until the battle is over! He tested it out and got full HP and MP while fighting something weak. Pretty awesome I'd say, since a PLD's health usually dips below half at some point in the battle.

Latent effects trigger when hp is at 75% and lower (Yellow hp, same hp you agro undead at) and when your tp is lower than 100%. If you go above in either case, Latent effect disappears until you meet the condition again.

not all latent effects occur on low-hp.. some activate when you have a specific sub-job or a certain amount of TP, or some other wierd purposes.

I bought this ring for 700k on Phoenix the other day and went out to test it. The trigger for the latent effect is orange HP, so less than 50%. When active the ring's latent effect gives 3 hp and 1 mp every 3 sec.

Frankly I'm disapointed in it. As a Paladin I'm never in orange HP unless I'm about to die. I solf it back the next day for 660k. Damn SE. What kind of trigger for regen is low HP? As soon as you start healing the latent effect stops >.<

well, its good because of the enm. plus its excellent for farming. i farmed all night and would hit orange and my hp and mp would stay up constantly at full mp and 673 hp because of the latent effects

Considering all the job and subjob-specific themes SE has been employing lately, I suspect that the latent effect refresh is applied if you are a PLD... and the latent effect regen is applied if you are a WAR... After all, what WAR needs refresh? (If you are subbing WHM at this level, you need a serious /slap)

However... this is just a theory.. Kluya's only lvl 49.

All rune equipment has latents activated by 1 per tick MP loss, so this isn't toally worthless in the Refresh section for a WAR.

i found out what the activations of this ring are....with pld/war job setup, hp must be in orange...so about half life left, and it activates both effects

i bought the ring last night...490k. it is a NM drop in one of the expansion areas. im not sure what it drops from but i know for fact that it is dropped in an expansion area. i still havent found out what activates the refresh/regen effect. its not yellow hp, its not faster recovery when healing, its not when any of the pld job abilities are activated. im going to test to see if it is active when hp is red, and also test to see if its active if pld is the subjob and war is main. if thats what it is, im selling it

Paladins now have MORE! armor, raise at 50, a specilized spot in almost every party, have taken ninjas thunder, and now have natural refresh AND natural regen through armor?! all they need to do now is give them something to perform provoke with! jesum dude give some new stuff to bards. </rant>

there is an ammo equipment that give provoke at lvl75... so a pld/nin with that ammo would be the perfect tank O_o flash blink provoke

It doesn't give provoke, it provokes the monster when you throw the item. Not too useful without unlimited shot.
