to clear up any confusion on what each anima does,
Psychoanima makes the boss stop attacking you. it will still use WS's and specials. Hysteroanima will make it stop using its specials and WS's, but it will still physically attack you. Terroanima makes the boss run around as if someone were kiting it. good for re-organizing the group or healing.
each anima lasts 30 seconds, and works on any promy boss.
Recently Farmed Mea with my LS for upcoming Promy runs.
Total Take: 5 Recollection of Guilt 4 Recollection of Fear 0 Recollection of Pain
Total Time: 47min
PT Setup: WAR/NIN RNG/NIN RNG/NIN WHM/SMN
Also, just a tip: When you trade in your Recollections with 2,000G you get the anima that instant, no waiting. If you then go back to the Promyvion area and farm the same recollections you just turned to anima, you can recieve them again. You can even turn them into the NPC, however, this time he will simply hold the Anima for you. At this point you go into the Promy of your choice, use the anima on the BCNM fight knowing that should you fail (and we hope you don't) you'll have a backup of that anima in Jeuno. If you really want to get ahead, like I did when I completed my missions, try this:
1. Farm each type of the recollection, trade them to the NPC, recieve each type of Anima. 2. Return to Promyvion, farm one of each type a second time. Pick 1 recollection trade it a second time. He will hold the anima for you. He will only hold 1. 3. Return to Promyvion , having in your possession all 3 types of anima, with 1 duplicate of the three being held by the NPC in Jeuno. Farm the recollection that corresponds with the anima he is holding for you and then proceed to fight the BCNM. Use all anima you have obtained 4. Return to Jeuno, talk to the NPC, recieve the 1 anima he is holding for you. Trade him then then the other recollections so that you have all three kinds of anima again. 5. Lastly, trade him the recollection that you had him hold last time. 6. Repeat BCNM, repeat farming
If you do this properly, you'll find that you'll have 1 of each type of anima per person in your party. This makes life increadibly easy during the battles. It's a little complex, but hopefully I've explained it well enough so it works for others too.
These things do wonders in the promy fights. I did holla a few days ago for the third time and finnaly won. All thanks to 2 animas and the fact that the party was made up of the LS i was in had a big affect on the outcome. One of our rngs used one of these things and the boss ran around in circles like an idiot. He was a sitting duck for my Astral Flow lol. Good thing is on the way to the boss i got two recollections and now i got these things ready for my last promy when i go to mea, cant wait :)
Well, to clear this one up. If someone uses a Terroanima, causing the mob to run around in circles.. Astral Flow will fail, so the mob wont be a "sitting duck to astral flow," like this person said.
DavyCrockett sorry to call you out on this one, but actually you didn't just have this item drop. being that it doesn't drop. The recollections, that drop in Promyvion areas are used to have the item made for you.
---------
You trade the recollection and 2k to Harith in Jeuno Ru'Lude Gardens. He's located in the house behind the Grand Duke's Palace.
It's simple how it works... Rec of Pain --> Hysteroanima Rec of Guilt --> Terroanima Rec of Fear --> Psychoanima
Effect: Hysteroanima = prevents TP attacks for 20-30 seconds. Terroanima = Causes the NM to run around in a clueless manner, where it doesn't attack. Lasts 20-30 seconds. Psychoanima = Causes intimidation for 20-30 seconds.
In Promyvion-Dem: Wanderers drop Recollection of Pain Weepers drop Recollection of Guilt Seethers drop Recollection of Fear
In Promyvion-Holla: Wanderers drop Recollection of Fear Weepers drop Recollection of Pain Seethers drop Recollection of Guilt
In Promyvion-Mea: Wanderers drop Recollection of Guilt Weepers drop Recollection of Fear Seethers drop Recollection of Pain
Farming: I suggest if your going solo THF/NIN. the drop rate doesn't seem to be bad. At most I have to kill 10 or so wanderers before I recieve my drop. If you decided to go in with a friend or two I suggest nin/war simply for the provoke ability, unless your not going to tank. I have notice that drops are slightly slower as the size of the party increases. Since it's safe in all the Promyvion areas to solo these targets with a THF/NIN providing you have blink...I suggest soloing for faster drops. Also I haven't seen links so far. I have tried to link, using range attack on wanderers near other mobs, but they don't seem to link. If anyone can reconfirm this, it would be nice. As far as food, a good attack bonus and hp regen food helps. But generally you don't lose much exp and a lot of that regen goes to waste. But atleast you won't be resting.

They do NOT link. 100% sure of that. One other thing i found strange. I went with my whm friend and me(war/thf) Tried to sneak attack beginning of fight.
I did not land a SINGLE one. They turn before i can get the first hit from behind. very strange. Killed about 20 for 6 anima
well i dont know about vhazel, but as far as the first 3, they most certainly DO link. go ahead. try it. go into the middle of about 6 and tell me they dont then hmm. LOL. thats my 2cents.lol
lmao they do NOT link.. but they ARE true-aggro mobs so SNK/INVS wont save your ***. and standing in the center of a group of AGGROing mobs doesnt sound like s smart way to test if they link lol
ACtually your wrong, these things do not link. I just completed my Tactics Pearl quest and was killing empties in there with my NPC. I pull'd from within a crowd of 6 many times.
Also, we all know that they agro, so what would running into the middle of a group of them have anything to do with checking whether they link or not? Please think before you post.
Sure, I'll try it. Do it all the time in fact as a RNG and the do NOT link. They aggro, and have a pretty big aggro range, but I pull all the time from the middle of a pack.
they most definately do NOT link... I've farmed promy for memories enough that I got entire levels (even in the 50s) there, I did each promy more than once...did all the ENMs, helped people get a total of like...30+ sets of recollections... these things do NOT link.
Any mob within Promyvion has the possibility of dropping a "Recollection of _____" (R/EX). There are 3 different Recollections (whose names unfortunately slip my mind at the moment. I know for sure one of them is named Recollection of Fear). They are a very rare drop, and you will most likely only get one if you farm Promyvion, not just run through and fight the BC boss.
Once you have received your Recollection, head over to the Archduke's house in Ru'Lude Gardens. The Archduke's house is located right (--->) of the AH, and to the left (<---) of Maat. Once you open the front door, there will be a NPC in a Black Cloak (Lv68 BLM JSE body piece). Trade him your Recollection, wait 1 GAME DAY, and talk to him again. You will receive your corresponding ____anima that relates to the Recollection you traded him.
Now, I believe that after you trade your first Recollection and receive your ____anima, you can trade a second Recollection and the NPC will hold on to that _____anima until you have used your first one.
I think when the original release of CoP came out this quest required you to wait a game day after turning it in, I think this was later changed during a patch. Note that his post was in 2004.
This thing made the saving play, I would of died as a white mage and the party along probably if I hadn't used it. It aggroed me and I used it while it hit me down to about 54 hp. It then became paralyed and in time it was voked back to the tank. This anima I think is the best out of the 3.
This thing is lovely. The recollection of fear was a really rare drop for me. I'd been killing the little wanderers by the entrance to promyvion-holla for a while before it dropped.
When I used it in the Promyvion-Mea NM fight against the Delver, it made him intimidated and unable to hit for a good bit of time. We got to use all our melee 2 hour while it was intimidated and it helped a lot.
If you find one of the recollections, I highly recommend going to get it changed into an Anima. Seems to be well worth it.
