While +12% movement speed is good, well, only thf/rng can use... I dont' really think these things are very special, other than movement speed, stats suck. These imo are more of a status symbol then a practical piece of armor.

If you're going to go /RNG, use a bow, gun, or x-bow. Also, Wyvern's Targe activates on having /DRG subjob. Without it, you get nothing. I'd recommend Lantern Shield or something else instead. Also, you're probably better off going for RAcc from macroed in Beetle Ring+1s than from an Archer's Knife. That way your WS damage doesn't suffer.
Wtf?! How do they even compare. 12% anywhere (including NM camps and pulling areas) or 12% in a city, where you have all the time in the world.
You could also use an Aketon, these, flee, and down a hermes quencher for some nice speeds.

ok guys, first off, if you use flee at all with all these othere buffs, they all get canceled out by flee even though you still see them, flee doesnt stack with anythng. so having all these speed buffs then activating flee, iis the same as just using flee w/o goin through all the trouble of speed buffing.
Where what you say is true, flee does wear off. Afterwards, it comes in handy to have everything on that the above poster(s) suggest to -keep- going at an accellerated pace :)
Needless to say, all debating aside, there is another NM on my list now that I want to hunt. {Simurgh} {Can I have it?}

I hate myself for what i did recently...i saved up 10 Mil to get either a Peacock Charm:10mil gil or Strider Boots:8mil gil. Being a RNG, i figured i'd get the charm because it was more important to my stats. So i went ahead and got the charm. A week later i got enough gil again to get the Stider boots. there was one pair in the AH so i placed 8 mil on em...no sale...then i checked the History on them...THESE THINGS DOUBLED IN PRICE IN LESS THAN A WEEK! form 8mil to 16 mil on Unicorn server >.< I know that winged boots are better for the dex, and agility...but these wouldve been nice just for status ^^ but now my dream is shattered on ever wasting the price of 18 mil that they are since i just checked last night!

Friends are just enemies that don't have the guts to kill you.
If you don't have 6-10 people from a HNM LS to fight for these... don't bother. On Odin there's always 20-30 people camping Sim to get these. We're 2/13 on drops over the past 15 days. They are such a rare drop that it's amazing they last more than 20 mins on the AH.
After third kill with Ls last night we got the boots. We decided to sell them for LS account. There we currently none on AH in jueno on Gilgamesh. Last sold was 25 Dec 04. The price history was as low as 7.5m and as high as 12m. We decide to sell for 10m. The boots were on the Ah for 47minutes and they sold. *sigh* wish I put them up for 12m. Ohh well thats 10 Dynamis runs that are free to LS.
By the way the first 2 times we killed it we had a 70 thf with us. No drop
lol if you all are complaining for 4million-5million then u all are lucky!!! on gilgamesh there 7-10million!!! it sux ill probably never get these boots i dont think any1 will pt with me and just go ahead and them pass and me lot.lol.
I am a lvl 40rng, and i wont start lvl again until i have these, and whatever else pimp gear, maybe a peacock charm, although i dont think that it is all that great, so i might just get a jagd gorget instead. But i dont want these to pull, i want strider boots(+12%) + rank 10 vest(+12%) + Movement potion + Flee and have races lol. I will be the fastest man alive! Thats my whole goal in this game.

i've seen that, only an enhanced version of it! level 73 ranger/thief with kingdom aketon, crimson cuisses, and strider boots. he used flee and had a bard cast chocobo mazurka on him, then ran around san d'oria screaming "NO ONE CAN OUTRUN THE FLASH!". really made my day :P

lol you think these dont help when pulling? hah Try xpining at ul range the new COP area at lvl 73-75. Demons catch up to u by the time ur bolt fires and hits 5-6x in the way back.... ut:ni takes 4 hits.... then u take 200/hit and if its a warrior 2-4 hits at 200dmg per.... thats 800dmg and quite substantial... especially if u mess up ur dead...
on another note....
Demon skulls drop there Demon horns drop there Dark spirit pacts drop there tarus wings drop there as well as many other high price items... and at 74/75 we still get 90-170 and on chain 5's 195 some times :P hell of alot better than ranps...
This very much is worth it. I am an elvaan ranger, and a little lacking in the agility department. Any equipment that i can use to make up for this deficit improves my character greatly. Why? because my ranged accuracy goes up from having better agi. This DOES help me solo toughs
cought *lie* cough, 1st if u wanted agi u could of gotten the winged boots or leaping boots that r 16times cheaper ( yea 480k on our server ). these boots are NOT for the agi. its for the 12%movement speed... the agi is welcomed addition but its not the "main stat" of the item. and that 12% movment speed is for HNM fights's and such... or just for the heck of it.
and bout soloing a T at 55 total BS i doubt u can even take a decent challange or even match at that lvl, only bst's can or maby a uber ninja
Thieves can solo Toughs at just about any level (I solo'd an entire level post-50, don't tell me only BST can solo Toughs. Hell, even BSTs have pets, they aren't truly soloing, a THF is) ... And DRG/WHM ain't bad either for solo play at "high" levels.

I'm sorry to tell you, but a RDM can easily solo DC-EM at that level, I have'nt tried toughs at that level, but I'm sure its doable, just takes a long time. Don't doubt the RDM! rawr ^^

Yeah 3 lvl 55 ppl killed Simurgh. |lie| I have trouble hitting Simurgh with Sharpshot at level 65, and you're telling me you and two of your friends can beat it?
Look at his Emp camp i HIGHLY doubt he got emp thats much and goteen 89 drops and Hed get owned at lvl 55 No matter what Sim would kil him in 4 hits thats just plain down lieYou cant even solo this as a lvl 75 without a duo healer unless you go as NIN/RDM at lvl 70-75 like me and you know why his subs were underlvled? BECAUSE HE WAS MAKING IT UP AND JUST THOUGHT THAT 20 WAS THE RIGHT LVL!
Yeah 3 lvl 55 ppl killed Simurgh. |lie| I have trouble hitting Simurgh with Sharpshot at level 65, and you're telling me you and two of your friends can beat it?
8 million in Jeuno on Carbuncle...8 million...and the price history is full, which makes you wonder if all those people REALLY did pay 8,000,000 gil for a pair
Pulling raptors slap these on so you don't get raped as much on the way back. You'll still be outrun but it'll save you a few extra hits on the way back.

Sorry if it was stated somewhere, but do these make you run as fast as flee does? Or do they just make you slightly faster? Either would be great, but if it goes as fast as flee, you would never need a chocobo again!

No, it's not as fast as flee, it's really just slightly faster. If it were as fast as flee, i would have kept them instead of selling, since i wouldn't need any more eva since i'd never get hit again. *tag mob, kite around zone, invincible!* -Vert
(1) strider boots sell so high because they are very helpful in NM hunting. since NM hunting can have a very high return moneywise (for example, leaping boots, which sell for as much as these on my server but drop from a monster easily solo-able by anyone level 17-18 or higher), it can be very profitable to invest said money.
(2) leaping boots sell so high because from level 30 until 50 or higher they are absolutely the best item for thieves to have because DEX and AGI are multipliers for the SA/TA fuidama stack (dexterity for sneak attack, agility for trick attack). in addition, since these are equippable at low levels if you have either the patience to hunt lizzy and fight a dozen other people for her (usually with flee and widescan and strider boots and other things your low level ass doesn't have), there is a huge payoff either gilwise or boostwise.
(3) liartyler is right, these are all temporary investments. since you can always sell your gear essentially for what you paid for it (bearing market fluctuations), 300k doesn't seem so bad. let's examine: say you have found a way to farm 10k an hour, and you spend 2 hours farming at each level from 15-30. this means that for every 2 hours you farm you are adding 20k to your total investment in equipment. even if you spend this money on lower level items, you will get the money back for those items as you replace them. therefore, a 300k item only implies 30 hours spent farming by this formula. not bad considering that whenever you outgrow the item you can get your 300k back. no risk!
i first realized this when saving up for traveler's mantle - 30k was steep for a lv12, but the eva +3 was a must-have for a thief puller. once i realized i only had to spend 3 hours farming to get the money, and that i was going to have to start farming in order to invest money for the future anyway, didn't seem so bad.
i am a low level ranger and i think movement speed would be good cause pts usaully make the ranger pull cause for the widescan and wide scan plus ranged attack plus these boots...equals a good pull i am buying these once they are on sale int he ah in jueno for 3.6 million gil....agi is alos good for ranged accuaracy i belive
umm tell em again how widescan helps when pulling?
90% of the time your gonna be trackinga mob thats already claimed.
strider boots are a status item, and a status item alone, they dont help you pull faster when going for HMNs they dont help you do shyt besides look cool runing fast all the time.
leaping/winged give better agi and they give dex, so there is no reason a thf should wear these.
rngs who say they want em for puller are idiots, quit being lazy and sub nin for utsu, if you get hit more then three time on the way back, then you deserve to die.
ok harshness over.
IMO these are the biggest waste of gil in the game, mayeb if they added some attack or something besides a lousy 2 agi and a useless 12% in movement speed i'd even concider switching my ebow savings to strider boots saving....
but for now there are way too many other 5+ mil items that actualy have use.
ebow peacock charm snipers+1 scorp harness and so on i /laugh at anyone i see who brags about these because they are crappy IMO, i wouldnt buy em for 500k
Think about it like this: A 12% speed increase means you will get to monsters 12% faster to start pulling them. Once you get to a decent level (late 30s), any and all downtime should be completely gone, so this should technically result in a 12% increase in your experience points gained per hour (in theory). Well worth the price if you ask me.

Yea...that theory would hold true if they also added +12% haste to everyone and +12%regen and +12% refresh.
Figure the math: 2 minutes to kill a mob and 30 seconds to pull: total time per mob: 2:30
12% faster pull only affects the pull time so, that would be 2:00 + (30*.82) which gives you 24.6...for a roral time of 2:24.6 seconds, a savings of 5.4 seconds.
This is not to say I would not love to own some strider boots, cause I would, and yes, that speed can definitely make a difference in getting to a mob before someone else, but I dont think they're 8MIL good...theyre great for the character that has everything.
I've been wanting these since I was a lvl 3 monk. Now that I'm a thief, I finally got around to checking the price of these.
5 million gil for a pair!
If there are any high lvl HNM camping groups on phoenix who'd like to camp a pair of these for me I'd be forever in your debt. Until then, looks like I'll be spending the next nine months farming. >.<

Look at the stat you underestimated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RE: MoVeMent Speed Increase +12% !---Whats your View !!
I've been wondering about this too. Thinking about it, I'd imagine that it would be incredibly difficult, since we'd have to stop, turn around, fire, turn around, run, for each shot. If it will work, I'm thinking a shortbow is a must...the huge delay of longbows would make this just about impossible.
i'm missing something here: leaping boots, Strider boots & all the other items that are really low level but have superb stat boosts are obscenely expensive but sell quite frequently. Why is this? i can't imagine that +3 to Agi & Dex will improve your chances of soloing toughs or whatever enough to warrant a 300k+ price tag. Can someone clear this up for me. it's doing my head in.
I've heard this question way too many times. When there are 5 lvl 75s of the same race, of the same job, with the same subjob with the same subjob lvl, which one is better? This is all based on your equip. If you don't think +3 dex +3 agi for ONE piece of equipment is good, then equip whatever you like because you obviously don't understand the essence of this game. Yea sure +3 dex dosen't sound like a lot, but when combined with a lot of other equip it adds up. Even if it means paying 100k to sqeeze in just 1 more dex, it's all worth it because it puts you ahead of the pack. You may not think this way, but with more experience in the game, you'll notice that people's impression on you change dramaatically with the equip you have on.
i agree... cuz i'm a lvl 30 drg/15 sam \/ and i try my hardest to only get stuff that can up my dex... so i've got leaping boots, eperor hairpin, 2 balance rings, and a Spiked Necklace which is alot of dex... and it makes all the differance
god does it really matter why someone is a certain class? Ppl play the game they way they want, not just what "the man" says... if a person enjoys being a mnk/smn good for them, sure I'll never invite em but at least they're having fun... so don't be so critical guys.
I don't have problems wiht people having "questionable" job/sub combos, but its get anoyying if they do the whole "I'll play this game how I want to, and you cant tell me how to play" then start spamming for parties and pissing everyone off. Just my 2 gil.
You need to remember that these kinds of investments are temporary. You need only to have the 300k lying around to buy the item, use it for 10 levels, then sell it to someone else. If you're a high level player playing as a new job, the 300k can be fine.
This very much is worth it. I am an elvaan ranger, and a little lacking in the agility department. Any equipment that i can use to make up for this deficit improves my character greatly. Why? because my ranged accuracy goes up from having better agi. This DOES help me solo toughs. Other jobs, such as theif, benifit greatly from having additional dex. The fact that there are people willing to spend the kind of gil required to get these items is evidence that people feel the benifit is great enough to spend for these items.
