yea well my story ... Got up at 8:00 camped till around 9 missed 3 pops a while before the next pop this fool told me to stop harrasing him (i was standing a inch away waiting for him to flee)
not 5 mins later VE spawns for the 4th time that day he flees i flee and for some odd reason he kneels down HAHA lol i run by claim with steal and get a ...........OMG (Insect wing) later i laughed at him for healing on accident ...oh yea i wonder ifthat insect wing is worth any more ??? ^^ just goes to show 12 hours can get u a hairpin but theres better ways to spend ur time BCNM ^^ at the time i was 35thf/bst2 lol gay choice but w/e

One of my the members of the LS camped this for 40 hrs within the span of a week. In this time he had 3 claims witnessed 9 pops that he did not claim and got 0 drop. At any given time there were between 2-5 LS members helping him.
First, if you do not have FLEE you are at an IMMEDIATE dis-advantage. This is the second most camped NM on Ifrit from what I've seen and the competition is quite adept.
Second, WIDESCAN is a must. A lvl 30+ Thf/Rng is going to be your best bet for bagging any NM that has a random spawn point. Note on low levels though: It says he is a lvl 29-30 mob so would con as EM to a lvl 30, frankly I wouldn't attempted to take him unless my main job was 35+.
Even with all of those tools at our ls members disposal none of the claims panned out with TH1/2 both in the pt at seperate claim times and with several members using WIDESCAN.
One level 50thf took the claim three times in a row while I was there; she killed none of the place holders, she was just patient. Saw the pop on wide scan, hit her flee, did a "steal" to grab agro and finished the fight in short order. In those three claims she didn't get the drop once as a lvl 50 thf. The spawn times from what we saw were between 1 and 6hrs. We may have missed a spawn time in that time, but with two people using widescan, I doubt it.
Good luck hunting this thing to equip or to sell, its a tough mob to bag with all the competition.

Flee and Widescan are not necessary albeit helpful. I have claimed VE using Dia as a BLM/WHM.
Hellyea boyeee ive hunted this thing acouple of times but the first time i ever saw it i fought it and got the DROP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so im 1/1 on this fly and me and a friend hunted this thing a couple of times but cant get to it cuz some damn BOT is always there hes a lvl 75thf/37rng i hate his *** btw im on the Gilgamesh server and if u hunt the Emporer and u see a hume by the of Joaq... not sure what the rest of his name is but it starts with Joaq i hate u you stupid BOT/Gillseller!!!

On Caitsith these suckers range from 300k-400k and snipers stay around 500k. I feel bad for you guys cuz those prices are outrageous. Luckily on my server it seems as if the CGF focus mainly on teleporting and Spook as of now.

i hate cgf's on lakshmi Peacock charm is 15mil Scorpion Harness is near 8-9mil Ochido's kore or what ever they called near 1mil Snipper rings 1mil leaping boots 500k+ its getting stupid i wish all CGF's where dead!

Correction. 700k on Pandy now..100k in 5 days...wow, I wish my 401k would go up this quickly.
i finally earm 300k (after 15 min of lizzy camping) and i decided to sell shade equip well im get 365k as of now and they chnged from 380k to 400k
This son of a gun is up to over 600k on Lakshmi, not to say that Snipers are quickly approaching 800k a piece :S

If you're a DRK thinking about buying this, forget it. I bought mine at lv35 for 420k, gonna sell at 40 for a Sniper's Ring (600k last time I looked). DEX+3 is only 1.5 Accuracy points which is measly. Accuracy+5 on the Sniper's Ring is the equivelent of DEX+10. Farm/craft another 200k (or however much to get one) and get a Sniper's Ring. Especially if you're Elvaan...

mrmoo, i know exactly how you feel being on the cerberus server! The best thing to do is just camp the emperor during the week at odd times in the morning when most people who play would be at school (sneaky me!). If you get the hairpin and the leaping boots after a while of camping, you will receive riches later that will help you afford your upper level characters. Spend the time rather than the gil unless absolutely needed :)

Funny story...I was sitting in Jeuno, waiting for a PT, and my n00b friend needed help getting to Jeuno. Well me being the kind soul that I am, got a tele over to Holla and met him in the Dunes. Not to long after I arrived I see a PT of LS members leveling new jobs, so I go and PL them for a few minutes. My n00b friend gets mad and decided to run off. 2 minutes later he runs back to me... "Help" Thegoods is defeated by Valkurm Emperor...........Provoke! I get him just as the campers run up, takes me a few swings and he goes down easy, and I get the drop...This just goes to show you, if you're a kind person your deeds will be rewarded. And yes i did let my friend in on the money. jeez, why am I so nice?

if ur really desperate and have a rdm main job, do whjat i do, hit chainspell when u see it spawn, then hit use any spell macro, and spam like hell, hope fully u can grab it, b4 every1 else im currently 1/3 on this thing

I have a nin/war and rng/nin, this item would really be great! I was wondering where this thing actually spawns at? I've only seen it once and that was near siren sands beach. Please let me know, Thank you

I've had my eye set on this thing for the longest time, ever since i started lvling my sam. Im at 34 now, figured 400k was sufficient to get it. Go to jeuno, look it up and...whats this??? 500k!! it took me 3 weeks to get to lvl 34 and in that time its undergone 25% increase? gimme a break, i'd rather keep the gil and save for the kote than shell out that much (im on cerberus btw)

i am just wondering, but if you edited this on october 18, how is it possible to get emp hairpins today when there has been maintenance?
IS it possible that the edi tcould be for a typo or such error? God knows everyone's on the forums when service is down for maintenance.

woke up one morning and before going for some xp i asked my girlfriend (rl) lol if she wanted to go try and camp the emperor, she said ya so we log on and tele to holla. i had 62sam/31rng for widescan and she brought her thief ninja. we get there and suprisingly enough there was like no one there. heart starts racing a little bit, we killed dem flys for about 20 mins checking widescan every 30 seconds, next thing i know i see valkurm emperor on widescan, i yell upstairs got it come to me andstart running, now i can see it so i finally get up to it and hit attack, as it starts to fly away from me -_- i was like nooooo, so i hit ranged attack and i see valkurm emperor turn red, YES, so we kill it get the drop =), we both lot, i win the lot =) and she says can i have it? lol whats a guy suppose to do, so in the duration she loves her emperors hairpin and i havent managed to get the drop yet... i've enjoyed alot of peoples posts so i figured i would relay 1. I have camped the Valkurm Emperor for like 20+ hours. Each time I camped, it spawned between 4-5 hours. This was very frustrating. Then one day there was an emergency maintenance on Carbuncle server. I was leveling and cut the party short so I could camp VE after maintenance. I went to Jeuno, got my 47 BLM/RNG and went /anon. I looked for a Teleport-Holla but none at the time. Server was going down in 15 min. So I got my chocobo and made my way to Valkurm Dunes. I made it to the Highlands and I had to log because the server was going down in 1 minute. So I logged…
I logged back in right when the server had gone up. Made my way to the crag of Dem and got my chocobo. I hurried over to (E-8) and started to spam widescan. I scanned the are twice and it popped right in front of me and my bird. So I hit attack..scared someone was gonna voke (there was a bunch of campers already there) and claimed the ****. I whooped VE and got an... Insect wing! At that point I was 0/4 I believe.
After the fight I was just happy I didn't get jacked with provoke like I always do so I decided to camp the Golden Bat. I killed a few and no pop so I went back to VE spawn. I was surprised only 3 people there including myself. I felt like I had a good chance to fight it. I spammed widescan over and over. Then it POP's near the beach. I run over to VE and use Stun to claim it. I was </psyched>.. 2 pop's in one day. I didn't use any magic because I wanted to fight! Boti defeats Valkurm Emperor! I find another insect wing and I also find an Emperor Hairpin. No Treasure Hunter, and I kept the previous insect wing drop in my inventory(I have no idea if it helped me get the hairpin but I was superstitious atm). 1/5 on VE and I can care less about 400k..this drop is way worth more than that because it is the best headgear for my NIN and also THF.

I know someone that got the Emperor from Songokou and started fighting... and at about half way HP he disconnected. Then Songokou that !@#$ing douche bag took it for himself and got the drop. Everytime i got to camp this mob some RNG/THF named Songokou on the Bahamut Server steals the mob from me. I hate this guy already like selling 10 of these doesnt give someone enough gil. This guy is literaly there camping 24/7. no rest and he is not useing a bot cause he answers back everytime i tell him off. is doing what he does agains the rules of FFXI?

i get if from songokou all the time. its not hard, buts its about chance. He sits in the middle of the camp and just uses widescan + flee. if you just pick 1 camp spot and stick with it it will spawn. The problem is people get scared of songokou and then there are only 3 or 4 people there. he uses widescan + flee. so if you can't do thf/rng or rng/thf you better just hope it spawns on you. plus he is japanese and they get the .5 spawn on you so he'll know its up before you do and will be heading towards you.
