I'm 100+1 Bonecraft on the fenrir server.

I personally dont know the minimum level to get the HQ, but i get it a lot, its not difficult. Just buy the materials and keep crafting until you get it. Good luck.

The single most underrated item in the game. I'll take STR + DEX for my DRK & BST anyday over Ryl. Guards Collar. At 75 if you're having problems hitting with all the other Acc gear and foods, you are doing some very wrong.. Spike Necklace is good till 75 in my book, but most people look at how much it costs and figure its crap compared to peacock charm.. very false.

This thing just stays with melees till the mid 50s. Then you can finally switch over to Merman or R.K collar and get you MND back lol.

This is great for any melee job, even for Paladins. All they have to do is make their cure macro "Unequip" this before healing, then equip it back on afterward. It's a long process but it does work.
Or you could just be lazy and not use this. XD Justice badge always works too. :P

lol. i agree that it is an awesome item, but imho overrated once you hit mid 50's.
i mean, don't get me wrong, i'm all for Str(+)/Dex(+) but when i sub WHM (on my DRG) i don't want Mnd(-). plus at 56 the Coral/Merman's gorget is mega boss for melee.

Get all the ingredients, Go to Bonecrafter's guild, wait for a high level bonecrafter, and ask them in a polite manner if they can synthisize one for you. That's how I got mine. =)

Tip for Spiked necklace and any ohter item that takes away MND when your healing go to equiptment and simply take it off and your MND will go back to its normal stat then when your done healing put it back on and get ready for another fight. Because of corse why keep it on it will only take longer to heal.

I purchased this on Carbuncle and it ran me 9K, had it since 21 War and now 31 Dragoon and it has well made its worth to me. I have noticed or believe I do stay poisoned longer and due to the MND down magic does affect me a bit more. The item itself I would spend 10K all over again to get if needed.

i agree, A+ item, and yes you must get this if your any kind of melee character, except maybe paladin... this is very useful for my dragoon with the +3 dex, and of course you can never have too much str.

Hehe, this isnt the BEST item you can get for melee and definatly not SAM :P the Peacock's Charm is but since thats like 8mil on my server now, this is the 2nd best choice ^.^ Oh and this is definatly not for PLD, PLDs need the MND for curing. This is a very nice and cheap piece of neckware though :D
I actually like this for PLD. A few points more per cure is no biggie (havent recorded any data on the effect it has on cures). In early levels this necklace can help u not hit for 0, which would totally screw up your hate management.

hate to say this, but if you want HQ items you do not have to synth only on full moon. granted you have about an extra 2%(from personal experiance) of HQ chance on a full moon, but hey 2% is all that is needed at times.

does anyone know if the recipe is the same for this as the Fang Necklace? and does anyone know the minimum bonecrafter lvl needed to be able to make these? i can make Fang's rather easily, but if i can i wanna make a Spike Necklace for when my SAM hits lvl 21.

I happen to know a JP bonecrafter. shell shields are just used with lightning crys to get materials.
Also, the spike IS the high quality. Fang IS the usual result, its a fairly low-lvl synth, but it requires:
EarthCry+grass thread+2bone chip+black tiger fang+4bat fangs

I saw a player craft about a dozen of them. He was Japanese so I couldn't communicate with him but one of the ingredient is Shell Shield. I know because he bought 10 of them off of me before he started crafting. Afterward, he sold his Spike Necklaces for 7K each. I wonder what the profit margin is?

I'm not sure but I think it's crafted, where fang necklace is the typical result, and spiked necklace is the +1 variety, but I could be wrong.
I know you wrote this back in December and you and the rest know the answer to this but yes this is HQ for the Fang Necklace. A friend on my LS has made one or 2 in the past 2 weeks. See you on the server everyone.
