Synthing gorgets is a massive loss.

2 silver ingots > 1 chain
3 chain > 1 gorget.

That's 6 ingots to make one chain, plus 4 earth crystals. On Siren, that's 18K for one of these babies, and IF you're lucky, you can sell them for 1/3rd of that at the jeuno AH, or over the course of 2-3 weeks by bazaaring them outside the goldsmithing guild in bastok.

The good news is they desynth fairly well if you choose the right conditions (darksday, good moon, with support).

Lightning crystal + chain gorget:

NQ: 3 silver ingots (50% recovery of materials)
HQ1: 4 silver ingots
HQ2: 5 silver ingots
HQ3: 6 silver ingots (full recovery of materials)

I synthed chain to gorgets to skill up gsmithing, then wound up burning down the whole lot with a stack of lightning crystals an reclaiming the materials for future skillup sessions. It's a real fast way to tear through cash, but it's relatively inexpensive as far as goldsmithing skillup goes.
