I've been able to desynth these while making them to get some return on materials to keep skillups flowing. They come in the following from what I see:

They tell you that, but the NPCs wouldn't know a hand-made rabbit mantle from one manufactured in a sweatshop for Old Navy. Just get it from a merchant or the AH if you want.
I have a 25 blm and farming the rabbit hides to make these is so easy in palborough mines. the rabbits in there link. just give a quick run through the mines and u should have about 15-20 rabbits after you. one waterga or aeroga spell and there all dead ( depending on ur int ^_^ ) this works well if u wanna round up some hare meat too :)
Get your skill higher than 0 before you start synthing. You should never try to make something more than 5 levels above your skill level. For best results you should only got 2-3 above your skill level though.

A good startgy for the Rabbit Mantle is when your in Sandy get one of your low levek jobs and kill Wild Rabbits and Forest Hares for exp and hides, then buy a stack of Grass Threads for like 1200 for 12 and make Mantles, you'll fail sometime but if you make a total of four mantles and sell them all for 300gil you break even for cash, have good exp, and possiby some points in leathercraft

The trivial (the level after which you won't get anymore skillups) on this recipe is 7. I recommend raising your skill to 2 first by making Sheep Leather, then trying Rabbit Mantles again with advanced support (adds 4 or so to your effective level) from the guild.
