Zinc Ore I have mined and mined and have only gotten roughly a total of 30 Zinc Ores in a span of 2 weeks real time. I've killed about 50-60 worms and only got 10 from them. I've also traded about 100 Yagudo Bead Necklaces. My Norg fame is still at Lv.3 but the Rice Balls at the Tenshodo HQ are selling for about 158 gil. I am really trying to get Utsusemi because it seems like every time i'm in a party or am asked to be in a party and i notify the party leader that I don't have Utsusemi, everything goes wrong and they start complaining about me not having Utsusemi, although I warned them.
Now, right to the point. Anybody on the Ifrit server want to help a striving NIN out and give me about 8-16 Zinc Ores to help with my fame? I'd be in your debt.

hi~ i am rite beside the goldsmith guild right now and they are letting me buy zinc ores for 525 gils. its lightsday too...so now we kno it's not only on darkday when they sell it. hehe.

Not many items cost more then 700k except refresh body armors and Kracken clubs.. which are 1 Mil- 10 mil.
The ores I bought at bastok were only 100 gil..... The new venture roll game netted me 80k a day....... PLayed 2 days and got 160k from the damn game I only had 3k in my pocket!! making moneys easy in seraph and Buying stuff is dirt cheap..

Ummm.. Zinc Ore can also be found in East and West Ronfaure and King Ranperre's Tomb off of Carrion Worms
trying to lvl goldsmithing so i can make bullets and cant find this anywhere... i guess ill hafto go mine it o well

Anyone know which worms have the best drop rate for zinc?
Apparently, the yagudo bead quest to raise norg fame is not as effective as the zinc quest. In order to get Utsu: Ichi, I turned in 100 zinc ores, or did the q 25 times. I have heard that to do this using the yag bead quest can take as much as twice the amount of turn-ins.
But then again, yag necklaces are as easy to find as necklaces the day after mardi gras.
Wanna make a quick buck? Go to Zeruhn Mines with some pickaxes and mine the stuff. Its a common drop there and people pay silly prices for em in Bastok ^_^

I have also heard this as correct. My only problem is i turned in over 100 Zinc Ore and my rice ball price is 160! Well I guess I'll turn in more ><

If you are doing the zinc for Tenshodo fame, you start with one piece, for a quest in the basement of warehouse #2 in Port Bastok (across from air terminal). After CS, guard will take 4 pieces at a time. Mine zinc in Dangruf Wadi in the worm room (2d room to the left as you enter). Go with level 17 or so thief (or higher). In addition to the zinc, the worms drop flintstones (Bastok quest and GS lvl 2 item), hermit rings (5k or more), and sulfur (last I saw, around 8k the stack at AH). In addition, the usual from the gobs (wild onion, cotton thread, yew fishing rod or clothespole, occasional fast water rod). On the way to or from, get beehive chips, honey, crab meat in the Fumeroles, and always a chance to get yourself a pair of Bouncing Boots (or whatever they are now called; that's how I got my Leaping Boots a long time ago...).

I've found it very beneficial to hunt this item in King Ranp's tomb because the drop rate is decent, you can also get chest key, ascetic's ring, and check on ghost/spook/gruel all at the same time. And a stacks of flint stones add up rather quickly ;)

Ok on Hades this cost 2k each so 8k per turn in. yag beads are only 1k each. so 4k a turn in. I will go on the cheaper one.

Even though this post is pretty old, I wanted to note that it takes about twice as many turn-ins (maybe even more) to get enough fame using the Yag Necklace quest. Thus these are still better.
On Pandy they're 1-2k each for zinc ore.

Purchase at Goldsmiting Guild in Bastok on Darksday, sells for about 243 G each with Hero Fame. Get there early cuz they sell pretty quickly.

On Midgardsormr, the Zinc Ore on Darksday sells out on an average of 8 seconds...I was hoping to stock up my inventory on Zinc Ore when alluva sudden it seems to be sold out...after "2" purchases, my face looked something like

The Mhaura goldsmith guild does sell zinc ore. I'm not sure if they do every day or jsut once in a while like in Bastok. I've only stopped in the guild there once, but that one time i stopped they did have zinc ore and i bought some. I think it sold for about 250, not sure on that as it has been about a month since I was there.

i dug up about 10 of these with about 3 stacks of greens in buburimoo peninsula. a stack of greens costs about 150 gil more than a singl zinc ore on the auction. not bad ;)

The way the Guild shops work is simple. They have a set amount of inventory. Each day it restocks a set number of items. In the cooking guild for example, it restocks 12 Mhara Garlic each day before it opens. That is why you see people crowding the guild early in the morning. Once it is sold out, it's sold out. People can sell stuff to the guild and it will immediately become available.

goldsmith has nothing to do with mining it and in zerhun you will find alot of zince and iron ore,even tho copper and pebels are suppsodly the most common there not,i find arouind 13zinc ore and 12iron ore with 12 pickaxes

Haha.. i can always get zinc. I WANT THE DAMN COPPER!
...Right... copper... I'll just ignore the fact that you can buy them for 4g each at the Goldsmith's Guild ALL THE TIME. Since once I bought a pickaxe at 120g, i'd say you could get about 30 this way other than like ... 4 (Don't yell at me o^_^o) by mining them- you choose.

Zinc ore is fairly easy to obtain while mining in the Zeruhn Mines. If you're looking to make a profit, they sell nicely at the AH for about 400 gil.
zinc is a corner stone to make brass, getting the copper is easy, you can actually buy this from vendors, but i have yet to see a vendor sell zinc. there has got to be an easeir way to make brass, other wise they would be worth allot more.

the worms in the zeruhn mines drop it alot. i just kill them for fun and get zinc ores, how nice. usually come out in about 10minutes with about 4-5 zinc

Once in a blue moon the worms will drop silver ore too. It's not considered a rare item, but it is a rare drop for them.

I've seen this happen, but it went to someone who was in the party for a few minutes. Didn't really matter, it's worth about as much as zinc sometimes.

who drops zinc ore?
Almost all the worm creatures (Tunnel Worms, Stone Eaters, Rock Eaters, Dirt Eaters, Land Worms, Maze Makers, etc.) will drop these, but Zinc Ore is rathar uncommon compared to Copper Ore & Flint.
