Just got this last night. Have yet to try it in exp but it looks **** at least. ;)

The quest was easy, I went on PLD and equipped the gear and then traded in the subligar for this gi.

I've had this thing for a long time, ever since I got into Phomuina Aqueducts mid summer. Brygid asked me to wear a Silver Mail and some Cuir Trousers before she sent me off to seek out old, white underwear. The Fomor that drops the subligar for this is where Eba now pops in the D/E 11 and 12 area, so be careful when pulling, although they won't link when they're not in a party (and they're not), Eba tends to wander dangerously close to the entrances of both tunnels connecting to the room. I think I've seen the Fomor Nina pop in the C-9 area too, in place of the Fomor Dark Knight occasionally. This is one of the easier JSE peices to get.

As for this Gi itself, the stats speak for it. +4 AGI gives more eva, parry chance, and Ranged Accuracy for those who use shuriken. The enmity+1 is a huge bonus.

considering this piece of body equipment will provide effectively +2 to parry checks and +2 evasion and enmity i think its better than a shinobi gi +1 easily has ~the same def and 1 less evasion Shinobi Gi+1 has 3 eva and will set you back a nice 1.2mil+ on Fairy and @ 50 1.2mil is gonna buy u enuf tools for a good run without refil especially since the toolbags came out just spend an absolute fortune on a stack of shihei toolbags and your Elemental tools too and your good for a lot of levels so save your millions if u got it and buy something better :P this is free get off your butts and get it!

#creonarcais, Posted: Apr 13 2005 at 2:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ninja wasn't made to tank but nearly all melee jobs have Enmity+ gear and Mages Enmity-. This was made to save Mages. If you take a look at THF AF even it has Enmity+. Its a safe gaurd in case the tank would go down. Next to go would be the healer or BLM without melee having Enmity+

ACTUALLY the purpose behind the THF AF2 enmity+ is because it transfers when you use SATA. Thats just 12 more enmity planted on to <insert person here>.

S-E has said that they like the way we use Ninjas to tank, why do you think ninjas get tons of evasion, parrying, and emnity gear? just because paladin and warrior get added emnity doesnt mean Ninja cant too.

What some of you fail to realize is the original intent of the ninja is not important. The intent of it now, is. And, as long as players continue to play as a tank, Ninja will remain a tank.

And on that note, I'd like to remind the ninja commmunity that its the responsability of every ninja level 60+ to notify the baby ninjas on the correct tanking procedure. There are too many sh*t ninjas out there, and someone needs to police them all up.

They may have never intended for NINs to tank but they sure give them plenty of options to do it with. Just look at the Arhat set, enmity+ across the board. You really think they meant that enmity for SAMs or MNKs? doubt it

SE said they didn't intend for Ninja to be a tanking job. However, they have embraced it as one and are now adding in more and more items that improve the viability of the Ninja tank. It's not hypocritical to say "We never thought of that, but since it works so well..."

+ Emnity on Melees could have been invented as a catch to save Mages!

Think about it. If 1 pld has the most hate, and the Blm has the second, pld goes down, blm goes down. With out the Emnity on the Samns and Mnks and Wars, they have no luck pulling it off of them.

I always thought of it as an excuse to sub THF...doesn't TA transfer your hate onto the dude in front of you? (I think this is common knowledge, but my THF is 15 and staying there for a long time) That way, especially as a SAM/THF, you could SaTa a WS and help the tank hold even more hate...But as a mage, I think i like your version better ^^

Actually, I'm pretty sure that SE wanted Samurai to tank. I mean, they can equip virtually any shield and chain armor sets. Only problem is that they work best with Great Katanas and bows, as well as a lot of the Eastern gear (esp. Jujitsu Gi), so this has never really been practical.

yes SAMs where intended to tank and prior to Rise of the Zilart Monks where Tanks.

Most people dont take the time to learn these things though which is why people trash war and mnk when many people took them to 75 as TANKING jobs when Rise came out.

Too many rumors...
Utsusemi was only changed so that it effects /nin not nin/ unless nin/ has a very low skill then more shadows will be taken of course just as the /nin.

Im sure SE knew what they were doing when they gave nin an A in evade, parry, and high vit (my vit is 2below a pld of the same calibur and higher than war) so im sure this peice of armor helps clarify some issues and debates.

Time to log in and get this badboy :D

SE suck ***. first they make a job and dont intend it for tanking then we the players adapt the playing stle of the job so we can use it as a tank if needed. why wont SE make something then just let it be to evolve little by little. (NIN are good DD if they spend cash on items like surukin)

Juji Shuriken are the only ones that remain viable... some of the later ones are quite rare and go for upwards of 50K a stack. Considering the expense of ninja tools already, most NIN will draw the line at paying 500 Gil a throw just to see the following line in the log window:

"Ninja uses ranged attack, but unfortunately, Ninja is not a Ranger and has hopelessly gimp ranged accuracy."

Hmmm.....never knew NINJA had gimped ranged accuracy...most likely because we dont. NINJA ranged accuracy is on par with RANGER and only loses in terms of job abilities that highten them such as sharpshot and barrage. A NIN/RNG can be a power house, but like you said, I wouldn't spend the gil needed.

The AF does give it a much-needed boost, but only to a semi-useful level at night, when stacked with ranged accuracy rings. Compared to ninja, ranger has several levels of accuracy bonus trait, a ranger-only neck item that increases their ranged accuracy early on, and sharpshot. The only thing ninja has to lend it ranged accuracy is an A- throwing skill and a couple of AF items.

Every job that isn't RNG main or sub has gimp ranged accuracy, it's a fact which I have yet to see disproven :/ Non-RNG jobs don't bother with ranged weapons because they can't hit enough to make it worthwhile, not because their ranged hits don't do as much damage. If that is wrong, then why do I see no-one subbing RNG or using ranged attacks without the RNG sub?

I have tried full ranged accuracy setup (although to be honest I can't afford a peacock charm) with capped throwing skill but without the RNG sub I still miss as if my eyelids were sewn shut on IT mobs. Even with every peice of ranged accuracy equipment bar p.charm and where I couldn't get that I had +AGI, missfest on IT. NIN do pretty well for ranged accuracy, but RNG is still the only job that gets enough to be useful. My throwing skill has fallen about 15 levels below cap now because I just can't hit exp mobs ><

If good shuriken were at the same cost as arrows or maybe bullets/silver bullets and NIN could get throwing WS (/em prays) then subbing ranger would be worth it (although still really expensive -.-).

On a side note, the only job I've seen that can sub RNG and be useful is SAM/RNG. I know 2 or 3 with the very best equipment gil can buy and they do pretty well, I have to admit. They're a rare breed though...

Okay, let me get this straight.

SE changes how Utsustmi works because they said they never intended for NINs to be tanks. (Yes, I know, they didn't affect it that much)

But now they release an item that has Enmity +1, perfect for Tanking.

Would SE decided if NIN should or should not tank.....

No this is simply untrue, SE has gone on record saying they didn't see NIN as a tank but think it's a good idea, and have added a LOT of gear to facilitate nin tanking.

Shadow Emnity loss is purely to make kiting more difficult

Who cares what they intended it to be... I doubt they intended NIN to be such an effective support job for RNG and WAR either. Guess who decided that? Yup, us players.

The change to utsusemi hurt NIN main much less than NIN sub. AoE spells have always killed all shadows, after the change they made AoE physical attacks make an evasion/parry/skill(?) check on each shadow. Hence NIN main commonly loses 1-3 shadows to AoE pyhsical, and NIN sub will almost always lose all 3.

Most lv75 NIN I have talked to agree that it was a necessary change.

I don't believe Square Enix intended for *any* advanced jobs to be used as subjobs.

Although great spells like Utsusemi: Ni for NIN and Stun for DRK happen to land at exactly 37...
