The quest is quite easy. just really time consuming.

You have to walk a lot, but other than that not hard.

Eastern Gems go for about 5k on Odin if you don't feel like buying them.

Easily Solo able at lvl 60 but did it with my friend for the company on the trip^^. I like the story for the quest too.

Anyone know if the game will let you start the quest for Venerer Ring if you have already bought one, since they are RARE?

You shouldn't have a problem starting the quest, but will have to remove the ring from your inventory before you complete it. You can send it to yourself through the delivery box to get around this restriction. (though you won't be able to remove it until you do something with your new ring)

Nope. For future questions Rare = Can only hold one, however you can put multi on AH/in Delivery Box and have one in inventory/MH.

I seriously don't see why someone would go out of their way and buy snips now. Venerer+Bowyer together cost about 350k compared to 1.7mil for two snips(shiva server). So some people would pay 1.35mil more for 4 acc... that is insane, it MIGHT have been worth it pre-patch...but post-patch it seems kinda dumb to waste the gil IMO. With the gil saved, you can aim for a hauby or buy foods. I suggest saving yourself the trouble and gil and use that gil to buy yourself a hauby or other expensive gear.

edit: >.> Looks like I miss-read bowyer rings, which only give ranged acc and atk not regular acc >.>

So it would still be worth it to get at least one snip.

I noticed that ring earlyer today and decided to quest it. Took me a while (I walked and Bloodported and farmed the 5 Eastern Gems...) but finally got it.

I currently own a Sniper Ring and a Jaeger Ring (see battle equipement below), Snipers are 1.8M atm (stupid suran inflation ><) and Venerer is 400k. Now for the question: should I sell the Venerer and make myself a nice 400k or keep it and make myself 1.8M? I can buy alot with 1.8M, but loosing 2 Acc and 5 Racc...

Ill keep both for now and see how well I hit with Venerer/Jaeger and then decide what I shall do with my tests and your thoughts on the subject.

Saved for this and a Loyalty Ring for my BST over the last month, and have finally managed to obtain both.

The price on this currently fluctuates between 120-140k on Midgard, and there are a lot up for auction at the Jeuno AH.

Definitely a good investment - should serve for many many levels.

hadn't quested, straight bought mine from the AH -which was (at the time) 140k, i believe, on Cerberus. given the buff in comparision to the Archers Ring i went Ven. almost every basher that can afford it has jumped on that bandwagon now, save that of Rng. good investment, hands down.

55th Sam now and i still have it equiped, paired with a Snipers. RG Collar and Life Belt are a staple and well. when i'm still not hitting enough -making my Ochi Kote a tad pointless. no hit, no damage, no tp- i switch to RK Gaunts which gives me a +25 Acc total. and yet sometimes... that... still... aint... enough. (even under j-lantern food n' the like. >.<!)

i was a firm believer in the 2dex=1acc ratio, or rather the reverse of that... 1acc must equal +2dex for striking. but recently i've had my strong doubts. just with gear alone that would have me at an "assumed" +50 dex equalling a phantom 101 Dex as 55th Elvaan Sam. and yet, i miss.. and FAR more than one should with a buff like that.

i'm going to rethink my gearing strat and buff a bit more dex, perhaps keeping RG Collar and Snipers and using +3 dex ring and RK belt in lieu of previous items. OBVIOUSLY (to me) my heavy-ending Acc has not proven worth the cost.

but i digress... muchly. ^^!

for the level at which it is available, Venerer's Ring is a definate bonus to anyone who melees. Accuracy is an edge in combat, not the end-all-be-all to success in battle.

Something odd I noticed while skilling up the other day. I was fighting beetles in Quicksands for skillups for my GSword. They were usually DC with high def, but normal evade. My hit rate was probably around 90% or better, certainly at least 80%. When I went to Beadeaux to fight the top-tier quadavs there for skillups, though, I rarely hit them, even though they checked as VT with either low or normal evasion. I think my hit rate was around 50%-60%. They apparently have the same Evasion, so my Accuracy wasn't the only thing affecting how often I hit.

Of course, that's just my observation, and some more concrete tests are needed. But it seems to me that your Accuracy isn't the only thing affecting your hit percentage. I'm thinking that your DEX does more than just improve Accuracy; it also improves your chance to hit directly, similar to how STR improves Attack but also directly enhances damage dealt.

I have heard that some things are highly affected by level of the mob. Kind of like a Beastmaster's charm time. No matter how much charisma you have, a IT will only last 5 seconds max Without AF. Similar theory here. Some BlM said that he leveled up, and none of his important stats changed except HP and MP, yet his nukes did more damage.

BLMs have a job trait called "Magic Attack Bonus". This could be what caused the difference.

there isnt really any proof that 2 dex = +1acc ... it might be different, it could be 3dex = 1acc or a wierd equation like (2dex+1) level = .4834 acc. If you could show me a Square Enix approved dex/acc calculation, then ill accept it. I do believe that a certain amount of dex does give a certain amount of acc.

This is true, and it's really easy to prove. Equip +ACC gear slowly until the mob's EVA cons up a notch. Remove the least +ACC gear, equip DEX gear, and see how many points of DEX it takes to get to the same amount of ACC.

I've tried it. If the formula isn't 2/1, it's close enough as makes no difference.

god i hate it when ppl just say 2 dex = 1 acc, dex does more then just give acc, dex also increases your critical hit rating which acc does not, so more dex = more critical hits, so stop spitting on dex, acc is nice but dex helps alot too
RE: setting ppl straight
# Jan 17 2005 at 10:43 PM Rating: Default
this is my oppinion about dex verses acc...

1) there isnt really any proof that 2 dex = +1acc ... it might be different, it could be 3dex = 1acc or a wierd equation like (2dex+1) level = .4834 acc. If you could show me a Square Enix approved dex/acc calculation, then ill accept it. I do believe that a certain amount of dex does give a certain amount of acc.
2) Thiefs SA does improve the higher the Dex is ( TA also after assassin job trait is gained at Lv60 )
3) dex does improve crit rate %
4) Even if 2 dex = +1 acc ... unless your a thief, i dont see a point to having a dex ring over an acc ring at this current level. lets see... at Lv 34... what could u use:
Venerer Ring: +3 acc
Deft Ring: +3 dex
as a dmg dealer, the more often you hit, the more over all dmg you do, especially if u have long delay weapons. Sure critting is nice but getting an extra crit a battle here and there does not make up for missing completely more often (unless maybe your a thief with a low dmg low delay weapon) So inorder to get the +3 acc from dex... you would need a +6 dex ring... of course, there currently isnt a +6 dex ring at Lv34.
(and even if you are a thief, If you had the gil to spare, an optimized thief would still use +acc gear and switch out for dex/agi gear when doing SATA)
p.s. Im not saying dex sux, just saying i would rather use +3 acc over +3 dex ring - unless of course I was using SA or TA.

Here you go:
January 2004 Interview with Square Enix
What is the relationship between DEX and Accuracy? For example, does
each point of DEX equal 1 point of Accuracy? Or is there some other
relationship?

Accuracy does rely on DEX. However, their values are not equivalent. It is
more useful to raise your accuracy percentage by raising it directly than
raising Accuracy by raising DEX.

These rings are acctually very good from what ive heard I'm 39 with my drg almost 40 and have 1 sniper ring (only cost me 495k on siren ^^) and I'm going to go quest for one of these till I can get enough gil for another sniper ring.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 06 2005 at 2:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) How in the hell can u afford to pay for a questable ring? Do you buy gil? If so, "I hate you". its ppl the sell gil that only sell it because ppl are willing to buy it. if you stopped buying gill the price of items would drop and settle dramatically. I am just a poor guy playing a game, and hearing ***** that "oh damn, i gotta buy another billion gil because I just got some item", makes me wanna puke. Heh, "puke". That's a funny word.
RE: how in the hell?
# Feb 05 2005 at 7:24 AM Rating: Good
Um... 140k really isn't that hard to make if you actually take the time to farm. Just because you can't afford something right now is no excuse to call those that can buy it gil-sellers. That, in my opinion, is an accusation that is thrown around far too much. I have one that I bought because I could not quest it. I have been unable to get a party together to do Promvions as of yet.

Oh, and by the way, the really expensive stuff:(ie: Peacock Charm, Emperor's Hairpin, Leaping Boots, Haubergeon, Sniper's Rings, etc.) are not quested, they are either crafted (often form an NM drop) or are an NM drop.
Quested items are usually fairly cheap in comparison because getting them does not involve sitting in an area for hours on end waiting for a mob to spawn and then having a botting gil-seller get it before you.

Haph... you clearly have no concept of how to make money on this game if you think 140k or so is completely unattainable w/o buying gil. I don't even kill NM's and I own this and the Valkyrie's Mask among other things.

Diabolos:

Venerer: theres been a lot on the AH lately, people must be catching up with the quest. Got it for 140k.
Sniper: A very steady 530-550k. Yeah... that's not gonna happen any time soon and I can sell it later.

I do like having no DEF penalty though, seeing as I'm often the first voke to set up SATA on the tank. Even with Defender on occasionally, those can be tense moments for me.

RE: why
# Jan 03 2005 at 2:49 AM Rating: Decent
+3 to accuracy is a lot of accuracy at this level (unless you are insanely rich and have a peacock charm). i'm a level 40 sam and i use this ring in combo with federation tekko (working on getting a jujitsu gi). I miss a lot less than people with just deft rings. My LS buddies have told me that 2 dex = 1 accuracy point, so this is a lot better than dex bonus. FYI this is only for melee accuracy

RE: why
# Jan 02 2005 at 5:14 AM Rating: Default
This ring is good for a few reasons:

1. +3 ACC for a ring, at this level, is pretty darn good. Your next few options are going to be Snipers. But, those are not questable, they are higher level, and they have -10 DEF. Many jobs outside of DD that never get hit during the course of a party may find that ok, but, for some folks -10 DEF is life or death.

2. If you do your PM's you can quest it and not pay for it. Furthermore, you won't be supporting a gil farmer that camps Chymes 24/7/365.
RE: why
# Dec 31 2004 at 11:31 PM Rating: Default
Its +3 Accuracy. Compared to other items at its level that don't lower something else this is a very good item. Also, the only other ring that does this and is close in level costs you an arm a leg and quite possibly your soul.

[edit::: whoops, added ranged acc. for some reason. Took it out.]
