With 66+5 Dexterity on Colibris, using this G.Axe (unlocked, of course), with full Critical hit merits, and a Critical hit+3% strap, (+13% critical hit rate), I parsed a 21.6% critical hit rate, and 2% total damage below my Byakko's/Berserkers Axe. I say Byakko's/Berserkers because there's no clear winner when parsing the two of those. Somedays one of them's one percent higher, the next day it's one percent lower.

Now, two percent isn't much. If the virtual wind was blowing east instead of west that day, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rampager came out on top. I'm not saying get this and omit getting a Byakko's Axe or Berserker's Axe, because this G.Axe (Rampager) wouldn't be too good against big things with lots of defense. However, against Hydra, it might be a neat thing to pull out.

Something else interesting to note; It's believed that one Dexterity equates to +.125% critical hit increase, and if you add up all my Dex, and my Critical Hit+, it should give me 21.875% critical hit rate, which is really really close to 21.6, and since the parser I use only gives the tenths of percentiles, it wouldn't be too farfetched that I ended up parsing something like 21.68, or .69. So, I would say it's a safe bet that: One Dexterity = +.125% critical hit increase.

So unlocked it has +6%crit, with full merits another +4%, and claymore grip +3%.
I was in a merit PT with a COR using Rogue's Roll (upping ur crit%).
All I can say was that I was criting enough to rip hate from the other melees. My DoT with haste gear and haste was crazy, and I also did 1.4ksh Raging Rushes (only three times though). Average was around 800-1.1k Raging Rushes.

I was {ninja} skilling up my GA skill which was 240sh.
(yay 2hand update, dex accuracy bonus is overpowered).
lol.

If you have it, why not unlock it while helping with test or lvling NPC and stuff? I have Byakko's Axe and would still use this baby over it during merits.

btw to unlock it you need to do 500 weaponskills with it on easy pey or above, but unlike weapons from weapon skill trials, making skill chains does not give more points.

points
# Mar 03 2006 at 2:44 PM Rating: Decent
this is not the ws gaxe

every weapon has a 72+ latent effect certain dmg and cricital hit rate +6%

these weapons to break the effect you need to 500 ws with it..

unlike the WS quest axe of trials that has a point system these do not every WS counts as 1 point nomatter if your in a sc or not.

seems nice btw increase hit rate + merit in crital will make this weapon nice
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 08 2005 at 8:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its probably activated by your subjob like the trimmers earring and killer earring

Does anyone know if you have to get all of these WS points in one sitting? And if so, without changing areas, similar to the DRK quest with the GS?

You don't have to get them in one sitting.

And I think you've been mislead about the drk quests. Neither of them require one sitting or restriction to a single zone.

All of this is correct, its taken me well over 2 months to open DRK, killing stuff every so often when I didn't have something going on.

To permanently unlock the latent effect you must obtain 500WS GAxe points with this weapon. Changing GAxes before completing the 500 points will not restart the count.

All points are obtained through fighting Easy Prey or harder monsters.

You get 1 point for each ws.

The only way of knowing if you have unlocked this weapon is if you were counting your points for every chain, or you are able to notice a large difference in your dmg. There is no point counter you can menu to and see that will tell you how many points you have to go.

Latent Effect
# Apr 06 2005 at 2:29 PM Rating: Default
Here's how it works - similarly to the trial weapons you have to do 500 points worth of weaponskills (or 300, not sure) by the same point notation as the trial weapons. Then the latent works.

On the trial weapons the latent worked UNTIL you had gotten the points. As in the text would read: "Latent activates when weapon has been used in 299 or lower points worth of weapon skills on easy prey or higher." And no.. you don't have to requip it for this to work, which is a common misconception.
I don't think so

I think you have this confused with the trials weapons used to unlock the final WS's for each weapon type (Savage Blade for sword etc.). You have to participate in 300pts worth of SCs to remove the latent then fight an NM to get your Weapon Skill.

Pretty sure the latent on this won't disappear and why would you want it to?
Removing the Latent
# Feb 01 2005 at 12:37 PM Rating: Default
I am told that all these Rare/ex Weapons to remove the Latent Effect u do 500 WS on EP - IT mobs im am testing this theory now
RE: Removing the Latent
# May 03 2005 at 6:01 AM Rating: Excellent
the "Latent Effect" is not removed, but activated. After getting th 500 pts it will become the base dmg for the weapon.
RE: Removing the Latent
# Feb 10 2005 at 5:54 AM Rating: Decent
according to multiple posters in the main forum, this is correct. the latent effect is removed by doing 500 WS on EP mobs. this is similar to the trial weapons.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 04 2005 at 5:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) im pretty sure it activates when you berserk or last resort, the name `rampager` comes from ``rampage`` that is when you are in full... killing action... or is it after u kill 5 mobs in a row? lol

once again someone talking out theyre *** about somthing they have no idea about.... and normaly im not that mean but god u didnt even try and think before opening ur mouth. this matches all the other weapons of the lvl and type so im assuming it is the same, 500 ws unlocks the latent, once of the nicest G axe ive seen
RE: hmm
# Jan 06 2005 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent

This would make perfect sense if it was

Critical Hit : + 6%
Latent Effect: DMG 87

For some reason, I dont think the Critical Hit percent chance would be activated during a Critical hit.

Is it?

I got this from the BCNM the other day and so far havn't had any luck finding out what triggers the latent effect, even yellow/red HP doesnt trigger it nor does berserk/aggressor/warcry or anything else i could think of so i have no clue. If anyone does find out i would like to know though. I just cant see why SE would put these kind of weapons in a BCNM if they were total crap.

I wouldn't expect any War or Drk specific abilities to activate the Latent Effect, since there are many more rare/ex weapons of the same ilk dropped from this BCNM. i.e. latent effect +crit% and increased atk.

Let's just assume this is another yellow hp activation and deligate it to farming only.
bezerk or last resort

hmm maybe beserk or last resort? I mean they both kinda mean "go crazy with rage" or tothe same effect.

Nope, this is a "Great Axe" weapon. "Rampage' is an "Axe" weapon skill.

A possible latent effect could be it activates when you use berserk. Of course, this is just speculation.
RE: A Guess
# Jan 02 2005 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
I was thinking maybe its latent effect is activated by a 2 hr. or maybe a combination of a 2hr and another JA. try a couple different combinations and see if you have any luck.
RE: A Guess
# Jan 02 2005 at 10:36 PM Rating: Excellent
Having this activate with a WAR 2HR would be a little silly...they already get +100% to Criticals while using Mighty Strikes.
