These are the only H2H weapons that MNK can use which have Slashing damage instead of Blunt Damage.

Unfortunately, WS's have their own special properties that don't care about what DMG property the weapon that you use has. That means that Asuran Fists, a blunt WS, will deal Blunt Damage even if you have these Slashing Claws equipped.

What it boils down to is that on blunt-resistant mobs such as Slimes and the like, use these but save TP for a blunt-neutral or blunt-weak target. (Hehe, I wonder if the Slimes figured out that too much blunt will make you resistant.) :P

Hopefully this clears up the reason why even 75MNK's might want a pair of these around "just in case". (For example, in the Limbus zone SW Apollyon, on the first floor.)

EDIT: Supposedly, Custodes also now deal Slashing damage.

All of the stats on this were missing, so I added that in as well as the icon.

I just tested them and they seem to do slashing dmg. When fighting birds and mandragoras, they didn't get the extra dmg boost a piercing weapond would get. I also tested them on skeletons and hounds in Gusgen mines. Skeletons had a ~12.5% dmg penalty and hounds a ~12.5% dmg bonus.

slashing dmg is not piercing dmg.. such as rng's drg's which do piercing dmg.
nin's and sams put out slashing dmg... so to say that it didnt do piercing dmg would be correct sense it is not the same thing. so remember the 3 types.
slashing ... piercing... and blunt... take care !!
HP Drain and INT

I got these last night on my Thief. I was draining a lot on both Ice and Lightening days. Thief/Ninja has good Intelligence so it may help increase the effect. May be best on a Thief or Ninja main with a Monk sub for the Martial Arts trait. As Thief/Ninja I was doing around 380 with a Sneak Attack powered Backhand Blow on DC Tauruses. I'd say it drained on the same Tauruses about 1/5-8 blows for 17-22 HP back to me on each hit. Damage ranged from 22 to 58 criticals on each hit.

This weapon is actually the only H2H weapon with piercing damage.

I've also noticed increased damage against Jellies.

Cross-Counters: 20-30 damage on average (I hate jellies)...
Vampiric Claws: 35-55 damage on average
Bleh.

Yeah, I have this weapon ;\ it kinda sux. The drain kicks in about 1/10 and doesn't drain very much at all. Usually about 10-20HP. That was at level 40. Maybe it drains more as you level ;\

These claws seem to have a hidden effect against leeches (hecteyes too?). I don't know what else it affects, but:

Indra Katars dmg to Poison Leech: 80-100
Vamp Claws dmg to Leech: 100-120

I'll have to test them some more on other things to know for sure.

I got these claws on my linkshell's first exploration into the 'ducts. The additional effect is pretty random but on Darksday I really tear it up.

The NM is pretty boss. His pet is a taru fomor BLM and it's pretty funny, me and the RDM took care of it while the ninja tanked Tres Duendes. Tres has a huge HP Drain attack but the ninja tanked like a pro. He dropped Chiroptera Dagger, The double attack katana and the vampiric claws. We have a lot of fun in there and we kill it whenever we get a chance. Love the Aqueducts.

I'm willing to bet that like all the cool h2h weapons with additional effects, MNK won't be able to use these at all. :(

Quick question, is this limited to ONLY Monk, or is this also a THF weapon? Seems like this would be a decent solo weapon if your out to smack lotsa little things. [Like Sylvestre or Sheep]

I'm really bad in Japanese so someone really has to fill us up on the jobs =)
All I can say for sure that it's not a monk only weapon.
I'm pretty sure that Thieves can use this weapon too though.

Usable by warrior, monk, red mage, thief, dark knight, beast master, ninja.

The damage and delay aren't so bad for that level, but there is no accuracy or other stat bonus.

Like many added effect weapons, the effect doesn't take place that often. Usually a solo thief would use a crossbow and drain bolts to stay alive. As long as you land the ranged shot and the monster isn't immune to the element, the added effect should always kick in.

the claws seem to do decent damage, the prostpect of HP drain is awesome, I don't see any drawbacks as of yet! Maybe now a decently outfitted MNK can have an easier time going solo ^^
