Safeguard Ring  

I tried equiping the lvl 14 Stamina Ring on my lvl 10 pld but it just won't work, everyone below says stick with Stamina Rings But I can't understand how to do this(sarcasm)

Due to the fact that you can still practically solo exp with alot of jobs at lvl 10 this is a great ring as there isn't many other options 10-14,

As a Paladin, a few points of +Vit will almost always be more valuable to you than a few points of +Def, so the Stamina Rings (+2 Vit) are the clear winners in my opinion.

The basic reason why 1 or 2 points of Vit will almost always be more beneficial than a few points of Def is that adding Vit almost always results in a larger percent increase than adding Def, and so results in a greater improvement to your character. You can see this by looking at the number totals themselves. While you should have hundreds of points of Defense thanks to your passive Defense Boosts, your other gear, and your job abilities that boost Defense, you will almost always have less than a hundred Vit given the fact that you recieve no passive Vit boosts or Vit boosting job abilities. Just looking at the percentage increases, a boost of 10 Def to say 300 Def total is less significant (only a 3% increase) than a boost of 6 Vit to 60 Vit total (a 10% increase), so that adding Vit represents a more significant boost to your character in terms of reducing damage recieved.

In addition, since +Vit lowers the base damage received curve itself, while +Def only increases your chances of getting hit at the low end of that curve, Vit does not seem to suffer from the same effect of diminishing returns that comes into play for Def in the later levels.

just a little add-on.....2 stamina rings are way better 2 of these... cause vit doesn't only give u 1 defence for each 2 vit... it also lowers the max damage u can take...
