It's pretty obvious that beastcoins and beastmen seals are two different items. If the recipe calls for beastcoins, you use beastcoins, not seals. The items have two different names, therefore they are two different items with two different uses.

I have about 36-40 Beast coins. And about 11 Silver beast coins and 34 Gold beast coins. I stole them all. And the trick is to steal from behind a mob. So run in cuirculs around a Yag. and once it swings steal. Also the name of the yag depends on what coin you get. Dont even try to get them from drops. Its pointless and only a 20% chance while stealing gives you a 60-70% chance of getting BeastCoins

beastmen coin are droped mainly from beastmen (yagudo, quadav, orc). the beastmen in all three kingdom are gobolins. They drop the coins. The beastmen seals are drop from practicaly any monster and are used to BCNM (burning circle Notorios Monster). Basically u use 40 seals to summon 6 notorios monster (fight all at once) and they drop 6 good items.

Just had to pop in here really fast to clarify something about these ingots. The recipe that calls for 3 copper ores and 1 zinc ore is the goldsmithing recipe for brass ingots, while the recipe for 4 beastcoins is the blacksmithing recipe for bronze ingots.

Beastcoins come in different types from the plain copper ones just called beastcoins to silver gold and mythril types. They all drop from various mobs around the towns the stronger the mob the better type of coin you find. In and around Bastok the goblins and quads very rarely drop the standard beastcoins, in and around Windhurst the Yagudo, which are bird men, drop the silver types. These coins are used in various crafting recipes. Check the guild recipe pages to see what specifically.
Also on a side note I was told by a high level english speaking japanese player that beast seals which are totally different are used later on in some quest where the more you have the better rare items you can get. In the guide book I have some guy in another town ask you for them, but you have to be able to ride a Chocobo in order to get the quest.
Hope this info helps all of you out.

Ive never seen coins drop, I buy mine from AH for 1k a stack of 12. From everything ive checked theives must steal them from beastman. SEALS AND COINS ARE NOT THE SAME, seals drop off of anything and are very abundant and are damn worthless unless you are lvl 40+, they are used to inniate special battles on expedetionary forces or something like that. i dont even bother saving, ive deleted so many of those pos items.

I'm a thief in San D'Oria and I've kept every beastcoin I've gotten - about 20 so far. Each area has I believe two distinct "groups" that are "beastmen". For us, it's the orcs and goblins. Every coin I've gotten has been (mostly) stolen or (rarely) dropped from one of these two groups.
You don't really need these; copper and tin ore will get you the same thing (see recipes).
The Beastmen's Seals are different; these are a quest item (for later, apparently). They drop from seemingly anything. I just stack 'em in the safe.

I've had about 3 of the coins drop. They seems to be from random mobs. One dropped from a goblin fisher, a forest hair and the last was an orcish fodder. The seals seem to be random as well and more frequent. Some one said they are used for a quest in Jeuno, but I am only lv 10 and have not been able to comfirm that. I have seen about 4 coins stolen from mobs, so that might be an easier way to get them. Again they seemed random including mobs like wild sheep and mouse bats.

Can I synthesize the Seals into something? Or are Seals Coins?

2) Steal from Yagudo's, almost every Yagudo type (other than the NE's) will cough one up with little probably.
